“very happy with the Trop and what smell?”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

My husband and I stayed at the Tropicana on the advice of his uncle who lives in Vegas. It was our first time in Vegas and an anniversary trip. We had reserved a garden room because it was cheapest but upon arrival were upgraded at no charge to a tower room-our travel agent had put a note in that it was our anniversary and birthdays. It was a haul from the front door to the room but check in was a breeze and our luggage was brought up for us. We found the room totally adequate-all we did was sleep in there-it is Vegas after all! Everyone else is talking about the "smell"-neither of us noticed anything. We ate at the buffet twice for breakfast and found it adequate. Our room was clean and had a great view. Perhaps we're not picky travelers but for the price I do not have one complaint about the Tropicana.

“Cant believe the crap some people write”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

You know I really cant believe I stayed in the same hotel as some of these people who took the time to write a review. I mean i will grant you the Tropicana is certainly not the Bellagio but then I did not pay 200 bucks a nite either. But for what I did pay the place was well above average. Trust me I know cause 2 years ago I stayed at the San Remo for even less money but well theres a reason they are tearing it down to revamp it into a hooters. But anyway as for the Trop if you are still reading this my wife and I just returned and did not expierence any of the problems that these other people mention. First we arrived late at nite and had no issues checking in the staff were great even upgraded us to a tower room free of charge which considering we were arriving with out luggage cause it got lost on the Delta flight in that was a nice thing. Our first room was really nice though on the wrong end because my wife wished to have a view of the strip from our window so the next morning she inquired about it and they switched our room immediatly with no hassles. The new room was just as nice with safe and fridge, a large clean bathroom with pleanty of water pressure(wife insisted I add due to others complaints). If one had to have a negative I would have to go with the fact that the pool closes a bit early at least the main one does(6pm) but even so the hot tubs and smaller pool remain open for those wishing to partake. Out side of that my only issue would have to be the amount of money I lost in their slots but heh everyone cant be a winner. So if you are thinking of going to Vegas dont hesitate to pick the Tropicana for the price it is wonderful and if looking for a great buffet I would certainly reccomned the Bayside Buffet at the Mandalay Bay.

We found a great deal on Allegiant Air that included airfare and accommodations at the Tropicana. Several people told us before we went, "it's ok, it's just old". Even after the upgrade to a mini suite, the room still did not include a refrigerator and the ice machine was broken the whole time we were there. After paying the extra $20/night upgrade, we could have stayed across the street at the MGM for the same price. The room was rather dark so we could not tell if it was clean or dirty. The "Trop Shops" consisted of about 10 carts that had stupid gifts and ugly clothing hanging from them and the casino's slots still paid out in change rather than tickets. The on-site show included Folies Bergere, which has been around for 40 years, was definately not worth the $53 per person, despite being a topless show. After all the rave about how nice the pool was, they closed it one of the three days we were there for a private party without prior notice to hotel guests. Had a great time because well...... we were in Vegas, but we will never stay at the Tropicana again. They really need to tear it down and start over.

“Good value hotel”

Tropicana Resort and Casino

Excellent location - shares a crossroads with MGM, New York New York and Excalibur. Mirage and Mandalay Bay just down the road.

Stayed in Island Tower - nice large room (with a mirror on the ceiling which was a little scary!). Clean. Not particularly modern looking but not shabby. Huge bed.

Didn't eat at the hotel as we wanted to try out the buffets in the larger more modern casinos.

Friendly bar for a drink at night. TFoxx provides excellent entertainment a couple of nights a week in the bar - sings everything from Sinatra to Motown to jazz etc.

Would recommend it as a good value place to stay in Vegas, located at the right end of the Strip (Stratosphere is a similar price and is miles away from the main casinos, Trop is right in the heart of it).

My wife, myself and another couple stayed at the Tropicana the week after Memorial Day from the Monday-Friday, and it was a great experience. We arrived early at 9:00am and rooms were not avalible, so we checked our bags and grabbed a bite to eat. At noon, rooms were still not avalible (it was after a long weekend) but the clerk took my information as well as my buddy's and told us to check back with her. When we checked back (didn't have to wait in line), she had managed to get us rooms right accross from each other on the top floor of the Paradise Tower. Great veiw, great room.
We wandered down to the Casino and were looking at the craps table. This is a game we had never played and wanted to know how. Pete and his crew were great. They taught us the game and helped us the entire way through. Fanatastic. We spent the next four nights playing craps with these guys and they were great. They really did care about our experience. We managed to earn comps for tickets to both of their shows as well as a good chunk off of our room bill. The waitreses were friendly and regular. The drinks did not go dry. We even managed to come out a few bucks ahead. We did all of our gambling at the Trop.
Is the Tropicana older, it sure is, but it also provided a great customer expereince. It was personable, the staff and dealer were friendly, and we would go back for sure.
I have stayed at the big mega-casinos, but have never felt as valued as I did at the Tropicana. Great Job. If you go with the right attitude and respect the staff, you will have a great time.
P.S. Don't bother seeing Zumanity at NYNY. If you are thinking it will be like Mysterie, you will be very disappointed.
