Two nights was tolerable. Its 107 outside and about 87 in our room, not comfortable for sleeping, and since the hotel is practically booked, you are not getting another room, we managed and left the ac on high 60. Room was very clean and big, but in need of some updating. We had a nice view of the strip and close to the airport. What made the stay even worse, the gambling. I have been to vegas many times, stayed at many places, I have never however, experienced attitudes or pure miserable people dealing. If they smiled i think their face would crack. Win or lose, the people were just plain miserable! We had to gamble elsewhere just to see if it was us, and it was not. Dealers are much nicer at the dives then they are here. I don't care if the internet rate was 19.99 a night, I will never stay here again. They need to hire people who enjoy their jobs.
Oh, and the machines are worthless, there was a time where you can play the slots for a little while, not here, just take you money and you sit there, wondering why it only took 5 min to lose 100 bucks.

I stayed at the Monte Carlo for 6 nights between August 26 and September 1st. I was very impressed with the hotel and thought it was excellent value for money and in a great location. The room was a good size, was a non smoking room as requested (As was the whole floor), it was very clean and everything was in good order.

I was worried about construction noise after reading previous reviews, however my room overlooked the casino and construction and while I could hear some noise it was not very loud certainly not loud enough to wake me up.

The swimming pools were one reason I chose this hotel and they were excellent, it was good having the choice of a normal pool, a wave pool or the rapid river. The swimming pool area was also very well maintained. I took the tip of a previous review and bought an inflatable ring from the Walgreene store opposite the hotel, to rent one for the day was $12, I bought mine for $4.

Wednesday night there was a free Prince tribute show in the Hotels Brewery bar, this was very good and lasted for over two hours. I liked the casino and found that unlike a lot of other casinos on the strip it was nice and bright.

A good tip is that outside the hotel people were giving out coupon booklets, these allowed you to buy a drink at the hotel bar and receive a free one, they also gave a free upgrade at the Starbucks on site.

If you are going for a few days I would recommend hiring a car and driving 150 miles (3 hours) to Zion National Park, it is truly breathtaking. It is similar to the Grand canyon only a lot greener.

Another tip, if you are travelling from the airport and there is more than one of you, you are best to get a taxi. The airport is very close to the hotels and a taxi will only cost $10, a shuttle bus costs $5 per person.

Also if you have the option try and stay during the week, the hotel cost is a fraction compared to the weekend and Las Vegas is just as busy on a weekday as a weekend.

As much as we have enjoyed the Monte Carlo Hotel, its rooms, service, and best of all pools, over the years, I have to say stay away during construction. The jackhammers and heavy equipment starts around 6AM and the parking structure is closed with temporary parking across the street and very hard to find at certain times during the day or evening.
Construction, in Las Vegas, or any popular resort town, comes with the territory, but no hotel should keep it a secret until arrival. I receive numerous offers from this hotel on a regular basis. I booked via the computer, and then had to follow up the booking with several phone calls because they overcharged me. I then received a confirmation of the booking. Yet, no where, in any of these contacts, did they bother to tell me I would not be able to sleep due to construction. I found this inexcusable, and think you should follow my lead and go elsewhere for the next year or two.

My wife and I and 13-year-old stayed at the Monte Carlo for two nights. It's a large, attractive, well-located hotel on the Strip and well-maintained, though somewhat quieter than many of the surrounding hotels. In addition to a regular swimming pool, they have a wave pool and a lazy river, which our son spent about 2 or 3 hours in (I was in it for about an hour myself). With an outside August temperature of 100+, you can imagine how refreshing that was! This hotel was also very reasonably priced. Since everything is reasonably close on the Strip, you can easily go anywhere you want for dinner, gambling, or shows.

  • Liked — Nice sized room; lazy river
  • Disliked — Not quite as lively as some others on the Strip, but some travelers may like that.
  • Tips/Secrets: — It costs $10 to rent a tube on the lazy river. You might want to bring or buy one instead.

My friends and I just returned from a four day trip from Las Vegas. We stayed at the Monte Carlo from August 27th to the 31st. The hotel was average. I would have to agree with the other reviews that it is very noisy. The rooms facing the strip also have first hand view of the construction of the new casino resort going up next door. Besides the construction noise, you really can hear the toilet flush from the room next door. We didn't spend much time there. The cafe food is on the pricey side considering you can go across the street to La Salsa Cantina for a $2.95 breakfast.

Overall, I would not choose to stay at the Monte Carlo again. Although after a long walk along the strip, it was nice to enter the Monte Carlo because of the rush of clean smelling air. Note that the Venetian and the Wynn have the same air freshener smell.

Warning to all travellers, there is a homeless person who wanders the strip between the Monte Carlo and the Aladdin. She is a very large set woman who smells awful. She is really unkept, but my friends and I almost threw up because of the rancid smell. Be warned to hold your breath as you walk by.
