On June 26th 2009 I stayed in the Tropicana. When I made my reservation I had to rant and rave just to get a non-smoking room. Finally I was able to get a Non-Smoking room after 20 minutes! When I got to my room(which I believe was room 4104) was on the bottom level on the garden tower. This room had only two lamps for light, and only one lamp worked. Since it was on the bottom level, there was a sliding door with a small patio which looked like it had not been cleaned in a year or so with cigarette butts, trash, and sandbags all over the ground. The room faced the back of a building with no view. When I tried to connect with Wifi I was told that my floor did not get it. To top it off, one of the beds had a disposable razor head between the sheets. There were long hairs all over the bathroom floor, and a few on the towels. It looked like this room had not been rented out or cleaned for months. It was absolutely disgusting. Needless to say, we checked out early the next day and stayed somewhere else. I feel absolutely ripped off for paying what I did for that dump. I will never stay there again.

Basic hotel but i have to say it has got everything around it. It is also in the middle of the strip so when you look out of your window you have got tall and amazing architectors.

A bit dated

It is one of the only hotel & casinos on the strip to have a indoor swimming pool wich is useful if your going in the winter but useless in the summer because they also have a outdoor pool. the ppol is massive it runs threwout the hotel grounds.

the hotel is VERY old and dirty! carpet is worn,old and taped throughout the hotel. the restaurants are awful. they actually served moldy food at players deli and at the garden deli they served watered down orange juice and didn't melt the cheese on a cheese omelet i ordered. food service at legends was VERY slow but food was ok there. the management is awful!!! (which explains why it's such a terrible hotel). our keys for our rooms didn't work on 3 different occasions and hotel staff told us it was because we had different reservations (we stayed in the same room the whole time and they knew that!) each time we had to walk all the way down to the front desk and waste a lot of time (walking and getting new keys) all to find out our keys wouldn't work again 2 more times! someone puked outside our room in the hallway (we told housekeeping and management more than once) and it was never fully cleaned up. one elevator didn't work. our toilet seat in our room was broken. the elevators STINK terribly! when i complained on several occasions about all of this (while i was accommodated in many ways) the problems still remained. all in all the absolute worst hotel i've ever stayed at. stay at the excalibur across the street for basically the same price for a much better hotel. spread the word.........DO NOT STAY AT THE TROPICANA EVER!!!!!!! save your money and hassle and stay somewhere else. trust me it's worth staying somewhere else!!

carpets with tape on them in the casino-- toilets in the casino very basic and more importantly --the pit bosses are in no way friendly and totally disinterested in the punters having a good time which i thought was the objective when trying to lure tourists to your hotel --as for the reputation about giving the best comps i think you will find that is a totall myth--i was with someone who stayed there a couple of times before and they gave him a free room which is standard anyway in vegas once you get a players card and are prepared to gamble for a few hours each evening but they also said they would make my room complimentary as i had a players card from two years ago if i was to re-use it which i did --we both gambled quite a lot --5 hours each per night and we put 400 dollars in extras on the rooms accounts in the belief (from previous vegas visits to tropicana) that it would be complimentary as we gambled a lot of money relatively speaking and when we checked out they did not have the figures correct for what amount of time we were gambling and the amount and then basically told my friend that my room was part of his complimentary extras which is fine but it means they gave me then no credits for gambling which i didnt have to do and he got no extras for his gambling time/money which he didnt have to do as we could have eaten and gambled elsewhere.--staff on reception were totally inefficient and frustrating to deal with even though we had vip check-in through my friend. He will never stay there again and he goes to vegas 4 times a year as he lives in the states and i will never stay there either when i visit vegas -- the rooms in fairness are clean in the tower areas but the decor carpet and curtains are depressing in all rooms --my final advice is stay somewhere better get a players card and you will get the same comps if your prepared to gamble ---if your not gambling just pay a bit extra and enjoy a better hotel.
