We just returned from our 3 night stay at the Mirage and could not have had a better experience at the hotel. Arrived on Sunday and tried the $20 trick, which would have moved us from a deluxe room to a premiun view room, but I opted for an upgrade to the Tower Suite instead, at my expense. The room was aboslutely unbelievable, with a living room, bar area, dining area, bedroom and huge bathroom/vanity area. We had a view, (see the photos) of the volcano and the strip that was fantastic.
Gambled at the casino quite a bit and joined the slot club, which allows the cardholder to gamble at several clubs on the strip and accumulate points. Prompt beverage service while we gambled, and everyone was extremely friendly and helpful.
We checked out the pool one afternoon and, yes, the drinks were expensive, but where are you going to get 32 oz. drinks cheap???
On the morning of checkout, I went to the Players Club to inquire as to what comps I had available. They informed me that they would pick up the drinks we had at the pool, and also pay for my wife and I to eat at the buffet. All I had to do was enter through the VIP line, show my card to the cashier, and tell her the buffet was comp'd.
Overall, I couldn't pick out a particular area where this hotel could improve. We found everything to be perfect, and will not evenlook at other hotels in Vegas in the future.

My husband and I went to Las Vegas July 20th through the 22nd with a group of friends, and stayed at the Mirage. Even though we'd booked over 4 months in advance for the hotel, they were completely out of non-smoking rooms, and the only room we could get with a king bed (instead of 2 queens) was on the second floor. The front desk was completely indifferent. My personal favorite, though, was when we handed off our bags to the bellhop, figuring he'd meet us at our room. We waited and waited, and finally called down, and he said it would still be another 20 minutes!

The pool was nice, but if you go on a weekend good luck getting more than one chair; also, it can be very difficult flagging down one of the waitresses.

Further, I'd read in the message board sections that Jet didn't let people with free passes in until after midnight, after they'd already expired, and that was the case for us as well.

The location of the hotel was nice, but next time, I'll probably just stay in the NY NY or even the TI or MGM instead. This hotel just doesn't care about you.

“Interesting Hotel”

Mirage Hotel & Casino

Jul 31, 2007

I stayed at the Mirage Hotel and Casino from July 1-July 5 as an attendee at the Fest for Beatles Fans. When I arrived at the hotel on Sunday to check in, I found a large group of people waiting, but the clerks handled things as efficiently as possible (I was able to check in and access my room before 3:00-in fact, it was about noontime when I was able to check in and see my room.
It is a long walk from the front desk to the elevators that go to the room. The room itself (I had a handicapped-accessible room) was very nice. At first, I had a problem with getting a raised toilet seat, but after some discussion, I was able to obtain one.
I ate my meals in the Caribe Cafe, and found the food to be very good.
You will do a lot of walking in this hotel to get from one place to another, but places in the hotel are easy to find. I did not leave the hotel until I checked out, but there seemed to be enough cabs if someone wanted to go to other hotels.
The staff was very friendly and gave help when it was necessary.
All in all, I found it to be a very nice hotel.

“An HONEST review of the MIRAGE!”

Staten Island, NY
Jul 30, 2007

OK so to get a picture of who we are: I am 27yo from Staten Island NY and my husband is 30, we have 2 kids and didn't bring them (glad we didn't!). We stayed at the Mirage from Monday July 23 until Sat July 28th.

Ok so I am VERY picky on cleanliness as I work in healthcare and think that public facilities should be CLEANER than clean. SO with that said, I'll start by saying that we had a non-smoking room that totally felt clean (my cleanliness standards are ridiculously high, probably higher than most). So I'll go to the beginning....

Check-In: Took a while, but when we finally got our turn, after seeing several people being told their room wasn't ready yet (it was about 1pm check in is 4pm) we found that because we had prepaid for our room, ours was ready.

Room: Clean like I said. I have stayed in the Rio and also Planet Hollywood (Alladdin). Now the Rio is all suites so obviously the room was much smaller.

-The Alladdin's bathrooms Blow Away the bathrooms at the Mirage. If you are a group of girls and need a big bathroom while getting ready, maybe this bathroom isn't good. It was just me and my husband so it was totally fine, and as far as the shower curtain and any kind of mildew - NONE. As hard as I tried to find some, there was none. I think shower curtains are gross but this one seemed as if they took it out of the package and hung it up.

-They give you an awesome blow-dryer and AWESOME shampoo conditioner, facial soap, this cool soap with like woodchips in it for exfoliating and body butter AWESOME!

-There's an iron and an ironing board. My iron was leaking water so I called and it was about 5 minutes til I had a new one.

-The remote is a little tricky, thought we needed new batteries which they brought up immediately, but it turns out you need to wait like a min before changing each channel. No big deal as we weren't there to watch TV, just had it on while getting ready and for the weather because believe it or not it rained like 2-3 times during our stay!

-Bed was comfortable, pillows comfy and blankets plentiful.

-Thermostat was quiet and we loved it!

- There was a desk, chair, closet, drawers, and a table with a chair.

- I requested a frigde and it was brought to our room about 2 hours after checking in and it worked great!

MAID SERVICE: We tipped everyday, and our service was GREAT. They don't change the linens daily unless asked for. I requested 2x's and both times they changed them. They visited our room twice daily.

POOL:
There are 2 pools, the adult pool BARE and then the regular pools.
We had no problem finding 2 chairs close together near the pool going down to the pool anywhere between 10:30am and 12pm.

I've read reviews that say there is no shade, I think these people didn't WALK around the pool and only took a quick glimpse because there were plenty of spots with shade where I saw people lying reading books etc.

Water was fine and they rent rafts daily for $15. I came prepared because I was aware of this and brought my own two floats which were great!

