I took my kids to stay at the Monte Carlo over Spring break and I was terribly disappointed. I read a review that it was the 2nd best "kid" hotel in Vegas with the 2nd best pools which is why I chose it. After booking it I read the reviews on trip advisor about the noise and construction which was very disconcerning so I called the hotel and they assured me that noise was no longer a problem as they were no longer jackhammering. The outside of the hotel is really beautiful/breath taking but the inside is the complete opposite. Our room was very small, tub was plugged so when showering the bottom of the tub was full of water, the ceiling of the bathroom was cracking and splintered as if it would cave in. The housekeepers open the door and knock at the same time, they walked in on us every morning. I also had some of my Chanel makeup stolen. When you go to lounge at the pool you are serenaded with jackhammers and cranes lifting large metal objects over your head and I was awoken every morning between 6 & 7 am to the loud construction sounds. Also the walls in the rooms are so thin that If the construction didn't wake me up the people in the hotel room next to us were waking me with coughing or toilet flushing. If you want a relaxing/restful vacation this is not your place. I will praise them on their buffet food and cafe, that was very good. We also had a view of New York New York's rollercoaster which was cool but I recommend a much higher floor then the 9th which may have solved our outside noise problem. After speaking to management which was nearly impossible, I was told that they are going to be adding a sound proofing to their rooms and she did agree that the housekeepers intrusions have been complained about by others too. It also has a new owner within the last year. It is very sad that such a beautiful hotel on the outside was so deteriorated internally. We stayed at the MGM Grand the last 2 vacations to Vegas and it definitely was a much better hotel experience. I attached a photo of the view at the pool for your amusement...after noticing the terrible pool view while at the check in counter the employee told me (and was serious) that I can watch the building progress while laying at the pool.
