Is it even possible to write a review of Venetian? I mean, this is one of the largest hotel complexes in the world with I think 7000 rooms. I stayed 10 days when I recently attended a convention and will try my best to sort things out for you.
First of all. Venetian is really three hotels in one: Venetian (original), Venezia Tower and Palazzo. I have listed them in build order. Great, you may think that the Tower would be nicer than the original Venetian, wrong! Sort of. They are in the process of renovating rooms in the original Venetian so many rooms are actually nicer compared to the newer built Venezia Tower. The new rooms are of course nicer with LCD TV's and modern interiour.
Venetian and Venezia Tower can be considered to be one hotel. Palazzo has its own web page and the most luxoriost part of the complex. Palazzo guests have their own pool area but are allowed to Venetian pools, not vice-verca.
When I arrived I got a room on the 17th floor. No view but the room was renovated and got LCD TV's. Internet connection is free of charge but my room only had a cable connection at the desk. I wanted wireless so after two days I switched to a room on the 10th floor. Again no view but as I booked the room as part of the convention at a discount rate, I expected nothing else.
Yes I call it a room instead of suite. It was indeed a great room with a clearly separate "living room" area but it is still one room. I have stayed at Treasure Island and Mandalay Bay, this room was much much nicer.
Be sure to ask for a renovated room and consider view and wireless internet connection. It may be difficult to get all three without upgrading.
I had a great stay and my single complaint would be the lousy Internet service. Sure, it's free but it hardly works. It's an insult to call it "high-speed". Besides that, this is a great hotel with friendly staff that will do their outmost to make you happy.
