I have never written a negative review of a hotel before, but felt so strongly about this one, I am compelled to do so. The property was superficially opulent, but the trimmings are not substantiated. The lobby/casino were "okay" by Las Vegas standards. Ventilation and signage were poor. Service was exceedingly poor, with a poor attitude overall.
The room was large - but that's where the positives end. It was musty, borderline clean, and was the most poorly lighted room, I've ever stayed in. What may have once been nice furnishings are showing their age.
The worst problem was one encountered shortly after arrival. My husband broke a tooth, and was in severe pain. We left the room in a rush, and sought help from the concierge. The person adamantly refused to help him find emergency dental help. She finally handed him a phone book. After several calls , and no success finding help, my husband demanded to see a manager, and was finally put in touch with a dentist who would see him. Not unexpectedly, he left in a rush. I then discovered that I had left my 'key' in the room - and he had taken his with him. I went to the front desk. I asked for a new key, and they asked for photo ID. I had left this in the room as well. I explained the situation, and asked if security could let me in, and I could produce my ID. The woman then pulls up the reservation, which was made by my husband's secretary - in his name. She begins to berate me in a loud voice, in a crowded lobby - says she cannot help me, my name isn't even on the reservation and I have no ID. I have never been talked to this way anywhere by anyone. I asked to see a manager. She stomped off, then returned with a young man. When I opened my mouth to explain, he cut me off, said he'd heard it all from his employee, and they couldn't help me.
It took me hours to reach my husband by phone because he was having an emergency dental procedure. When I did, he called the front desk, then called me back. I returned to the desk, stood in line for a while, was waited on by someone else, explained the issue again. He retreated to the back, returned with a new 'key' to my room and gave it to me. No ID, no security, no manager, no apology, no explanation, nothing. All based on a phone call by someone who said he was my husband. I have never encountered such ineptitude or rudeness in many years of traveling and staying in first rate hotels. It won't happen again. Joan Pizitz MD Birmingham, AL
