Price, location, and hotel pool were key to our decision to stay at the Tropicana. On those key points, they delivered.
Other than the rate per night, there are no other deals or incentives in the casino, restaurants or bars. We were hoping, as guests, to eat shop and gamble where we stayed but ultimately did not spend a dime. "White Southerners" will not do well there.
The room was adequate and view was nice in the Island Tower. Elevator issues plagued us for much of the stay. When walking from elevators to the casino you will walk down a long hallway of kiosk shops and salespeople that will ultimately make you find a different route. Use the side door from parking lot.
The pool is very nice. They also offer an adult pool with a nice waterfall that drowns the noise from the larger pool. It is very close the the Island tower so it is very accessable.
There are good and bad points at the Trop like most places. If you temper your expectations, you will enjoy your stay.

We booked our reservations at the Tropicana in April. We decided to pay the additional money to upgrade our reservations to the Paradise Tower. Three days before we were scheduled to leave, I sent an e-mail to confirm our reservation (something I learned to do to avoid disappointment) and discovered the Paradise Tower was closed for renovations and we would be moved to the Island Tower. I called customer service but the only thing they could do was give us a $10 per night credit. Based on the condition of the rooms in the Island Tower, we decided to stay elsewhere. We will never stay at the Tropicana again!

While on a long and gruesome road trip with 6 friends, we stayed at the Luxor on Thursday night...Which was fine...but got expensive when we wanted to extend our stay on Friday night. We called the Tropicana and got a super great value for Friday night, which was $120 for a room with two doubles.

So we tread over to the hotel, and the check-in process was absolutely amazing! I work in a hotel, so I have high expectations, and was VERY pleased with our staff member, Kimberlee (try to catch her!). She hooked us up with an awesome room with a garden view, next to the PRIVATE pool, ground floor with a patio, two double beds, PLUS a large sofa bed, and a HUGE room!!! Large bathroom too! She was super nice, we had an AWESOME stay, the pool is incredible (lots of yummy young guys floating around, hehe) and we all slept very well. So the Tropicana isn't the Wynn, but for being ON the strip and getting that kind of value and service...who is complaining?

On June 26th 2009 I stayed in the Tropicana. When I made my reservation I had to rant and rave just to get a non-smoking room. Finally I was able to get a Non-Smoking room after 20 minutes! When I got to my room(which I believe was room 4104) was on the bottom level on the garden tower. This room had only two lamps for light, and only one lamp worked. Since it was on the bottom level, there was a sliding door with a small patio which looked like it had not been cleaned in a year or so with cigarette butts, trash, and sandbags all over the ground. The room faced the back of a building with no view. When I tried to connect with Wifi I was told that my floor did not get it. To top it off, one of the beds had a disposable razor head between the sheets. There were long hairs all over the bathroom floor, and a few on the towels. It looked like this room had not been rented out or cleaned for months. It was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, we checked out early the next day and stayed somewhere else. I feel absolutely ripped off for paying what I did for that dump. I will never stay there again.
