What a fantastic hotel in a fabulous place. Never in all of my life have I ever been to such an amazing place (Vegas), and never will I in the future. From start to finish, the hotel and Vegas itself was out of this world.

Great hotel, reasonably priced, great staff, great location (near the Venetian, and next door to the Mirage - don't forget to watch the erupting volcano of the Mirage, and the Pirate Battle of Treasure Island!).

The room we had was on quite a high floor – which was great, as we could see the Rockies in the distance from our beautiful, standard, massive room!

Lots of nice restaurants and bars in this hotel alone -let alone out on the strip!

Top things to do while visiting Vegas:
1) Visit the Hoover Dam - we did this via tour operator Keith Prowse -recommended. We did a black canyon river raft (not white water - rather peaceful), which started at the foot of the dam, through the canyon to the end, then we were picked up and driven over the Dam, then were taken inside the Dam for a tour - an absolute must!
2) Visit the Grand Canyon - an amazing day - we did it via aeroplane, flew over the Canyon, then landed and took a bus trip through the Canyon National Park (again through Keith Prowse).
3) Dine at the 'Top of the World' restaurant at the Stratosphere Hotel. This is a revolving restaurant, with fabulous views over the Strip while you dine - great food. Then up onto the observation deck -a must! The hotel itself is in quite a ‘rough area’ though – so as soon as you’ve eaten, get a cab back onto the main strip for peace of mind!
4) Try to fit in as many of the Hotels special 'walkway shows' as you possibly can. My favourites were the Mirage volcano, Treasure Island Pirate show, Bellagio fountains, the Mirage white tigers is great to do also. I also heard that the sharks at Mandalay Bay were great too.
5) Sample some of the great Casinos - you don't have to spend an arm and a leg! Best Casinos we went to were Caesar’s Palace and the Venetian.
6) Take a walk inside the Venetian Hotel - and have a gondola ride - amazing! I can go on and on about this place. Enjoy!

“Christmas at TI”

We booked about 4 weeks before Christmas for a week at TI starting 20 December, and were surprised at the rates are low / reasonable over the Christmas period (but they do go sky high over New Year).

For those thinking of a stay over a similar period be aware that pre Christmas is about the slowest time of year in Vegas. So two restaurants in TI were shut when we arrived - one (Isla) reopened on the 24th, another (Francesco) on the 25th. The Sirens show was shut until the 26th, which did disapoint quite a few people. (In my opinion the Sirens show is nothing like as good as the 'old' show where the pirates sank the Brits, but hey - nothing stays the same for ever!).

The Brits going should also be aware that it can be bloody cold in Vegas at this time of year! I expected cold at night - we found it can also be cold during the day - especially if the wind is blowing - but it was always bright and sunny. For those who want to 'escape' Christmas, its quite easy in Vegas - everything associated with the hotels etc just continues pretty much as normal (the buffet prices on Christmas day might increase by a few dollars, but we ate on Christmas day in a restauarant which just had normal menu / prices - but we did have to wait 50 minutes in the bar to get a table - which was our choice we could have eaten at the bar straight away)

Overall we liked TI for its location. We also found that because it is not HUGE that it was easy to find your way around. Staff were usually friendly, and check in / out was easy.

I had noticed some comments in Trip Advisor about noise. We were lucky in that the people in adjacent rooms were quiet. However, our room did have an interconnecting door to one of the next rooms. It was noticeable that we could hear the couple in that room having a normal conversation - and the noise came via the interconnecting door. So if you are concerned about noise, ask for a room with no connecting door (you might not be as lucky with quiet people in adjacent rooms as we were).

We hired a car for the last few days of our stay and found that picking the car up at the hotel (Dollar have a desk there) and dropping it off at the airport saved a lot of time and hassle. For the Brits arriving at Terminal 2, do not fall for the men in suits offering a limo to the hotel who will tell you there is a long wait for a taxi. Look left, follow the sign for the taxi line, walk about 30 yards, turn a corner and there is a line of taxis waiting! (about $20 including tip to TI)

We had stayed in Las Vegas once before - at the MGM Grand.

I preferred TI for
- Location. There is easy walking access to Venetian, Fashion Show Mall, Forum shops and restaurants. The free tram / monorail to the Mirage is even easier. We saw shows at TI, Mirage and Venetian. Its easy to use the restaurants at these places too. For those using a car there is easy access from the TI Self Parking via Spring Mountain Road to the Interstate - so you do not have to sit in a traffic jam on the Strip.
- Size - TI is easier to find your way around.

