5 guys going from Maine to Vegas for a Thursday - Monday party extravaganza! Sound like fun? Well it was.
We are all over 35 so we are all plenty mature, looking for fun, but not to be a bunch of 21 year old, throw up every night, hellions and the Excalibur was a perfect fit for us.
If you are looking for a quiet nights sleep with a boring feel, this is the place.
Great for bringing kids, yet I am guessing that they have a ton of families when the kids are on vacation. We were there from March 1st-5th so no kids to be seen. Could be a bad choice if it gets nuts with kids, and you have none or are in Vegas to get away from the ones you have.
The Excalibur was one of the lowest priced on that end of the strip. Only Circus Circus, Sahara and The Stratosphere were lower, and just by a tiny bit.
But if you want to Party Vegas style, and don't want to spend time or money at jut the one hotel you stay at, this is a great choice.
With New York, MGM, Tropicana, Hooters, Luxor and Mandalay Bay all within easy short (5 min or less) walks, this is great if you don't plan to have a car during your stay.
We hoofed it all the way to Caesar's one night, and it wasn't bad.
The gambling was horrid as 5 of us probably dumped a total of 8 G's into the Excalibur and all went home broke. We didn't have any better luck anywhere else though, so that isn't really a hit on the Excalibur, but Vegas period.
They have a great house run Texas hold'em tourney everyday at 9am and 11am in the poker room. Very well run and the winner will pocket $500+ ( depending on # of players) for only a $35 buy in. That was perfect for us, and a great way to start the day.
The table waitress's outfit is hideous. Great if you don't want your 13 year old kid googling at T&A all day, but not the slightest attractive or appealing for the normal gambling crowd.
Everything I saw form bathrooms to the lobby was clean, neat and the staff was fine. I don't tend to expect much when looking for the cheapest, and got more then that for the price I paid.
If you have high expectations for $50 a night, your are going to the wrong town, and this is CERTAINLY NOT the hotel for you!
The food at the buffet was just fine, nothing to brag about, there are a 100 as good in this city. I thought breakfast on a Friday morning was WAY over priced at $11.80. Did Krisy Kreme the rest of the stay.
They have a newly redone bar called Octane. It looks very cool, and had a nice feel, but I am sure not many are flocking to the Excalibur for the partying!
Bottom line, if you plan to walk the strip to see a lot, and want to save your $$$ for other things this is a quiet nice bed for you to rest your head for the 5-6 hours a night you will sleep.
I have seen the show (Kings Tournament) years ago, and it was great, but we were 20 of us on a family reunion, and that was the perfect show for us. There are 30 better shows on the strip if you want to see the best, but you won't waste your money if you go to see this one.
