This hotel was much easier to find than we expected as were driving in from LA and this was the first thing we saw at the end of the strip. Visually the turrents are very appealing from the outside. Check-in was easy but I was surprised at how close reception was to the bar and gaming areas. We must have been lucky as were upgraded to one of the refurbished rooms with one of the largest TVs I have ever seen. We had a fantastic view and the room despite not being overly large had a great feel and was excellent value for money. Only downside was the lack of tea/coffee making facilities in the room. Call me a cynic but it might have something to do with the 'Starbucks' located 20 metres from the lifts to the hotel towers. Alas we arrived very late and left early so didn't get a chance to use the pool or the restaurants but there appeared to be plenty of options. Overall-we really enjoyed our short stay and would stay here again

The staff were excellent over New Years in 2007-2008. The check in lines were unbelievable, but they had their act together and it only took about 10 minutes in a long line to get our room. Also, on check out, we left a day early, and they gave us a refund instead of charging us for the whole night! Awesome!
It's got a good location, but getting across the street in either direction can be a pain. The room only had a shower, no bath, but the view was fantastico! It wasn't particularly spacious, but it was very clean, as was the restroom.
The management is no nonsense and they will respond to your needs, which is hard to do in a busy town like Vegas, especially on New Years. I've stayed here twice and it really is the best deal on the strip. Much better than its sister hotel CIrcus Circus and only marginally worse than Luxor (Mandalay is much nicer).
We ate at the buffet, which was only okay. Sherwood Forest restaurant was better and so much food for the money! They usually have a couple decent bands playing downstairs so go see them, they're free.
The spa is great also, although you will have to pay for it.

“Not a good place to say with kids”

Excalibur Hotel & Casino

Upon our arrival, we noticed that the Casino was not well ventiliated, The cigarette smoke was overwhelming. Check-in staff was very helpful Our reservation had been mixed up and we were booked in 3 hotel rooms. Our check-in lady was very patient as she waited for the "hotel reservation" staff to correct our problem. The hotel needs to allow the check-in staff to fix such mishaps themselves. This would have made checking in less time consuming for us. The room in Tower 2 was quite clean with a large bathroom and shower. Beds were comfortable and clean. The air conditioner was very loud when it came on, causing some loss of sleep. Our first 2 nights went smoothly and the halls were quiet. The last night of our stay was a different story. There was a loud party down the hall from us with pleny of bad language and behavior. Our daughter became aftraid and we called hotel security at around 12:50 a.m. The noise seemed to die down until 3:00 a.m. when partiers from the room threatened to urinate on our door. We called security again. The partiers ran up and down the hall, kicking doors, swearing, yelling that they were in control, etc. At around 4:00 a.m. we decided that we should leave the hotel early, hoping to get some sleep at the airport. Upon checking out, we requested that our money be refunded for the last night of our stay. The hotel refused our request, but said they would check the hall and door for urine, and check the partiers room for damage. We will never stay in this hotel again. We were there for the American Taekwondo Association Spring National Championships.

Myself and my girlfriend who was 21 on the day we flew out were slightly worried after reading the reviews like everyone else on this site but we could not fault the hotel. The check-in staff were very helpful especially after upgrading our entire stay for free to a wide screen view room (due to my gf's bday). The hotel was clean and we were unable to smell any smoke for our entire stay in the casino area (mentioned in previous reviews). Staying in Tower 2 non-smoking (I believe) the room offered a 42" plasma TV although the channels were not in HD. The bed was incredibly comfortable due to the addition of a pillow top mattress. The bathroom was spacious with a large walk in shower (No bath) The maid was very helpful providing us with all the freebies you could wish for including soap shampoo, conditioner etc on a daily basis. Having stayed at the MGM twice in the past I would say that the room was on par, especially for the price (excluding the free upgrade).

The availability of fast food restaurants within the hotel should cater for all needs with the likes of McDonalds, Pizza hut and a very popular chinese. Also the krispy Kreme doughnut shop is excellent. We decided to have the breakfast buffet twice in our 7-day vacation ($11.99 each). We found the food to be excellent with a wide range, which was constantly being replaced with fresh trays. Next to the food area is castle walk, which offers a range of shops where you can buy all your gifts for people back home and also a great Corona shop. This castle walk is also the walkway to the Luxor.

Down next to the casino floor is a restaurant called Dick’s last resort which is a must for groups aged around 21-38. The staff will make fun of you tell jokes and generally become part of your group, as well as making you all wear over-sized chef hats. We never ate here but it looked a great laugh.

Within the casino we generally stuck to playing Jacks or Better (Video Poker). Whilst at the machines we were often asked if we wanted free cocktails ($1 tip ensured she kept coming came back!). This may have been due to the fact that we were on a machine close to the bar (Hint!)

The only flaw I can comment on would be with the sales people who try to give you free show tickets, if you watch some presentation. However the sales teams within the casino were placed in the same position for our entire stay and once they had asked us once they remembered us. However outside the staff was constantly changing and as a result we kept get getting harassed.

Overall I would defiantly stay at the Excalibur again, and to anyone considering the Circus Circus hotel please pay that tiny bit extra for this hotel. Not only is it better positioned but right next to the entertainment part of the strip, with easy monorail access.

“Honest Opinion about the Excalibur Hotel & Casino”

Excalibur Hotel & Casino

I am actually at the hotel as I write this review. I am in Vegas on business and attending a show at the Sands Expo center. It was a last minute booking so I had to take what I could get. I was disapointed that some of the hotels I have stayed at in the past where booked but that was my own fault.

I booked the Excalibur and then decided to read the reviews. I will admit that some made this place sound like the worst hotel out there. I am in one the old rooms and while they look a bit drabby they seem to be very clean. They do have only a shower but I happen to think it's better than taking a shower in a bath tub but thats my opinion.

The best thing I could say about this hotel is that it's clean but badly in need of a facelift.

The saying "You get what you pay for" really applies here. I am not normally the type of person to judge people but I just can't help myself. The Las Vegas NASCAR race was yesterday and I can't even begin to tell you what some of the people here are like. There are drunks all over the place and they are loud and annoying. I have seen a couple of small fights for stupid reasons, I have seen a semi naked drunk woman getting ice in her panties and bra, I have seen more people without teeth than I have seen in a lifetime, and the rude comments to other women and cocktail waitresses was very uncalled for. To be honest there are so many rednecks here I was looking for Jeff Foxworthy.

Ok, another problem many others wrote and I have to agree is the time share people. You can't walk in and out of this hotel without someone running over to you asking if you want free tickets to a show. I am smart enough to know that nothing is free and I usually smile and say no thank you however a couple where downright rude. I had a guy this afternoon actually say to me "Well, then have a lousy day" when I walked by him and said no thank you. I guess he was offended that I didn't give him some of my time. You know the hotels are making money off these deals but you wonder if they really realize that they are doing more harm than good annoying their guests. I spoke with many guests and all where just as angry.

I didn't find the food bad as others suggested in fact I thought it was pretty good and the prices where decent. Someone wrote that it had a McDonalds like that was a bad thing but when your running out in the morning their breakfast is fast, cheap and not all that bad.

Overall this hotel is very average and attracts below average guests because it's cheap. Expect a louder crowd and not the friendliest of people.

I personally would not stay here again but I didn't want to this time either. I will say that in a pinch if I had to stay here again I wouldn't think it was the end of the world. The other hotels on the strip are just way better but they cost more as well.
