After staying one night only in December, I can say with confidence that staying in Venetian is one of the best decisions my family has made as far as Vegas hotels is concerned. From the architecture and theme that draws people to it, to the customer service that keeps people there, the Venetian is something worth trying at least once.
We had made our reservations directly via the Venetian's website two weeks in advance and had nothing but anticipation until the date of our weekend getaway.
We did arrive a bit early for check in, but the check in staff gladly let us head up to our room early. We did make requests for a room on a higher floor and close to the elevator on our reservation. We ended up finding ourselves in a room at the very end of the hallway on the 16th floor, but we were content.
The room was huge compared to the many other hotels we've stayed at. Many people did say that the lighting would be dim, but it created a more intimate atmosphere for this very spacious room. The beds were very comfortable and I couldn't stop playing with the remote controled window shades.
We did have an issue, but it was quickly resolved. The television in the "bedroom" was not working. We gave a call to the front desk, that was quickly answered after only one ring, and they said they would send someone up. After 10 minutes, there was someone at our door to give the television a look. They said they'd send a new one up and they did. I think they went above and beyond just to makes sure we had that television working when we could have used the other two in the room.
I can't say anything about the gambling aspects of the Venetian, but my parents did say they were "successful".
We didn't eat at the restaurants at the hotel because of the prices being so high. I assume they're nice if people went there even with the high prices, but we just ate across the street at TI.
Hopefully, if the time comes and the prices are right, we will see ourselves back at the Venetian.

Looked at reviews on Tripadvisor and was perplexed by the great reviews followed by people who had a bad experience...had to see for myself. The Venetian is a really good Las Vegas hotel. It isn't perfect...none are in that price range, but its' combination of amenities and location are hard to beat. The rooms are VERY nice (650 sq feet!!!), although I agree with one reviewer that they could use more over head lighting. Three flat screens. Spacious seating, desk, views, large bathroom with tub and shower. My room was quiet except for the once-in-while loud guest. (that's hard to avoid in Vegas too.) The doors do close rather forcefully, but unless it is within 30 feet of yours it isn't an issue. Comfortable beds, black out drapes. Hard to figure out how such a big place could do it much better. Check in wasn't quick, but ok. Check out and baggage handling was excellent. Only problem I had was they put us in a non-view room when I had requested a view one. Quick call to the desk and they agreed, moved me to a suitable room immediately. I did go down to get a key, but it was fast and easy. Score one for taking care of the problem quickly and easily. The Canyon Ranch Spa is wonderful. Massage costs were high, but the facility was first rate. Great restaurants throughout! Shopping in the hotel was wonderful. The ambiance is incredible and I will return for sure.

Our friends constantly stay at the Venetian and we wanted to try it out. Previously, we had stayed at Wynn.

Upon arriving, we went into the lobby and a man directed us into the Venezia lobby (we did not book a Venezia room). We thought this was just to get us by the long lines. Once in the Venezia lobby, a lady at the front desk was rude to us by telling us to stop walking forward in the line. I didn't get that. We were checked in by a man who tried to put us in a Venezia Bella Suite on the fifth floor. We had called the hotel two weeks before we left to upgrade us to a Venetian Bella View Suite, which costs more than a Venezia Bella Suite. We explained the situation and he kindly got us back to our original upgraded room with a strip view on the 31st floor. We overheard the couple next to us and they were having similar problems.

When we arrived in our room, we noticed that the bathroom was very small with no tub and no water closet. We also noticed that there were no steps leading into the living room. We concluded that this must be a handicap accessible "suite". Our strip view was also only of the tops of most of the hotels. The Venezia tower was blocking our view.

The next day, we were lucky that we got to the pool early because it got packed later through the day. The Palazzo's pool had not been finished yet, so guests of the Palazzo all had to use the two Venetian pools. It was chaos and there was loads of construction noise from the condo tower being built in between the two properties. This condo tower will eventually block out the sun at the pools when it is completed. There was no complementary water or chilled orange slices at this pool like there was at the Palazzo which we would stay at later. Also, there was only a small section of the pool deck with chairs in the water, which constantly had the five year olds splashing around it. That area also didn't get sun until roughly two PM.

