It would be an absolute travesty to leave the Black Forest without a cuckoo clock all your own. And, with their ubiquitous presence in most souvenir shops, you will have plenty of opportunities to pick one--or more--up during your travels through the region. Typically innately carved with clusters of leaves, deer heads, or the like, a good-quality cuckoo clock doesn't come cheap. These clocks come in a variety of shapes and sizes. In addition to the tradional carved clocks, you can also find a number of idyllic gabled cottage scenes with trees and water pumps, colorfully handpainted with flowers and the like.

If your cuckoo clock fix remains unsatiated after browsing through all the gift shops, then you'll definitely want to stop off at the cuckoo clock museum located in Furtwangen. Here you will find the largest collection of Black Forest cuckoo clocks found anywhere -- with over 4,000 clocks on display.