I preferred MGM Grand for
- General impression. TI is a bit 'tired' - carpets etc do not look new. The room bathroom was not pristine (not dirty, but was obviously well used).
- Food. Food choice at TI is not great. Breakfast is OK (Coffee shop and Buffet were OK) but in the evening we only ate in TI once - at Islas which was OK. Other nights we ate either at the Mirage, Venetian, Forum shop restaurants etc all close by. If you want to eat in your hotel TI is not great (but you can hop on the tram to the Mirage or walk across the bridge to the Venetian where there are better choices of eating places.)

“Great Room Great Beds”

The beds really are the best ever, they're just soooo comfortable. The room we had was on a high corner overlooking the strip; it was a great spot and had a window on each side of the room overlooking different aspects of the strip and mountains. We were delighted with it. The cleaning service was good and the bed was stripped every day. The safe was a bonus. Unfortunately being over the strip meant we could hear the construction very early every morning (by 5am) but with earplugs, late nights and cocktails we got over it.

We ate at most of the hotel's restaurants - The Coffee something, Social House, Steakhouse, Pho, Buffet and Kahunaville. Avoid The Coffee whatever, the breakfasts and coffee are terrible, the Social House was really great for a japanese dinner, the food was fantastic and the staff very helpful. We enjoyed the Steakhouse for dinner too but couldn't finish the volumnous dishes and Kahunaville for lunch was just okay but again there was too much to eat. Pho we ate at for sustinence rather than taste and it was just okay too but we ate breakfast at the Buffet twice and thoroughly enjoyed it.

The hotel's location is great and with the Fashion Mall and Wynn directly connected by bridges we were able to shop and drop a lot! The Venetian's also connected by a bridge just 100m from the hotel door so it was a good spot to go for breakfast.

Mystére was spectacular and the theatre is huge. We sat up high in the centre and we reckon they're the best seats to see all the action that goes on all around and above the main stage.

The slots were definitely tight and we won most on both the slots and tables in O'Sheas, Casino Royale and the Mirage.

The Mist Lounge was lovely for an evening drink and the bar at Social House was nice too. The staff at both were very nice. The Breeze Bar was okay but having to spend $20 per comped drink seemed a lot. They also filled every drink with ice and frowned when we'd ask to skip the ice. In our opinion the staff weren't as friendly as any other bar staff in Vegas.

Overall we had a great time at TI and would stay again.

“Great Stay - Nice Hotel”

Stayed at Treasure Island by booking directly through the hotel. Paid $79 for a regular room and ended up with a quality stay. We schmoozed a little with check-in clerk and wound up with a corner room with a nice view. For a standard room, we felt it was a very nice size room. Housekeeping was very good. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of electrical outlets for devices. The bathroom was also very good.

We traveled with friends and they did have to wait until later in the day to get their room cleaned so they could move in. Did also get the run around trying to find out about availbe coupons as different people sent us to different desks.

I can recommend the buffet at the hotel and we ended up starting each day by eating there. The food was consistently good. As for the casino, we enjoyed going down and playing the slots and craps table even if we didn't always have the best luck., Drink service at the slots was mixed but good at the tables. Quck access to the Fashion Mall via the sky bridge where there is a discount ticket outlet for shows and exhibits. You can also take the free tram over to the Mirage and then walk across the street to Casino Royale or Harrahs where the nearest monorail station is (still quite a long hike.) There is also a nearby sky bridge to the Venetian.

For the price paid, TI was a very good bargain and we would definitely stay there again.

My husband and I arrived the evening of 12/21. We upgraded to a petite suite. The room was not very clean but I tried to overlook this becasue I was was so happy to have a mini vacation with my husband. I have never seen so many children in Vegas before. We take about 4 trips a year to Vegas from Albuquerque. Strollers going through the casino at 1 in the morning with screaming children. I love children but this seemed crazy! On Saturday morning I went to play some slots and noticed a man at the penny slots with his two young daughter(maybe 6 and 8 yrs old). He was giving them money to put into the machines. I told him it was illegal and he acted shocked but could barely speak english. We ate at The Steakhouse on Saturday evening and at the beginning we were very impressed. Our waiter was great and the bread was to die for. My husbands steak that he ordered medium rare came out well done. Our waiter insisted that he take it back. The new steak came out rare. My husband took one bite and it was rare and cold in the center. We asked for the manager and he apologized and removed half of our bill. We love to eat out and this ruined our evening. My husband took it personal. The next day we were suppose to leave but my husband began violently throwing up. I checked us out and took him to the ER off of Flamingo. He had e-coli. We had to change our flight to the next day because he was so sick. I refused to go back to TI that night. I checked us into Mandalay Bay and he slept until the next day when we had to leave. Our 10 year old daughter was so happy we made it back on Christmas Eve. My husband was in his bed on Christmas Eve and Christmas. Our daughter and I had to celebrate Christmas with relatives but without my husband. We will never stay at the TI again!!
