We have stayed at a few hotels in Vegas and really like the Mirage the best (so far). On our vacation we tour several of the hotels, eat at a different place each meal and make our decission on where we will stay the next year. This is what we noticed: There is a tie between some of the hotels (sister properties) and it is very obvious when visiting them. Some pay very close attention to detail, they make the property beautiful BUT their customer service is not so great. It is like they only care about "the look" and not the service. At the Mirage, we were impressed that they not only do their best to keep the property looking nice but they also make sure that the lines move smoothly, fast, they are moving about the hotel and casino looking for someone that may need help with something. I was at Harrah's walking around and was wanting to ask a question, it took me amost 30 minutes to find an employee to get assistance.
At the Mirage, they check for room keys at night before alllowing you to get on the elevator. This is really nice preventive security. Their construction starts this month and we upgraded to a volcano room, the volcano was not working due to the remodel so we were comped for not having the erruption view.
One thing I would suggest is that if you are looking to travel up and down the strip, get a 24 hour bus pass for $5.00, it stops at all of thebig name casinos and it is MUCH cheaper than a cab or the tram.
