I can't complain too much because my husband took me on this trip as a gift and I do appreciate the vacation ... but this is not a nice hotel. The bed was really saggy, and I could feel the springs through the mattress pad. The room was spacious, but the carpet was so dirty looking. The shower had no water pressure, the faucets made a horrible noise when you turned them on, and the furniture also looked dirty.

I wouldn't prefer the strip, but in the future I would stay somewhere like Green Valley Ranch -- somewhere that you can sleep away from the chaos and venture into it if you want to.

This is a perfect hotel for someone who plans to not be there at all. We got tired and took naps, so we spent some time at the hotel (uncomfortably).

“OUTSTANDING VALUE FOR EXCELLENT DOWNTOWN LOCATION!!”

I have to state upfront that for dollars spent, and location, this has to be THE #1 spot in Las Vegas, if you are staying Downtown. My stay at the Plaza was for two days in late June. 2008.

My experience at the Plaza was excellent. I had a room on the 8th floor (handicapped room) that was large, with two queen beds, a table and two nice chairs by the window, a long chest with TV on top. (See photos) The bathroom offered an easy enter shower, a sink with vanity, and stool, with plenty of room to get around. The room amenities were more than adequate, with shampoo, body lotion, and soaps, both facial and body. Towels and washcloths were actually fairly thick, and plush, and there were enough every day (3 to 4 of each) to be more than adequate for my needs. Water pressure was excellent here, and the condition of the walls, ceiling, and other amenities were all in very good condition.

Nothing fancy here.. the carpet could stand to be replaced, but from what I could tell, the Plaza is undergoing renovation now. While I was there, they were replacing carpet in the elevator bays, and.. compliments to them, they did not shut the elevators down while doing so. You just "stepped over" and proceeded on your way. I will also say that the Plaza had the fastest elevators... both going, and waiting for, that I've ever seen in Las Vegas. My longest wait would have been 20-30 seconds! No kidding!

I ate at their buffet several times, and found that for $7.77 the value could not be beat. I had to wait in a line one time, and that was about a 10 minute wait. They had a live carving station, and.. a section on Chinese Food, and also Dessert Bar that I never got to, because I was satisfied with the main food station!
Finding a dinner buffet in Las Vegas for $7.77 per person without coupons (and there are sometimes 2-for-1's available) this value is without question. There would not be the quantity of food you would find on a $20-$30 buffet, BUT.. the food was quite tasty, and better than anything I can get at a local buffet in my area. If you are not expecting the quality and quantity of a 5 star hotel, and fancy fancy table linens and such, the Plaza will suit you for at least some of your meals. The early brunch has both breakfast and lunch offerings, and the buffet is open, I believe from 10 am to 10 pm.

I enjoyed gambling at this Casino. They have plenty of slot machines, and I had some luck here, as well as at Bingo. Because I was here with a large group that was spread all over Las Vegas, I didn't get to spend as much time as I would have liked here, but there will be other visits. Never even had a chance to sit at a blackjack table, more's the pity.

I found the casino help, check in desk, bell staff, and housekeeping were competent and friendly, all well above what I would have expected. Look for bigger and better things here, but if it never improves, and stays just as it is, I can guarantee that I'll be back. I will also add that the Plaza hosts the only downtown Bingo available, and.. I thoroughly enjoyed attending multiple sessions, and had some good luck~!! There is a free beverage station for coffee, juices, and soda and tea open at all sessions, so you don't have to grab coffee before you get there!!!

Expect to see me again, Plaza. And I look forward to seeing the improvements I've heard are coming!!!!

I booked this hotel for $28.00, I booked a petite suite, but upon check in they offered me an upgrade to the Penthouse Suite!! The room was huge, 2 queens beds, a Bar, living area and a sizable bathroom. The room did show it's age, the furniture was chipped / scratched, but very clean. I recall the carpet was light pink and so thick you stepped into it!

This was my second stay at the Plaza and I would have no problem going back.

I think the Plaza gets a bad rap.I thought that for the price it is a great deal.Rooms are large and clean.Staff is friendly, location is good.We even saw The Rat Pack show there. Not my thing but my wife really enjoyed it(gotta keep um happy),but don't buy your tix there go to 4 Queens and save a few(50) bucks. At times there was a long wait for the elevator, but who cares?Overall a very good experience>

If you want glitz and glamour, go pay $$$$ and stay on the strip. Yes, this place is old. But for the money you pay, it is perfect if you want a getaway to party and gamble. Some rooms are better than others, but they are all large (except for the bathrooms). Some recent improvements include the new lounge they opened on the casino floor which has live entertainment most nights for free. They were also getting ready to open the new check in desk now on the first floor directly in front of the main doors. I'm sure that will make many people happy. They were having elevator problems while I was there, and a couple of the north elevators were out of service while they waited for parts. A minor inconvenience that should be fixed by now. In all the times I've stayed here I've never had a problem getting drinks whenever I wanted one, and they tend to make them stronger than most places. Just be sure to give the waitress a tip ($1) and she'll be back often. Like I said, just don't expect the glitz of the strip, but you won't pay the price either. This is old Las Vegas and the Plaze gives you that feeling.
