“Excellent dinner”

Aqua Knox

Apr 28, 2008

We ate an early dinner at Aqua Knox on a Sunday evening before the crowds. We asked for a quiet table and had a lovely booth away from the bar noise. Waiters were efficient and attentive but a bit chatty. Sommelier Pierre was top notch. We had a tomato mozzarella salad and a lobster bisque for starters. Soup was outstanding and salad was unusual and delicious. I ordered fresh grilled branzini that the waiter assured us was so fresh they'd only received 3 fish for the evening. The branzini was carefully deboned at the table and fresh. My husband ordered a salmon that he felt was the best preparation he'd eaten. The dessert menu is uninspiring and we ordered a chocolate malt that was average. We had a great meal and I'd recommend it.

“Scrumptuous Seafood”

When you first approach AquaKnox (located in the Venetian), you see a wall of blue water. The view combined with the restaurant name, hints at the food choice on the menu. After being welcomed without a dinner reservation on a weekday and being promptly seated (with a short wait at a bar outfitted with goldfish looking type glass in blue while table was being set), I was surprised to find steak mixed in as a seafood combo.

The skinny bread sticks and salmon mousse made for a good snack before the appetizer of oysters came along. Both were delicious. I ordered the jumbo scallop dish, and the portion looks small but was completely filling. Each bite I took introduced another layer of flavor and the texture of scallop (soft & chewy)and parsnips (thin and light) made for a good pairing.

Our server was polite (enough to allow us to bring outside drinks in) when taking our order and we only had to ask for a refill of water once from the other server. Afterward, he would appear to refill drinks whenever they fell below the halfway mark on our cups and made sure we had the proper seafood eating utensil.

We weren't kept waiting and waiting, even if the chef had to grill a steak to go along with the crab and lobster for the three-piece combo. And while there was a bit of down time, this was made up for with food that came out hot, steamy and insanely flavorful.

I was so full I couldn't order desert, which made me sad and pouty. But our server returned with a small sample of deserts (evil as they were tempting).

Overall, the food is excellent, the service above average, and the ambience great!

Food was spectacular, down to the amuse bouche they serve to you in the beginning. We shared the crab cakes which were on the small side and pricy at $18 but tasted amazing! Real, fresh crab meat, very little filler and it was truly the best crab cakes I had ever had. I had the John Dory while my dining partner had the scallops - amazing. My fish was grilled to perfection and the accompanying sauce was fantastic. Scallops were gigantic, easily the largest I've ever seen! You're only served 4 but were still quite filling. Had the chocolate brownie and creme brulee for dessert which were also excellent. Along with dinner, 2 cocktails, tax and tip, our bill was 158 which is quite reasonable in comparison to other restaurants in Vegas of the same calibre.

Service was amazing - attentive but not overbearing. We actually made reservations a month ahead using OpenTable and I was very disappointed when we were seated almost right by the bar and at the front entrance! As I looked around with a look of discontent on my face for our server, a host noticed my expression and immediately asked if something was wrong. I explained we wanted to sit by the kitchen and he promptly arranged a table for us right beside the kitchen! It was fantastic!

I highly recommend this place to others but be warned that it can be pricy but I believe the quality of the food, meal experience and service would be excellent and well worth the extra dollar.

“Not a great experience”

My husband and I dined at AquaKnox for the first time last week. Our bus girl and wine sommelier were very attentive, our waiter was almost invisible. After we didn't choose the $170. surf and turf for 2, he disappeared. We split 6 oysters as an appetizer. I had the grilled branzino, which was very nice. My husband ordered the scallops, without the sweet potatoes. In a huge bowl, he got 4 scallops over a bed of spinach - lacking for a $35. entree. We skipped dessert, and the bill, with tip, still came to $200. I've had much better in a Vegas top-chef restaurant than that. We will not dine here again.

“Best in Las Vegas”

A few times a year, I find myself on business in Las Vegas. As a result, I have been lucky enough to try many of the exquisite restaurants in the area. I think Aquaknox is the best. They have a fun bar scene - complete with raw bar in the front of the restaurant. If you're looking for a small meal, you might try getting a couple of the appetizers in the bar area.
I love the lobster cocktail. It is remarkably fresh. But, I can say the same about everything here. The restaurant is lovely with wonderful booths and charming tables. If you have a large party, they have a room in the back which will accommodate.
The service is excellent with a minimum of two servers continuously floating nearby in case you need anything. I've taken several people here over the years; we have always had a fantastic experience. On my most recent trip, I tried the lobster entree - grilled. It was a full lobster stuffed with crabmeat. It was heavenly.
They have a lovely wine list; complete with several excellent wines by the glass.
Enjoy.
