About 3 years ago we stayed at NY NY, our out take on this property was horrible. If I wanted to be treated like I was in New York, I could drive 20 min. from my NJ home. Needless to say we tried other places. We stayed at Luxor (Hated it), The Mirage (to many kids), and Treasure Island (Loved it before they turned it into TI). This past trip we got a good deal for NYNY so we decided to deal with it and go. Well to our surprise Check in was a breeze (VIP Check In), the lady was very nice and when we asked for a non ajoining room, she switched us right away (bad experience at the Luxor with adjoining rooms). Our room was on an end, it was a park ave deluxe room. We were by the roller coasters top drop! We heard it ,but it didnt bother us. Water pressure was ok, shampoo was awsome. I brought earplugs this trip to Vegas because everywhere we stayed we never slept through the night....well this was a first!! We heard nothing, no people slamming doors, yelling, kids, it was great! The beds and pillows were quite comfy too. I enjoyed our room 1919.
As for the casino well, it is very small and it gets sooo crowded at night. We ate alot at the America restaurant (food good, service needs work). We also ate at the Italian Restaurant (la Potillio ??) it was so good, you don't get alot of food for the money, but it was good fresh cooked food for 2 entees, drinks and 1 dessert it was about 47.00 (you decide)
So after all this I was quite pleased with our second stay at NY NY. Parking was easy, it also worked out well because they are doing so much construction on the strip, this hotel really isnt in the middle of it.
We would definitly stay here again.

New York, New York, Hotel and Casino, Las Vegas.
Date: September 18, 2007
Reviewer from California, frequent vacationer to Las Vegas

My husband and I have sent many a vacation in Las Vegas in the last twenty years, but this was our first stay at the New York, New York.
And this is the first time I have felt the need to write a review about any hotel.

Frankly, I can not really recommend the New York, New York in Las Vegas. We had booked for three nights, Sept 18, 19, 20, 2007, the 18th being my birthday. We booked a Spa Suite. We arrived a little early on the 18th after a 7 hour drive. We checked in and headed up to the room. From the elevator the walk to our room was endless, down
at least 14 different hallways that zigged and zagged in all directions. One thing I like to do at night is go to the casino alone
should my husband decide he would rather sleep, but this long jog from the elevator made me feel extremely uncomfortable about doing that with this huge unfamilar maze of hallways. We went downstairs and asked for another room. The people were friendly, I will say that
and very accommodating, they really did try. We got our new room, only a 2 doors from the elevator, but upon entering the room we knew they had made a mistake. We had reserved a smoking room, and not seeing any ashtrays, we knew we were giving the wrong room. Once again it was back to the front desk. We were given a third room, though is was not as far to walk as the first, it was still quite a jog. We counted the hall ways, there were 7 which again zigged and zagged in all directions.

We strongly feel who ever designed this hotel and casino did so only from the point of view of seeing it from outside, after all it does look great from the outside, but little was thought about what their guests would endure during their stay. To only have one set of elevators for such a massive hotel, (they have two sets of elevators but they each only go to certain floors) was extremely poor design. If you have any kind of physical disability, I strongly recommend you go to another hotel.

The final decision not to stay came when we were in the casino. Suddenly, there was a fire alarm. No one took action, and though it was a false alarm, the alarm sounded for at least 15 minutes, if not longer, and the disorganization &/or lack of reaction from staff was enough to not feel safe, especially realizing should there really be a fire or emergency, with all the hallways one would encounter in a panic situation, it would be very confusing on how to get out safely.
We ended up moving to the Golden Nugget.

The Spa Suite. I must say we was also disappointed in the Suite, itself. Though larger than a standard room, all there really was, was
the addition of a large clover leaf jacuzzi next to the bed....
nothing other than that was special. Our one bedroom suite at the Golden Nugget was much nicer, huge in fact, had many extras including
2 restrooms, one with a jacuzzi tub, a wet bar, frig, coffee maker (which the NY, NY room did not have), even a small tv in one of the restrooms, with special VIP check-in (no standing a long check-in line), and turn down service, and I felt safe and comfortable there, all for only $19 more than the spa suite at the New York, New York.

