Good points - Room is large, clean, and bed is comfortable. Reasonable base price.

Bad points - $12.99 a day for Internet use in your room. That charge is criminal. They claim to have FREE Internet use at the Seattle Best Coffee Shop. Been here a week and unable to use FREE Internet. They might allow maybe 2 users, all else they deny an IP address. I have to go to a coffee shop out in the city for Internet Access. They also tack on a hidden $5 resort fee per day. I am considering writing the Federal Trade Commission. This is deceptive advertising. This resort fee is for Free unlimited local calls and for providing coffee in your room. I don't believe I can opt out of this charge. I search for hotels based on rates, location, and amenities, and then I get hit with a hidden fee.

One other item is it seems like it is a 3 mile walk from the elevator to my room. I'm in fairly good shape but it is a long walk at the end of the day. Also, I am on the 3rd floor on the front of the building so I hear delivery trucks in the morning. Otherwise it is a quiet room.

The Internet issue will prevent me from staying here again. Keep in mind it is not on the strip but I had a car and that was OK for me.

I would stay there again rooms were nice, beds were comfortable. But there valet service and room service was terrible. The valet guys were very rude. Its not as nice as some of the hotels on strip . But for the money it was great.

Room was large, well kept, large bath with a nice view of the strip. Location was mixed, not on strip but parking was easier than if it was. The shuttle buses ran regularly. We thought Big Al's Oyster bar was great (including the halibut, salmon & oysters). All of the staff were friendly & helpful except the surly cashiers at the buffet at breakfast but the staff in the buffet made up for it. We occupied ourselves for for days without ever looking at the table between shows, Red Rock Canyon & eating.

Our likes were the spacious and clean rooms, and the better-than-expected dining options (especially Don Miguel's Mexican); also, the price was reasonable. Very nice pool area.

One strong dislike was the cluelessness of the front desk and other hotel personnel regarding a major event occurring at their own hotel. No one we talked to seemed to have any idea of where/when the event was taking place, even though it was on the big marquee in front of the hotel! Also, the overwhelming stench from decades (?) of cigarettes smoked was awful; even on our non-smoking floor it simply reeked.

Overall, a marginal thumbs up based on decent value, good sized and clean rooms, and better-than-expected dining.

It was our first trip to Vegas and in hindsight I would have splurged and stayed at one of the iconic hotels located on the Strip but if you are looking for good value, no-frills accommodation at $40 a night then The Orleans is an okay option. We caught the shuttle that ran on a regular timetable we never had to wait longer then 15 minutes and the shuttle drivers were friendly and a pleasure to tip. Pros: Great king sized comfortable bed and cheap dining options with lots of choices. Cons: Location (at least a 15 minute bus ride to/from the strip so you felt "trapped" at the hotel and isolated from the action, below average service (we encountered a rude and abrupt Manager at the front desk), you were surrounded by tasteless decoration, casino had a cheap ambiance. My advice is to spend the extra money and go stay at one of the better hotels at Las Vegas. It's a worthwhile investment.
