The first thing I noticed coming in my room was duct tape on the carpet. No mini fridge, no coffe maker, no microwave, not even conditioner. Old carpet,small out of date tv. Thermestat out of date, had low med hi setting. No wifi and charge to use in room dsl line. No room service. The restaurants food was real bad, tasteless. Some of the delers were rude. One good point if your on a tight budget, $5 tables.

NO MORE ROOM SERVICE BECAUSE OF BUDGET CUTBACKS????????
What kind of decent hotel, even Holiday Inn,... doesn't have room service??
And a Las Vegas Strip casino hotel without room service???? What the [--]????
I have been staying at Sahara for years on my business trips cause I've always found it "homey" as one of oldest left standing. There are pictures everywhere (esp in the diner) of the rat pack and Elivis and Pricilla .... this was THE place in the 50's.
Untill recently, they kept the charm with renovations etc. But it was bout out by a corporate conglomerate who obviously doesn't give a crap about the emplyoyees or guests. I used to know folks there who had worked at Sahara for 40+ years. Most of them are gone now. Dealers, pit bosses, waitresses .... all gone
My room was crap .... I am a VIP there having stayed so many times. So I always get a balcony room. The carpet was satined and TORN /// like sections of carpet ripped out. The bed linnens were what you would expect at the WORST Motel 6. I sent laundry out to be done and it took 3 days!!!!!
No more Sahara for me

As one of the oldest originals the Sahara is not the flashiest hotel on the strip by a long shot, but it is excellent value for money.
Its clean, the service is good and although a bit of hike from the Central/South strip area the monorail service is great.
I'd give the Buffet a miss - not good., but the Caravan Cafe serves excellent breakfasts and evening meals. The mexican restaurant ' Pacos' offers fantastic food (in really huge portions). All in all I'd go back there and I'd recommend the Sahara to anyone, who'd rather spend their hard earned cash on the entertainments of Vegas, rather than a flashy hotel room.

I was glad finding a fair price room in Sahara on friday night. However, the hidden facility fee and a very unprofessional person changed my mind. First, no one in the front desk mention about the facility fee. Second, the person who answered my call around (10pm 6/1/2009) was rude and unprofessional. "Every hotel charges hidden fee, even though you prepaid with hotel.com or any other agents." I stayed at Imperial Hotel 2 days ago, and it didn't has any hidden fee so may be is not "every hotel" after all.