Drink service at the pool is good, drinks are VERY expensive. About $7-8 for a beer and then $15 for an absolute with cranberry or $15 for a large daquiri. Don't get me wrong, large is LARGE so it may be worth it, but it's so hot and so big if you don't drink it it'll be watered down quick. But hey, its Vegas Everything is expensive!

OK now about BARE!
It's optional topless. The waiters and waitresses are all good-looking and the beds are SO COMFY. They treat you like kings and queens. The pool itself is small but I think it's small on purpose to make people friendly with each other. There's a bar and another VIP pool area with a cool glass pool and waterfall type thing. Ladies should never pay, there's plenty of free passes going around and men are $30 to get in. Ask any man and he'll tell you it's worth the $30 admission if you know what I mean.
If you're body conscious this is not the place for you because there's plenty of fit people around (and unfortunately there was an unfit older lady in a thong bathing suit staring at my husband like a piece of meat who sat next to us), this was our last day in Vegas so we rudely changed seats but we didn't want to leave with the vision of this lady in our minds!
So we only wanted to spend about an hour or 2 at the pool for our last day but BARE was such an experience that we got there at 10am and didn't leave until 6pm! Everyone made friends and by the end of the day it was a huge pool party! Honestly this day was what really made our trip to Vegas a memorable one because BARE is so easygoing and fun that we are dying to go back just for that!

-GAMBLING- I didn't play any slots, just played poker and roulette. Dealers are amazingly friendly, will show you tips on playing and even remember you and wave when walking past the next day. Nice place to gamble.

Walking through the casino from the elevators to go out the front door is a little annoying because its crowded and people walk slow (NY'ers we walk briskly) so we'd take the sides cutting through slots and stuff.

FOOD: We only ate one night in California Pizza Kitchen. It was fine, nothing great, prices were to be expected in Vegas as there aren't many cheap eats out there. We did walk right across the street to Denny's for breakfast like 3 days cause it was good breakfast for cheap and a very short walk.

Japonaise looks awesome and was dying to go but never in the mood for sushi so we didn't go.

Didn't go to anywhere else to eat.

There were vending machines with sodas and water on the floors but they were $3 each so we went to walgreens and brought back a few to keep in the fridge.

LOCATION: Well I've stayed in Planet Hollywood and the Rio. Rio's off the strip so obvioulsy better at Mirage, and Planet Hollywood is in an OK location but I definitely found the location of the Mirage to be a HUGE plus to our stay. Take advantage of the free tram fom Mirage to Treasure Island, it comes like every 5 min. Awesome!

NIGHTCLUBS: Ok, Revolution looked cool, but we didn't go inside the actual club. We got a drink in the Abbey Road bar which is right behind the letters and they don't skimp on the alcohol.

JET- what a disaster! Ok the music was not great, we waited on general admission line at 12:30am got in by like 1:05am. I got in free, husband paid $30 admission. Get in, some guy grabs my butt after like 20 min in there. I tell him he better not touch me again, my husband sees that I'm mad and then the guys became tough guys and were looking to fight with him. I said it's our last night and we're not here to fight. I proceed to tell the security guy what happened because if there's a fight, it's not our fault and the guy touched me and was wrong. Security does nothing, just leans over and says something to the jerks. We go into another room, the guys follow us. We go into another room, followed again and we realize they're following us on purpose now and this is getting stupid. I tell another bouncer and he does NOTHING. So we decide to leave because we went out to have a good time and we weren't looking to fight on our last night there. We tell the guy at the door that we're leaving because of this situation, he says sorry that that happened, and I ask if we can go to Revolution for free because we told security about our problem and they're not doing anything about it so we don't want trouble and would rather go somewhere else. They can't let us in the other club for free! That's completely wrong and just goes to show you the difference of NYC clubs and Vegas clubs and why people get shot in Vegas clubs. Because the security is so lax, they don't check you for weapons when entering or do anything about troublemakers when inside. I definiltey don't like that about Vegas, but that's me.
So besides the music being bad, it just was too packed and not fun. VooDoo Lounge at the Rio is a million times better.

CHECK OUT: Quick and they gave us our $400 bill for room charges and it was accurate, no comps though (I didn't gamble too much on slots and when we asked for our time recorded at the tables the dealers gave us all kinds of reasons why they couldn't - a $25 min bet? never heard of that)

Overall I would stay at the Mirage again due to an awesome location and the adult pool. The lobby was beautiful and it was clean.

Stayed at the Mirage July 25-27. Booked supposed upscaled, tower room 24th floor, $182.00 per night. Room had view of roof below, looking out towards Volcano. Delux room wasn't worth the extra, standard room was $109.00 a night. Housekeeping needs to get motivated. Saw a food plate left in hallway all three days, we were there. Rooms need cleaning and update. Contacted front desk about inoperative TV, no pay chanels or quest services accessible, never fixed during stay.
Ate at Carvings buffet, $48.00 for two, well worth the price, food very good and good service. Pool side restaurant also decent price $9.00- $15.00 a person. Salads great, huge, more than plenty for two. Excellent service staff!
Spent most of our daytime at Pool. Main pool beautiful. Plenty of lounges, but you need to get poolside by 11:00 or take what you get. Smaller pool to the back nice, but would be great if it was reserved for "adults only."
Bare Pool, topless area very upscale feel, although small. Good music and very attentive poolside and bar staff. Pricey, $30.00 for the guys and $10.00 for the ladies. Ladies topless seemed to be comfortable, with no one bothering them.
If I were to return to Mirage, it would probably be for the Pools and Bars. Rooms wise, much better rooms and rates at Paris and Bally's, where we normally stay.
