We travelled to Las Vegas from Australia during November and our travel agent booked us in at New York New York. We had no idea what to expect. The place is big, glitzy, loud and busy. It was fun, full of life and we really enjoyed ourselves. Our room was small with a view of the roller coaster but it was fine. The bed was very comfortable. While we never actually had a meal at the hotel, I can highly recommend the pizza shop opposite the duelling piano bar for the 3am munchies!! The piano bar was always filled with people having a great time. The slots were fun and as good as any other casino we went too. While I was there I had my hair done at their salon for the Celine Dion concert. The staff were lovely and I was very pleased with the results. The great thing about this hotel is the location as well. It's just across the road from the MGM so if you want to take the monorail it's very easy. I found most of the places we liked were within walking distance of the NY NY so it was very handy. There's also a great pharmacy and convenience store a little way up the road and it's nice and close to the half price ticket coke bottle. The Duce bus is also just across the road, although we found it took forever to get up the strip on it. The monorail, while more expensive, was much better. I would like to try staying somewhere else next time just for a different experience but if you are looking for a nice hotel in a great location then you won't go wrong.

  • Liked — The really comfortable bed
  • Disliked — No mini bar
  • Tips/Secrets: — Las Vegas goes 24 hours a day so if you stay up late and wake up late if doesn't matter!!

ok, here goes....

1. they gave us a room, far far from the elevator, at the farthest end, corner room next to exit stairs... i thought its ok, since we will be busy and just back to room to sleep...and i thought it will be quiet for less or no foot traffic..wow, i was wrong... around 3-4am, we were awaken from noise, its weird, we heard construction noise from the ceiling (above us), someone was hammering at regular interval ... wtf..who's dumb enough to give permission to work at those hours? can't they wait??? ppl were sleeping!!! plus, we can also heard the scream from the ppl in roller coaster, its a distance sound, but we could heard it..and its annoying...not just the scream, but the sound of the rail as well, the sound of the coaster riding up the rail...its sucks!

2. we complained in the morning, and we asked for a new room,
we talked to one of the maid, and the maid suggested to sleep at lower levels..and we got lower level rooms...
the room is a bit smaller, but I dont care as long as I can get a good nite sleep... and this time, its all ok, no sound, no hammering, no screaming, no rail sound, but in the morning when we were ready to check out with the TV...
I followed the chk out instruction "...press MENU at your TV remote...", I grab the TV remote, and scream..."WTF, where's the damn MENU button???" yeah, they FORGOT to change the remote, our TV remote is still the original remote instead of the modified one...

I am Las Vegas regulars, I stayed at most of the resorts there (Luxor, Venetian, Paris, MGM, Monte Carlo, Lady Luck, CircusCircus)... even CircusCircus has the right remote!

  • Liked — great food court
  • Disliked — room comfort, front desk service
  • Tips/Secrets: — if you stay at NYNY, ask for lower level rooms

We have honestly never been happier with our stay in Vegas. We have stayed at Excalibur, Luxor, MGM, and Bally's and by far this was our favorite place to stay. We will certainly return to this hotel. We had a Park Ave room on the 15th floor and it was very nice, clean, and comfortable. We never had a problem hearing any neighbors or the roller coaster outside. I did hear it a few times in the day while we were briefly in our room but that is about it. Our room was made up in a timely fashion each day and the staff was very personable. We simply loved the environment, location, and there is so much to do! We loved the band ChickRock at the Big Apple Bar, had the finest dinner at IL Forniao, and a fun time at Nine Fine Irshimen. We will be returning to see Zumanity soon. The kids/adult area/game room or arcade was one of the nicest we have seen in Vegas. We always visit Bellagio and Ceaser's Palace for shopping and dining and it is quite a trek although the positive is that it is on the same side of the street. M&Ms world and Coca- Cola world is right across the street. we alos like the fact that we can gamble at NYNY, cross the bridge and be at MGM Grand or cross the bridge the other way and be at Excalibur.

Booked a four night stay at New York New York, Arrived at hotel a little early, well 2.30pm, was told by check in room was not ready but....if we waited a bit longer we could have smoking rooms, slightly annoying as we had just had an 11 hour flight!.. our party said no to smoking rooms as we had booked non smoking, we had to wait another hour but was upgraded to park avenue rooms.
Room was very nice, clean, view of the roller coaster, didn't hear any noice from roller coaster.
Staff were friendly.
Good location, went to MGM grand most mornings for breakfast as its just across the road.
Piano bar was great in our hotel.
Would definateley stay in New York, New York again.

We arrived Wed., Nov 22nd and check-in was a breeze. The hotel room was wonderful, with extra room for chairs and desk. Our view was of the roller coaster and the strip. No problem with the roller coaster noise. When you return to the room your so worn out from all the walking, cocktails and enjoying Vegas when your head hits the pillow it's zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz time. Enjoyed the band at the "Big Apple Bar" and what a great time in the Piano Bar. Ate at Gallagher's, was very good. Also had the morning buffet at Chin-Chin's two mornings. The food was good and fruit nice and fresh. All the employees from housekeeping to the dealers were all VERY NICE!! Not alot of big crowds during this time. But alot of families with small kids, which was not a problem for us but still can't see taking kids to Vegas. No problem getting show tickets. Purchased tickets for "Blue Man Group" (great & wild show) Thanksgiving morning for that night and sat in row "H" on the floor. Show looked sold out when we arrived. Would more than likely stay at New York New York again on our return visit. Thanksgiving was a great time to go.......hopefully next year we'll be able to do it again.
