I took my kids to stay at the Monte Carlo over Spring break and I was terribly disappointed. I read a review that it was the 2nd best "kid" hotel in Vegas with the 2nd best pools which is why I chose it. After booking it I read the reviews on trip advisor about the noise and construction which was very disconcerning so I called the hotel and they assured me that noise was no longer a problem as they were no longer jackhammering. The outside of the hotel is really beautiful/breath taking but the inside is the complete opposite. Our room was very small, tub was plugged so when showering the bottom of the tub was full of water, the ceiling of the bathroom was cracking and splintered as if it would cave in. The housekeepers open the door and knock at the same time, they walked in on us every morning. I also had some of my Chanel makeup stolen. When you go to lounge at the pool you are serenaded with jackhammers and cranes lifting large metal objects over your head and I was awoken every morning between 6 & 7 am to the loud construction sounds. Also the walls in the rooms are so thin that If the construction didn't wake me up the people in the hotel room next to us were waking me with coughing or toilet flushing. If you want a relaxing/restful vacation this is not your place. I will praise them on their buffet food and cafe, that was very good. We also had a view of New York New York's rollercoaster which was cool but I recommend a much higher floor then the 9th which may have solved our outside noise problem. After speaking to management which was nearly impossible, I was told that they are going to be adding a sound proofing to their rooms and she did agree that the housekeepers intrusions have been complained about by others too. It also has a new owner within the last year. It is very sad that such a beautiful hotel on the outside was so deteriorated internally. We stayed at the MGM Grand the last 2 vacations to Vegas and it definitely was a much better hotel experience. I attached a photo of the view at the pool for your amusement...after noticing the terrible pool view while at the check in counter the employee told me (and was serious) that I can watch the building progress while laying at the pool.

We just returned from a two day/night trip to Vegas. The Monte Carlo was great! I had read that the construction noise was very bad but instead heard no noise at all. We did request being put on the opposite side of the hotel from the construction. It was a very good stay and restful night! Loved the buffet for breakfast and the casino for gambling. I found a good rate on Vegas.com. We will definitely stay at the Monte Carlo again!

Very much enjoyed our stay. It was the best price we could find on the internet. Booked a special we saw on TravelZoo.com for 90, including a 25USD food credit. Casino is not too large - so it is easy to come in off the street and get right to your elevator. The casino was never crowded, and there was very little smoking. Monte Carlo is next to New York, New York, and is in easy walking distance to all center strip casinos.
The pools are quite nice, but know there is monstrous construction going on around the hotel. If you are poolside, you will see it all around you and hear it. It is not paradise. However, we did not hear it from inside our rooms at all. Our rooms and the entire hotel were very nicely outfitted, and very comfortable. Would absolutely stay again. Besides, who in Vegas has time to go to the pool?

We are just finishing our first stay at the Monte Carlo. We got a super rate of 69.00 a night thru an email promotion. We stayed in a standard room, it was large, the bed was a very comfy pillowtop. The bathroom was large with good lighting and nice big fluffy towels, plus the water pressure in the shower was amazing! I found the slots to be just a little tight at times (but where aren't they on the strip), we ate twice at the "cafe" the 24 hour restraunt and the food we had both times was excellent and reasonable and the filet mignon eggs benedict was fabulous and fresh squeezed orange juice too! Diabblo's Cantina at the front of the property was fun with good food. The pool area is nice, but, you are surrounded by the City Center Construction, but it did not slow down my sunburn one bit. Our room did face the pool and construction (6th floor) and were not bothered by any construction noise until about 9am of so, and I am a very light sleeper. The McDonalds is a short walk from the elevator to get your morning coffee (yes, starbucks is there but i am not a fan) Mcd's coffee is better and cheaper.
All in all I would stay here again the room was very clean and housekeeping very good. That being said I am very cheap, and will stay only where I can get a good room and good rate at MGM properties. No, I would not stay at Ecalibur or luxor no matter the rate. I did not enjoy those hotel stays.
