This was my second stay @ Excalibur in 2 months. I picked it again this time for the great package price and its central location. We rented a car this time and it is very easy to get in and out, unlike some of the land locked hotels in the middle of the strip.

We arrived early, 7am and went to Hoover Dam. Got to the hotel around 1 and was able to check in early. We waited in line around 20 min. Requested Tower II and got a room without problems. Again, these are the standard hotel rooms, nice enough for as long as you are in them. Big roomy shower, no tub. Very cold a/c.....loved that!!!!!

As many have said, make sure you sign up for the players club. We got a couple of meals and room charges comp'd for our play. Plus the cards are good at several casinos, so if you play at different one's you only have to have one card.

There is construction going on around the pool area. If you want shade be there before 10am when the sun makes it over Tower II. The pools are shallow, about 3.5 ft deep. It does have a water slide and a nice water fountain. Wait staff present to bring you drinks at your chair.

Overall, we had a great stay and would stay here again. Staff was friendly, food decent, and a great location with easy access by foot or tram to many casinos. The Thunder from Down Under show was also great entertainment for the girls!

My husband and I are both seniors and have travelled all over the world and we had a great stay at the Excalber Hotel.

We came in around 11:30 am and our room was ready for us.

It was in Tower 2 on the 27th floor. I had read alot of bad reviews so we did upgrade to the newly fublished rooms. The upgrade was only 20$ which I had thought was an extra twenty a day but was only twenty for the whole 5 nights.

We had a lovely view of the swimming pools ( Which by the way was not under constuction). It was very quiet and not one wrong thing to say about it. The maid sevice was excellent and our sheets changed every day and loads of towels.Even the toilet paper was replaced every day with a fresh roll and an extra one.

All the staff could not have been better. I certainly will recommend this hotel to all our friends and would return to it again.

I've stayed at the Stratosphere and Caesars Palace so thought we'd try a different location on the strip. We booked an upgraded room and were delighted. Upon arrival the casino was busy and we were pleased that it didn't smell of smoke - well done. Check in was very quick as there were 10 staff on duty. The elevators were quick and we were on the 25th floor overlooking the roller coaster at New York, New York. We spent 3 nights there and ate breakfast at different locations in the Hotel each day - all OK. Although the pool is being refurbed, this was clear on their website at the time of booking so we expected more disruption than there was. Overall, we enjoyed the experience and - OK it's not Caesars - but for price, we were very pleased indeed. We would recommend it to our best friend.

There are some worrying reviews about this hotel, so I hope I can set some things straight. The hotel is very clean and check in and out was swift. We had a tower 2 room, which had 2 queen beds, TV with basic US channels, a small dining table and 2 chairs. The bathroom had a twin shower with single basin and a noisy extractor fan (which can be separately turned off). Ice and cold drinks are on every floor located to the other side of the elevators. Despite being on floor 12 the lifts were incredibly swift. We ate in the Camelot Steakhouse, it was very nice but over priced in my mind. We had the breakfast buffet, which was good value for money. There was also a wide range of other outlets (McD, Quizinos, Krispy Kreme) but make sure you pay a trip to Cold Stone Icre Creams - boy amazing. Now to the downsides about Excalibur. The pool extension is not yet complete and is not only an eyesore but very noisy and a dusty. Pool drinks are overpriced and the sun loungers are packed in closer than sardines.
Other things to do - well Lake Mead Cruise and Hoover Dam tour is amazing for $75 though despite what the tour company tells you is a 8.30 til 5pm day tour. We also flew to Grand Canyon South - which was awesome. We loved New York New York - especially the Guiness in Nine Fine Irish Men and the Daily meal specials in America (Salad, rib eye stea, potato and veg $15) - well worth it. We also went the the Factory Outlet South - $15 in a taxi and we bought Nike trainers for $19, Timberland shoes for $38 etc amazing savings. Though watch excess luggage on the way home they charge $16 per kilo and are ruthless. The monorail at MGM Grand is cheap at $9 for a 24hr pass and saves walking.
If you are flying via Airtours dont bank on eating plenty - take some snacks as the meals are terrible (1 meal and 1 snack outbound).
Timeshare touts are in the hotel - as the hotel is marketing its own property. We were got on our arrival by the staff starting a converation about where we were from and offering us a gift. Go if you wish, but be prepared for very hard sell. Also barter with the staff when they offer you things as you can up them from their standard offer. We went - beware we were there 4 hours!!
We were away for a week and only got to see 1/3 of this amazing city - going back again though would like to go more mid strip.

I wasn't expecting much, knowing that for a hotel on the strip at this price, it wasn't going to be the greatest. But traveling in a group of 7, we needed somewhere cheap and location was key. Excalibur came through on both accounts. I thought the hotel was really well priced, considering some of it's neighbors. The location was the most attractive part of the hotel. It is close (within walking distance) to NY, NY and MGM Grand. Mandalay Bay and Luxor are just a short (free) tram ride away. For trips further up the Strip, either walk...it's not that bad...or buy the $5 bus pass that lasts 24 hours. Bellagio is not a far walk...but some others like TI, Venetian and Paris, might be a bit far in the August heat. The hotel is definitely in need of some updating. We stayed in Tower 1...apparently the un-remodeled tower. The carpet was brown shag, but the beds were extrememly comfortable, it was clean, and the bathroom was large. We had a lovely view of a concrete wall...but honestly, your in Vegas, why are you in your room!? The pools did leave a bad impression. The max depth is 3 1/2 feet in the two open pools and it was filled with kids. Apparently the 3rd pool is under construction. They did provide towels, and there are people walking around talking drink orders. I highly recommend visiting the restaurants in the hotel. Dick's Last Resort is a fun place if you don't mind your waitress throwing napkins at you, yelling your order across the room or wearing hat's with funny comments. Also, the Sherwood Forest Cafe has great food, but the service is slow, so don't go when your in a rush. The brunch at the upstairs buffet was also great. For the ladies, I highly recommend seeing the Thunder from Down Under. They are located right in the hotel....and it's a really fun show! Don't bring the boys though!

The casino was also great. We stuck mostly to the blackjack tables...and except for 1 dealer, all were friendly and helpful to us. If you're more into the slots, check out the I Dream of Jeannie located near the entrance. A few of us hit that a few times!

All in all, Excalibur is a great place to stay if you don't want to be smack dab in the middle of the strip, and you don't mind staying in a older, less updated location to save your money for gambling and shows! (Cirque de Soleil is Awesome!)
