Two days after we stayed the Venetian/Palazzo announced massive employee layoffs. That explains some of the problems that we had. The rooms were still nice by any standards but some of the "small" things that the Venetian was once known for were no longer being done in the way they had been done in the past. The bell service was VERY SLOW at check in. We asked for a new shower curtain due to mold on the old one and although two people came to look at it a curtain was never delivered. I know these aren't particularly earth shattering events but it does seem to support the prevailing theory that the Venetian is in trouble (isn't everyone?). I believe that the newly reduced rates make it a good deal but the Venetian is no longer the strong 5 star hotel that it once was. But the location remains unsurpassed.
