You'll live like a king, but in medieval times when they didn't bathe regularly and ate with their hands.

This hotel made me feel absolutely filthy, but it has low limit table games (although not as low as downtown), a great location, and cheap room rates. If you're coming to Vegas to gamble and cruise the strip, stay here and save your money. You can take a walkway directlly to New York, New York and there is a tram to the Luxor (also a walkway) and Mandalay Bay.

Do not waste your time on room service or the restaurants. There is a food court with McDonald's and some other shops that will save you money on a quick bite.

Insist on a high floor - nothing below Floor 26 if you can swing it. Ask for a room facing the strip or the mountains - there are some fantastic views. If they try to put you on the first floor, the dungeon if you will, demand to move or you'll be subjected to security pages and all around noisiness.

Enjoy and best of luck. Come on 22!

“Dark, Dingy, Dirty Dungeon - But it's Cheap!”

Excalibur Hotel & Casino

Stayed here for 2 nights at a Conference.
The Good points:
$60 per night (w/o tax);
Right on the Strip
Smaller, easier to get around ( than MGM, or Caesar's)Casino
Good Hot Water pressure in the Shower
Great on-site service for business dinners/events
The Bad points:
Rooms are spartan and dingy.
2 of 6 lights in my room & alarm clock didn't work
Dirt & dust on furniture, light fixtures, air conditoning/heat vents
Poor quality toiletries
Beds not even Red Roof Inn Quality
Food at Buffets is not good
Pool under repair
You won't impress anyone by staying here; and you will spend some time in the room. Pay $40/night more ( that's about 1/2 hour of gambling) and stay someplace decent.

I stayed at The Excalibur February 26-March 2 and was very pleased. Months ago I signed up on their email listings and soon after received an offer for $50 rooms so I jumped right on that. The room was clean with two comfortable queen beds on a non-smoking floor with gambling and dining coupons given upon check-in. I ate at the dinner buffet one night, the Tournament of Kings dinner show the next night and saw Louie Andersen the last night. All were well worth the money.
The location right on the strip was even better since it was connected to the MGM, Luxor and Mandalay Bay by over -the- street walkways. The time share people were everywhere but not overbearing.
Although the security folks at the elevators did not always ask to see my room key, I felt it was a safe environment and would definitely stay there again!

Stayed at the Excalibur from 2-25 to 3-1-07. I can not understand how this hotel is often ripped in reviews. I will not claim all is perfect at this hotel but during my stay I found my room to be clean, security was not a concern and any staff I had contact with to be helpful. Yes, the hotel could use some updating, and like most casinos it is smokey and the time share salespersons can be bothersome. I selected this hotel due to room rates being much more reasonable than most other lodging and I was pleased for what I paid. I can afford to book other higher rated hotels and pay 2 to 3 times the room rates I paid here, but I choose to spend my money on entertainment not a room I spend little time in. If you are looking for luxury do not stay here. If you are looking for a secure place to sleep at reasonable rates in Vegas this should wok for you.

“The Very Greedy Castle”

I recently stayed at the Excalibur for three days-not by choice. I was with a group of people who got this deal through AAA - although I wouldn't call it a deal. This was my first stay in this Las Vegas hotel and I will not be going back. Everything about this place screams of greed. The coffee shop charges outrageous prices for their breakfast items(I pity people who come here with children), the slots are way too tight and to add insult to injury, they tack on a $1.00 a day local phone call surcharge to your bill each day you stay there. Most people have cell phones - I think this is the ultimate rip off. We were in Tower I-the window in our room looked out at a wall - there are no hand rails in the shower stalls -guess they forgot about those when they decided not to put in bathtubs. Looks like an accident waiting to happen - wonder how many people have slipped and had nothing to hold on to. There was a bathroom rug in front of the shower and no tub mat to place over it. It was obvious that the rug was used over and over-not sanitary at all. At check-in I asked if there were any rooms available that had been remodeled and I was told that they would be an additional $25 a night. What a joke. A couple that was traveling with us (but stayed in Tower II )had to call security three times because the couple in the room next to them were fighting and bouncing off the walls and screaming at each other. The corporate honcho's that run these casino's better wise up. You can only take advantage of people who don't know any better and there are plenty of people who frequent Vegas more than once in their lifetime and they will soon get sick of your crap and your bottom line will show it. Word to the wise-if you have lots of money to blow and don't care about being ripped off, this is the place for you-
