This was the third time I have stayed at the Treasure Island Hotel & Casino in Las Vegas. The reservations, including one change, was handled very smoothly and efficiently. In addition, my check-in was handled quite well. Check-out however was another story. I actually had to insist on looking at the bill before leaving the hotel. I found one erroneous charge, for a meal at a restaurant that I have never used, ever. I was questioned about whether I had forgotten that I charged a meal which I found a bit insulting. I then had to sign a statement saying the charge was false, again a bit of a hassle. The form I signed did not reverse the charge but said they were only temporarily removing the charge until their accounting department investigated. Three weeks later and I have not heard anything.
The restaurants in the Treasure Island Hotel I did visit on this trip were, at best, mediocre. There is a reason they give all those coupons to get people to visit Kahunaville. Even with the coupons, the meals were not a value. The "water and light show' within the restaurant were perhaps the most lame of any show I have ever seen. Lights dim and jets of water go up and down in on a small fountain at the side of the restaurant. Spotlights of different colors then shin on the small jets of water. I never saw the point. The food was again only fair. I suppose they were trying to mimic a tropical ambiance but did not succeed very well. There is a Starbucks in the hotel and it did not disappoint. It was just like nearly every other Starbucks and was a good value.
The room was nice and well appointed. The bathrooms were clean but the service was a bit erratic. Sometimes towels were replaced after use, sometimes not. Sometimes used soaps were replaced, sometimes not. There was no stationary or guide to the hotel in the room either. The bed however was very comfortable and I slept well.
Treasure Island has a nice location in the Central Strip area. There is also a monorail shuttle to the Mirage next door and an adjacent bridge over the strip to the Venetian. There is a large shopping center across the street from Treasure Island as well if you are into shopping. There are plenty of good restaurants nearby but not so much within the hotel.
Would I stay there again? Yes, probably. It can be a relatively good value for a hotel in the Central Strip area and is close to the Venetian and Sands Convention Center. That being said, don't expect a lot and then you won't be disappointed.
