When my company conference at the Mandalay ended, the wife and I moved to the Orleans for two nights. We are not big gamblers, so I can't comment much on the gaming scene.

We had a car and never took the shuttle. It's a good thing because I'd have no tolerance for losing a shuttle ride to people who hadn't been waiting nearly as long.

No complaints with check in or out. We stayed in 884. Room was excellent except for shower, which drained way too slow. Probably a hair clog in tub drain. I mentioned it to desk while checking out, so maybe they'll fix it.

I used the coupon book to get free gym usage. On first glance, the gym looked great. Only while trying to actually use the equipment did I notice that most of it was very difficult to adjust (seat height etc.) and uncomfortable to use. Also, it all only goes up to 150lbs, which is fine for most, but can be a tad light for some. It was adequate for 'tiding me over' for a day or two, but I'd have been ticked if I had paid to use it.

We only noticed near the end that there was some free deck parking, but I'm not sure if it would have been convenient. The valet deck parking was to the right if viewing Orleans from the front, the free deck parking was to the left and somewhat behind the place. We parked in the lot in front, and it was a minor pain walking across the 4 or 6 lanes of lot traffic to get to the car.

Food-we had two very good breakfasts at the main breakfast place there. I recommend the omelet, which is huge. Oddly, they never offered to refill my coffee, which was not that cheap at 1.75. Should have gone to Seattle Best for that, I suppose. Lots of other restaurants/entertainment on site that we did not try.

Overall: pleased with our stay, especially after the trauma of staying at the Mandalay. Would recommend the Orleans heartily.

We loved this hotel!! I layed by the pool and went to the movies while my husband played poker. They also have a great bowling alley. They had a shuttle to the strip and their other casinos. It was so great staying off the strip because when you stay on the strip you are worn out from walking. We rented a car for the week (around $100) and darted over to the strip whenever we wanted.

The hotel staff was friendly and helpful.

The only downside was that the pool closed at 7pm and the Hot tub is in the pool area.

Food: We ate Subway every day for breakfast. Its one of the best Subways I ever ate at because the bread was so fresh and they just made things really nice.

Italian restaurant, forgot the name...

Eat the Strawberry Walnut Salad...

This is the best Salad I have ever eaten. European lettuces with halved strawberries, candied walnuts and bread crumbed chicken on top. I was afraid to try it but I am so glad I did.

Cafe - Cafe is open from about 10 pm to 7 am or something. Everything I ate in here was wonderful. I ate a seafood Chinese dish at 2 am and it was the best. They also have breakfast specials $1.99 Be prepared, it stays packed.

Buffet: It was okay but nothing to write home about.

Also, have deals for shows at other Casinos. Buy the Package Deal for dinner and show at the GoldCoast. I saw forever plaid and had a gourmet dinner in the Gold Coast Italian restaurant for $25. Show and dinner were great.

Stayed 7/8-7/11, as reported by others here - rooms spacious and clean, no surprises. One minor thing though - anybody looking for coca cola products (I'm a diet coke fanatic) will be in trouble, as the entire property seems to only carry Pepsi products, even in the gift shop, had to run to convenience store to stock up. Good selection of slots/video poker.
All in all, very pleased and would stay again. One other thing, we had a late flight out and after asking about late checkout, was offered a half day rate good until 6PM, worked well for us.

We've just about always stay at The Orleans -- we're in Vegas about three times a year -- definitely twice for business. But since they've installed heavy doors that make a very loud noise if one of us gets up in the middle of the night and open bathrooms without doors, so if my husband is in the bathroom, I can't get my makeup on. And many times we have to rush to get to our conventions because of this. We were told this is because disabled people can use them -- which I totally agree with -- but they should have some floors with regular bathrooms, like they have for smoking and non-smoking. So, unfortunately this trip we had to book elsewhere.

We stayed over a Saturday and Sunday (paying $80 and $60 respectively), and -- for the quality of the rooms -- the Orleans was a real bargain. Getting a lot of bang for my buck makes for the start of a good vacation. Rooms were very clean, bed comfortable, and bathroom luxurious. We stayed at the Venetian a couple months ago (when someone else was footin' the tab), and I thought the Orleans held its own and was a whole lot cheaper. Room highlight: great shower with a little window with a view of the Strip... nice way to start the day! The shuttles to and from the Strip were often crowded. Instead of waiting, we would usually ask another couple waiting if they wanted to split a cab. At $6 each ($12 including tip was the full fare), we were at the Strip in a couple minutes. The shuttles sounded fine until I saw how crowded they were... if there were more running, it'd be a great system. I did have my car with me and shaded parking was no problem, though I opted to park near the casino instead of near the check-in desk which could appear somewhat chaotic. Driving down to the Strip was easy and parking on the Strip is plentiful as all the casinos have free self-park. The Orleans also has lots of restaurants and conveniences located nearby... easily within walking distance but seconds away with a car. That is most certainly NOT the case when I've felt "captive" on the Strip. All in all, a very enjoyable experience. Thumbs for the Orleans.
