Long time listener first time caller type of deal, I recognize some from A2Z and Vegas tripping though.

Have not been to Vegas in over a year, and this is the only time I was able to get a quick trip in for the rest of 2009.
May 26th - 28th

Flew out of STL via SWA, arrived in LV around 9:00 am. Hailed a cab and told him "TI. You get $20 if the fare $9 or $15, so you choose the route". I remember when I first started going to Vegas (1998) I never cared about cab fare, then I learned about the tunnel and other bad routes. So I was always on the lookout. The first time it happened to me I was on tilt before I even checked into my hotel. So a couple of years ago I started a new system. Now I just take two cab rides while I am in LV. From and to the airport. $20 each time and I don't even have to think about it.

This was my first solo trip and it was awesome. Upon arrival at TI i approached the hotel lobby and observed a couple leaving the lobby desk and walking toward the bell hop. So of course no rooms yet. The lady at the front desk was rude. I told her my name and that I had a reservation, she interrupted me in mid-sentence and said '11:00 o'clock'. I started to ask about my baggage. 'Bell hop'. Oh well service was good everywhere after that. Sat in the highlimit slot room. But a $100 in. Playing one or two coins in a $5 VP machine, it was not long before I doubled my $.

Went off to the Venetian to register for the noon poker tourney. $150. Went and ate breakfast at the Grand Lux. Had the best steak and egg breakfast of all-time. $19.95 plus tip, drink, tax. Went to V highlimit slot room lost $500 on a $5 two coin WOF machine, never got the spin. Lost another two bills on $5 VP. Still another 40 minutes until poker tourney. Went to sports book to make some baseball bets.

113 people register for the tourney. You get $7500 in chips and blinds go up every 30 minutes. This was rated one of the best tournaments in all of Vegas. Seven hours later there are 13 people left and the pay the top nine spots. Only my third tournament ever. I started talking to the chip leader on a 15 minute break We have been playing on the same table since noon. I told him all I wanted to do is finish in the money. He told me to play tight and don't go all in unless you see the flop and you like your odds.

I will post more later on tonight.

Las Vegas is a must see on your "To Do" list.
If gambling is not your favorite pass time, just experience the casinos and try your luck at one of many slot machines. They are no brainers for those like myself who could care less about the tables games.
When you get tired of the casino scene venture out and see the freebies. Mirage Volcano explodes with an awesome show starting at 8pm. The Fountains at Bellagio give a beautiful display of water 3pm-12am every 1/2 hour. Sirens of TI (Treasure Island) have an exciting live pirate show starting at 8:30pm 10:00pm and 11:30pm. I would suggest you check their website for limits, such as no strollers allowed and you need to get there early .
See Vagas as it was when conceived. Visit the downtown district for a look into yester year. Four Queens and the Fremont are true glitz and glamor Vegas style.
Enjoy history or nature? Let your rental drive you to Lake Meade, Hoover Dam and the West Rim of the Grand Canyon. The scenery is amazing.
And don't forget you can get married 24/7 by Elvis!
Enjoy your trip.....

Oh wow Vegas, what a place, makes you do things you'd never even dream of doing anywhere else. We took a helicoptor over the Hoover Dam and down into the Canyon for a picnic, we went to the top of the Eifel Tower, we even got married again. Why? Just because we were in Vegas and we could. Down to the practical stuff: lovely hot place but freezing air conditioning in the hotels so take a jacket; dont try and do the whole strip in 1 day, it's huge, we went for 7 days and we still didn't get to see every hotel; Didnt think much of the Kris Angel magic show we booked at the Luxor, would probably do a concert or showgirl show next time; Shopping is VERY expensive, not like Orlando where you have to go with empty suitcases. If i were to give one main piece of advice: do not book shows etc in advance or at the hotels, book them in the local shops, we used an excursion desk in a chemist just up from New York New York, the guy gave great advice and was up for a haggle on the price. We stayed in the Luxor, amazing but after the first couple of days we would have like to move on to try something new. Best atmosphere was in New York New York (make sure you watch a slot machine tournament, they are fab) and the Harley Davidson restaurant served great steaks at really good prices. Eating in the hotels is very expensive, shop around for food prices, you will save a fortune. We will definitely go back but only for 5 days next time, a week is just that bit too long for our energy levels and bank balance.

Dont waste of money! Show was totally below what one might expect from a Vegas adult show. Most Girls were below average looking, mostly A-cups not in shape with little dance expertise. While Mel B is ok her participation/singing is limited and she stays fully clothed. Kelly Monaco's performance is disappointing at best. The worst money I spent in Vegas. Furthermore, I was unfortunate enough to purchase Vip seating. Money would have been better spent playing slots!

just got back from 12 days/nights in vegas. it is the most unreal place i have been to, it takes about a full day to get your bearings. then day and night become one. when inside the hotels you have no way of knowing if its day or night it really is a 24 hour city. several time we found ourselfs eating evening meals at 3 in the mornin. so much to see and do but yet one of the most relaxinf holidays i have had as there is no real time restrictions on when do things. can recomend Pink jeep tours.
only one down side at night the people with the hooker cards standing on the streets they push them in to peoples hands who then drop them on the ground, but these are all gone by the morning. truly a great place to visit you don't have to be a gambler to have fun here.
