“Bathroom celing was leaking massive urine”

Plaza Hotel & Casino

I give his hotel ZERO stars. Since it doesnt allow me to rate it at ZERO, i choose 1 star. We stayed there for NYE and had a standard room. The room smelled horrible. We were gagging. It smelled like sour milk and feet mixed. We walked to ABC store and Walgreens down the street to get three bottles of air freshner. The lady who worked at ABC said a lot of people who stayed at the Plaza come here to buy air fresheners! I used about half a bottle and thought it would do it. But no.....Everytime we came back to the room the nasty smell came back. We had to hold our breath and spray the room everytime we got back to our room. At night, the toilet and sink made horrible noises. They were definitely having some faucet problems. The next day, I got lightly shocked by turning on the bathroom light. There was sparks. I left the light on. Moments later, the bathroom ceiling was leaking with water. The bathroom light was filled with water and the light was blinking. It was scary because I didnt know what would happen..it felt so dangerous with the water and electricity. I didnt DARE try to turn the light off. We stayed away. Well at first we thought it was water. Keep on reading. It was practically raining and it got worse and worse. We called the front desk and it took them a long time to send someone up. The entire bathroom floor was flooded with about 1" of "water" and spreaded toward the carpet. Then the water started to turn YELLOW and it smelled like URINE. We had clothes in the bathroom so all our clothes smelled like urine!!!! It was disgusting. We had to move the chairs from the room and climbed on them because we didnt want to step on the urine get our stuff in the bathroom. The entire toilet was flooded with yellow/brownish water. We were traumatized. It was totally disgusting and we were afraid we would get sick! While we were still waiting, the ceiling where the air conditioner was started to leak as well. We were FREAKED OUT. We couldnt leave the room because we had our belongings. We kept calling the Front desk and they kept putting us on hold. We demanded to get comped and upgraded to another room. The lady said there werent any rooms available and offered to give us a refund for the second night. We were furious because it was NYE and all hotels were booked. We had nowhere to go. So we went downstairs and complained to the Manager. The Manager then said they would give us an upgraded room and comp us for the 2nd night. We were pissed because the lady said there werent any rooms earlier. They were so dishonest with us. We actually wanted to get comped for both nights but they were so difficult to deal with we just decided to stick with what they offered. It was a horrible experience. We felt that they should have at least comped us for our entire stay. Thank god the upgraded room had no smells and no leakage. But we will never stay there again. PS. the 7.77 buffet was horrible. We had major stomach aches and diaherrea after eating there.. DO NOT RECOMMEND.

“Maintenance problems, but semi- good value”

I have mixed feelings about this place so I'll just tell it like it is. The room we had offered a lovely view of a brick building, okay, but for the price no complaints, yet. Until we went to the restroom and realized that when we flushed the toilet it came up through the sink. GROSS. no place to brush teeth, wash hands, etc. maintenance came the next day and said the problem was fixed, but it was not. Happened for all three nights we were there. Also, we had reserved a non-smoking room but were put in a smoking room and staff said they could not change it b/c they were full. So, that lovely smell lingered in our room for the whole trip. On the last night, the A/C went out and my boyfriend, furious by this point, demanded a new room. The room we were switched to, to sleep for 2 hours before catching a flight home, was lovely. No problems, no smoking and a toilet that worked. If we had this room to begin with my review would be much different, as you can imagine.

Upside: the pool on the roof was nice but there was no towel service up there as promised. It was also great to have a subway in the lobby for sub-emergencies. And, the hotel is walking distance to the main Street plaza which has a great champagne buffett. If I return to Vegas I'll still stay downtown but probably try Golden nugget or something.

Tip: there's a bus that runs from downtown to the strip for only $10 for an all day pass. best deal around.

We knew going in, that the Plaza was an old hotel and things were not going to be very upscale, but I never expected to sleep on beds that felt like ironing boards with cardboard boxes for pillows. The carpet was so stained and dirty looking I wouldn’t even walk on it barefoot. The one table in the room was so rickety that it wobbled with one cup and a book on it. There were dark hairs on the bathroom floor and both my husband and I are fair haired, so we knew they were not ours and they were still there after the room was allegedly cleaned!. The luggage racks were so old and dirty I hesitated to use them, but I didn’t want to put my suitcase on the floor, so I had no choice. The remote for the TV was for the wrong brand of TV, so it didn’t work. The drawer in the bathroom was so awful I wouldn’t even put a shoe in there, let alone my toothbrush.
No one ever came to make up the room, so when we went out at night I had to ask the front desk to have the room made up and then they only did one of the beds.
We had three rooms and in two of them the bathtubs didn’t drain. But I must say they did address this issue right away. In one of them there was no trash can and no soap or shampoo. All three of the rooms were in the same shape as I have described above.
We had asked for 1 room with Queen beds and two with Kings, but there were none available when we checked in. It would have been better if they hadn’t led us to believe we might get Kings at all and just told us there probably wouldn’t be any.
When we did inquire about ‘better’ rooms we were told there was one (that’s right just one) but it would be another $40 per night.
Another thing that really made it special was that you entered through the bus station to get to the parking structure!
We made the best of it and considered it part of the Vegas adventure, but I will NEVER stay at the Plaza again.

The Plaza was dirty and run down. The Sports Book was full of local vagrants that took all the seats. The staff was not friendly, the rooms had no extras, such as hair dryer, and they give no free drinks at the Sports Book. I made several $500 plus wagers and was told they give no free drink coupons. Thats OK,because it was a bad experience, and I will NEVER go back.
Next they let local prostitutes hang out at the Sports Bar,and I was propisitioned a few times. I go to Vegas once a month, and this was the worst. Spend your money elsewhere.

If you want the status Bellago keep looking.... If your seaking the grandure of the venition, it's not here. The "hip" of the Palms? Sorry try again.

But if your looking for a clean room in a great down town location and don't mind an A/C that can wake the dead look here. The Plaza is what it is... An old down town hotel that still cares for it's customers even though it's rooms have long since run out of luck.

Would I recomment it... yes the views are stunning and the rates are passible. But if your looking to inpress or it's first time to Vegas you may want to upgrade. But if you done the circut and are looking for something more low key and affordable look no further for the plaza is clean, confortable, & convientiant.... nothing more.... But really what more is there.
