The NYNY hotel has a nice themed casino, but the room I got was rather sub-par. The pillows were lumpy, the bedding cheap and crappy - the room was no better quality than a Day's Inn or something along those lines. The elevators were scattered throughout the casino, so I had to walk all the way around the casino floor just to get to my elevator. Also, the TV was small and all the way across the room (the room was big, but for no reason). I tried to check out in the morning on the TV, but the service was unavailable, so I had to go downstairs and wait in line. If I went back to Vegas, I would try a different hotel.

Great Theme Hotel for "Disney" type experience, but....

New York New York is a theme hotel. It is probably the most "Disney" type hotel on the strip with its real life like NY city streets and atmoshpere.

The front desk was very pleasant as well as the hotel employees and cleaning staff. The rooms were extremely clean!!

For the money, it was very pleasant and a great value!.

However, if you are looking for a more elegant atmosphere, this is not the place. It is a more 20 something hotel that has lots going on in evening entertainment, but lacks the special level of service that is reserved for more elegant hotels.

Next time, I would choose to stay at Bellagio or Ceasar's Palace a bit up the strip and a bit more sophisticated.

I would not think twice about staying at NY NY if a theme hotel is what I wanted.

Myself and two friends stayed at NY NY over Thanksgiving weekend in 2005. It took forever to check into the room. I was also disappointed with how dark the rooms were and how difficult it was to even find the elevators that took us to our rooms. Would not stay at this hotel again.

Need a quick getaway from the hassle of work, the hotel offered a deal that I couldn't refuse. Upgraded room a couple of drinks and admission to the Spa all for $70 dollars. Not a bad deal! Checked in Tuesday before Thanksgiving, no lines was done in less than 10 minutes. Upgrade my room to a Park Avenue Deluxe which was very nice and clean. Dinner that night was at ESPN Sports Zone which had the basketball games on that I wanted. Ended up at the The Bar at Times Square witch was a blast listen dueling pianos. The next morning went down to the Fitness center and had a nice workout. Fitness Center is a bit small but had good equipment and some free wieghts. Men locker room was great and relaxing. Check out was a breeze. All and all this was a great deal to get away, would highly suggest this hotel for a short getaway.

Stayed at the New York New York from November 19 through November 23, 2006. Selected their Park Avenue special which included an automatic upgrade to a Park Avenue room in the Century Tower. Room was average size, maybe even a little on the small side, compared to other Vegas hotels I've stayed in... but very clean and comfortable. There was some noise from the rollercoaster, but not enough to bother me as it only operates until 10 p.m. and most people aren't in their rooms until late night.

The casino/entertainment/restaurants are all great. The place has a great vibe - very active and loud, but very fun. The Big Apple Bar is a great place to chill out with your cocktail of choice and listen to the cover bands playing on a raised stage behind the bar. Nine Fine Irishmen is fun and the food is good. America (their 24 hour cafe) also has good food and adequate service levels.

Get an MGM players card - use can use it a bunch of different casinos (NYNY, MGM Grand, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, MIrage, TI, among others).

For those not familiar with Vegas, the hotel is in a good location - directly across MGM Grand (which is beautiful inside - and huge). Across the other street is the Excalibur where you can catch a free tram down to Luxor or Mandalay Bay. Next door is the Monte Carlo which is a much quieter casino if you prefer that kind of enviornment.

If you like roller coasters, you should check out the one at NYNY. It's better than it looks.

All in all, an enjoyable 4 days.