Some nights were fine, but some we missed turndown service and others there were little kids running up and down the halls. We did not report this.

The Venetian didn't WOW us like we thought it would. Although the exterior, the shops and lobby are amazing, the rest isn't anything special. It doesn't deserve five diamonds because it can't offer consistently superior service. The Palazzo is much quieter, yet fun and is more of a luxury resort. Club Grazie (the players club) is very good though.

Our family of four, myself, husband and two boys, aged 16 and 13 spent 8 nights at the Venetian over Christmas break. In deciding which hotel to stay at, we liked the fact that the suites at the Venetian were large enough to accommodate the four of us in one room, but were a little concerned over the mixed reviews on cleanliness that we read on Tripadvisor. In the end, the fact that several of the shows we wanted to see were in or near the Venetian helped us decide to stay here. Overall, we were happy with our choice.

The hotel is beautifully decorated, and our room was cleaned properly every day. We stayed in a Rialto suite which had 2 queens and a sofa bed, a round table that could seat 4, spacious desk area and a large bathroom. The negatives of the room were that there was alot of extra foyer space in the Rialto that isn't used for anything, there is not much space for clothes - one cabinet with shelves, no drawers, and a closet that is situated in the bathroom so that if someone is taking a shower, you can't get to the closet. Also, our room was quite dark as the sunlight didn't reach the window, and the lighting level in the room was very low.

The elevators are well designed so that we never had to wait, despite 4000 rooms in the hotel. The Venetian has a good selection of restaurants, and we particularly enjoyed breakfasts at the Bouchon restaurant and bakery, and the Canyon Ranch Spa Cafe. We noted that checking in to the hotel could take a very long time, but we checked in at 1 am in the morning so had no wait at all. We found the service in all areas of the hotel to be very friendly. The casino area is very attractive and not too smoky. The pool was not open though, we assume because the weather was very cold.

One of the best things for us was the Venetian's location on the strip. We could easily cross Las Vegas Blvd to get to the Mirage and Caesars Palace, and the Bellagio was a nice 20 minute walk. The Wynn was only a 10 minute walk away.

Note that there is no video arcade in the hotel, so if that is important, then staying at the MGM end of the strip would make more sense (MGM Gameworks, Luxor, Ex Calibur, NY NY all have video arcades).

  • Liked — breakfast restaurants and shows, location on the strip
  • Disliked — food was expensive

My boyfriend and I stayed at the Venetian for 3 nights mid-December, during a snowstorm that made me feel more like I was at home in Vancouver than in the desert!
The Venetian is a good spot on the strip, close to Fashion Show Mall and Forum Shops. I chose the Venetian knowing (from research) that the rooms would be fantastic and they were as advertised! Bathroom is amazing, clean and well-kept, with vanity area, bath and shower and one sink for each of us! Bed and pillows are lush and comfortable. The only thing I found to criticize about the room cleaniness was that they did not thoroughly vacuum - there was a potato chip under the table of the sitting area that remained there our entire stay.
It was convenient getting from the guest elevator to anything else... casino, food court, restaurants, shops. The Grand Canal is beautiful! We didn't check out the pool since it was a snowy winter. Venetian is of course connected to the Palazzo and their property is just as beautiful and a short walk away. We went to Lavo Nightclub (free cover and $50 worth of drinks included with our package) and I enjoyed their lounge more so than the nightclub - house music and tasteful decor.
I agree with what I read in other reviews that as soon as you walk in the doors, there is a perfumy smell that some may not enjoy. I didn't find it pungent and it was not noticable after a few minutes.
Our last night we had a power outage, so all our lights and phone lines were down, but it was late so we didn't bother changing and going down to find out what was happening. At checkout, we mentioned about the power outage and the front desk rep explained that they knew there would be a power outage but only guests checking in that day were notified - I found that was not very considerate to guests. Also at checkout, we found that there was somehow $160 worth of long distance charges on our account!!! We explained that we did not make any calls and the rep didn't question us, disputed the charges for us and cleared our balance.
In general, a fantastic stay at a beautiful hotel!