SM, California.

We have just returned from a 2 week holiday in USA with the final 5 nights being spent in NY NY. Hotel was very nice. Check in was very quick and no problem. When we arrived at our upgraded Park Avenue room we could hear the roller coaster. We phoned down to the front desk and asked if there was a room available without any noise. This was no problem to them and they redirected us to another tower without even having to go back down to the desk. They reset the key locks automatically. The room they gave us was large with a lovely marble bathroom. We had a view of the strip and also the pool. I was a little disappointed in the size of the pool as we had previously stayed in the Luxor which had a few lovely pools to choose from. In the end up we didn't have time to use the pool so it didn't matter. The layout of the hotel is really nice. There are lots of restaurants or fast food outlets to choose from. I love sitting in the "streets of New York" eating. .

I also liked being close to other hotels We spent some time at the Excalibur which was very nice too. Excalibur had more well known eating places like McDonalds and Pizza Hut. They also have a Krispy Kreme doughnut factory and the fresh doughnuts there are the best I have ever tasted. If you like doughnuts then I guarantee you will be addicted to these ones.

We ate breakfast on our last day in NY NY in a beautiful restaurant beside the river. It was very nice.

My daughter went on the roller coaster mainly because we had free tickets due to being upgraded on the website. She really enjoyed it but also said it threw you about a bit. Please check website before you book to see if there are any deals. We booked a Manhatten nights deal which gives you an free upgrade to park avenue rooms and various discount tickets for other places in the hotel.

Our room had two queen size beds TV table and chair and was an adequate size for 3 adults. There is also a free safe (not very big) which was a bonus.

The only thing I was not very happy with was there was no security guard on the lifts checking to see if you had a room key. Other hotels have security doing this which makes you feel safer. We questioned this with reception and they said there should be security on at night. In our 5 night stay we never once came across any security at the lifts despite retiring to our room at different times each night.

In my experience in this hotel I would have no hesitation in recommending it.

I stayed two nights at NYNY and thought that it was a very solid property. Check-in at 10pm was quick and efficient and the front desk clerk was friendly and in a very good mood. My room in the century tower was the very last room at the end of a long turning hall way. Some may complain about this but I thought it was great. First, the hall way had character and gave you the feeling that you were in an actual hotel built before the days of Ramada or Hyatt. Second. I heard zero and i mean zero noise from the hall the entire time I was there. My view from the 28th floor was very good. I could see all four corners of the Tropicana/LV BlVD intersection. I also had a pretty nice view of planes landing and taking off from teh airport. The room was clean and the bathroom was adequate, probably onthe small side a little. No closet but there is an Armoire/entertainment stand with hanging space. The bed was comfortable and the linens were standard Hotel fare. I did order room service one night and it ws pretty good. What stood out was that it was extremely quick. No more than 15 minutes from the time I ordered. Prices were very reasonable for room service. I've stayed at a number of Vegas properties and to be honest NYNY would probably rank in the lower third of luxury, however i wouild say that it ranks in the upper third in value. If you are looking for a base of operations for a Vegas trip that will not break your budget, I think NYNY is a good choice. The hotel provides a clean comfortable room at a reasonable price and it does do in a decidedly fun environment.

we arrived back in las vegas to stay the last night before flying
back to england the next day.we had toured california and nevada.we stayed at the excalibur for the first three nights.we
found excalibur fine and a good place for familys.i found the new
york hotel fine but not so family friendly.thats not being critical it
just means its more adult themed.anyway check in was efficient
with hardly any wait.we was on the 43rd floor of empire tower.it
had brilliant views especially from the elevator section windows.the wait for the elevator was not to bad considering we
were on the 43rd floor.the rooms were spacious and well equipped and clean although it would have been nice to have a
coffee maker.television did not seem to have very good signal
either.plenty to do and see in this hotel as well like most in vegas.overall a good hotel.the value for money you get from the
large hotels in las vegas is amazing.the new york hotel was the
2nd cheapest hotel of my trip.i stayed at 9 hotels.i recommend
this hotel.
