Long time listener first time caller type of deal, I recognize some from A2Z and Vegas tripping though.
Have not been to Vegas in over a year, and this is the only time I was able to get a quick trip in for the rest of 2009.
May 26th - 28th
Flew out of STL via SWA, arrived in LV around 9:00 am. Hailed a cab and told him "TI. You get $20 if the fare $9 or $15, so you choose the route". I remember when I first started going to Vegas (1998) I never cared about cab fare, then I learned about the tunnel and other bad routes. So I was always on the lookout. The first time it happened to me I was on tilt before I even checked into my hotel. So a couple of years ago I started a new system. Now I just take two cab rides while I am in LV. From and to the airport. $20 each time and I don't even have to think about it.
This was my first solo trip and it was awesome. Upon arrival at TI i approached the hotel lobby and observed a couple leaving the lobby desk and walking toward the bell hop. So of course no rooms yet. The lady at the front desk was rude. I told her my name and that I had a reservation, she interrupted me in mid-sentence and said '11:00 o'clock'. I started to ask about my baggage. 'Bell hop'. Oh well service was good everywhere after that. Sat in the highlimit slot room. But a $100 in. Playing one or two coins in a $5 VP machine, it was not long before I doubled my $.
Went off to the Venetian to register for the noon poker tourney. $150. Went and ate breakfast at the Grand Lux. Had the best steak and egg breakfast of all-time. $19.95 plus tip, drink, tax. Went to V highlimit slot room lost $500 on a $5 two coin WOF machine, never got the spin. Lost another two bills on $5 VP. Still another 40 minutes until poker tourney. Went to sports book to make some baseball bets.
113 people register for the tourney. You get $7500 in chips and blinds go up every 30 minutes. This was rated one of the best tournaments in all of Vegas. Seven hours later there are 13 people left and the pay the top nine spots. Only my third tournament ever. I started talking to the chip leader on a 15 minute break We have been playing on the same table since noon. I told him all I wanted to do is finish in the money. He told me to play tight and don't go all in unless you see the flop and you like your odds.
I will post more later on tonight.
