This was our first time staying at the MGM Grand. Like most of what the previous reviews have mentioned this hotel is huge and there is tons of people everywhere you turn. However, the lay-out of the hotel is not too bad. They have signs everywhere to point you and get you going in the right direction.

MGM POOL: We did not get a chance to try out the pool. However, it looks very inviting and I look forward to trying it out sometime. If you are interested in going to the pool make sure you book a room in the grand tower as this is the only tower with the shortest walk ( 5 min ) to the pool.

MGM GRAND TOWER KING BED: This room is very awesome. The decor is excellent in all areas and the bed is very comfortable. We booked the room for $89 per night which is an awesome deal. I have heard of others booking the same room for $69 per night. Check the MGM Grand website periodically even after you book your reservation as their rates literally change daily.

MGM GRAND CUSTOMER SERVICE: Of all the hotels that I have stayed at MGM absouletly has the best customer service. All personell and dressed professionally and act professional. Don't get me wrong you will run into a rude person here and there but I would say 99.99% of the time you will love the customer service.

LADIES: MGM Grand of all the hotels that I have stayed at have the most beautiful and hottest women in one place that you will ever see. Don't get me wrong there is beautiful women all over the Vegas Strip, however, MGM Grand has an on-going mix of beautiful women at any given time.

MONORAIL STATION: MGM offers easy access to the Las Vegas Monorail and it will take you all the way to the other end of the strip ( Sahara Hotel ) for a nominal charge. We took advantage of the $9 24 hour pass which is normally $15 and each ride is $5. I wouldn't recommend paying the $5 for the one way ride because it simply is not worth it. However, if you score a deal like we did ( 24 hr Pass, $9 ) its worth it. Nonetheless, depending on your plans while in Vegas the monorail is cheaper than a cab as the Vegas strip is 6 miles long. Monorail currently runs from 7am to 2am and till 3am on the weekends.

DEUCE BUS: This is another transportation option. Its $2 for one ride and I believe $5 for a day pass. The only downfall is its almost always full until well after midnight but there is plenty of buses running and again its cheaper than a cab.

MGM BUFFET: A little pricey but well worth it to try at least one time. I believe its $12.99 for breakfast ( We did Breakfast ) $13.99 for lunch and a whopping $25.99 for dinner. Food was very fresh and again the staff was very friendly and accomodating. Only downfall, you have to wait for waitress to serve your drinks. You would think for the price you pay you could get your own drinks.

Overall, not sure if I would stay at MGM again. For the price of $89 per night I would definetly have to consider it and for $69 per night why not. Hotel is very huge but not a problem for me. If the monorail had a killer deal like this trip than MGM would be good choice as we got up and down strip in no time and were able to catch all attractions that we wanted plus the staff and accomodations are bar none compared to other hotels we have stayed at, ie, Monte Carlo, Circus Circus and Stratosphere.

I would say give MGM a try. Its an excellent choice but again just like other reviews say it is huge and if your not into walking all over to get to your next spot in the hotel or if you have kids with you on the trip I would probably stay at Monte Carlo instead but my wife and I enjoyed our stay.

Stayed three nights. Beautiful hotel! Check-in was fast and efficient. Allan at the Studio Cafe was extremely hospitable when we had breakfast there. Food was excellent, big portions. We stayed in the new West Wing, 4th Floor. There is a separate elevator that only goes to this one floor - which was good, hardly any waiting, although it was out of service one day of our stay so then we used the main elevators. Room furnishings and electronics in our room were ultra modern. The Deluxe Room with king bed was a bit small (studio). No fan in shower/toilet area - we thought this was odd. Lighting in vanity area was not conducive to applying make-up. Cleaners missed cleaning the area behind bathroom sink. In-room safe was very nice - we used it a lot. Room service took less time to deliver than they estimated when we ordered. Food was delicious, again, large portions. Noise from mostly other guests, but also from cleaning staff, in the hallway and adjacent rooms was a bit of a problem. Air conditioning worked well. Bed was VERY comfortable. To conserve water, towels/linens/glassware are only refreshed every third day of your stay unless you call housekeeping. We did find we needed to hunt down some extra towels sooner than that. You can charge almost anything from any shops or restaurants on the property to your room - convenient. You can view all charges to your room on your tv. You can also do express checkout through the tv. This is a good option as we tried to check out in person and it was a total mob scene (Sunday). However, the hotel had extra people on staff especially at that time and they worked us through very quickly. The main lobby staff were very helpful in offering to hold our bags between check-out (11:00 a.m.) and the time we needed to head to the airport on the last day of our stay. Also, if you use this service, when you retrieve your bags MGM Guests get priority placement at the front of the (long) line-up for a taxi to the airport - there is no charge for this bag service, but we did tip our bellman. We ate at the MGM Grand Buffet one evening. Just excellent! Included expensive seafood items like Alaskan King Crab Legs. So much better than the (lunch) buffet at the Imperial Palace. No line up at 5 p.m., packed by 6 p.m - go early. Pool area is fantastic. Separate pool for adults only was really nice. Cocktail service by the pool was a little slow, but you could also walk up to the bar yourself. Good music. Did see one of the (teen-aged) lifeguards spit onto the walkway by the 3 1/2 foot deep wading pool area, but this was very much not in keeping with behaviour we observed from any of the other workers during our stay. The Casino was VERY SMOKEY, not so bad around the roulette/craps/blackjack tables, but around the slot machines it was horrible. Made my eyes sting almost immediately, and your hair stinks after only 15-20 minutes. Hardly any line-ups at the Cashier to cash out our winnings. 3 Starbucks locations inside the Hotel - awesome, although they don't accept the pre-loaded Starbucks Cards for payment. We attended a wedding at the hotel during our stay. The staff were a little confused as to locations and details for our party, but conference room set up, wedding decorations, and food were excellent. We would definitely stay here again, but maybe in October when it's not so hot. We used the Monorail a lot to get around as it was air-conditioned and it was over 100 degrees outside in the daytime and really not much cooler at night. We wanted to catch the bus to Freemont Street (downtown) after exiting the Sahara Station of the Monorail as suggested by the Monorail brochure, however, at street level at the Sahara Station we couldn't find any signage for where we would catch that bus. We noticed there didn't seem to be very many other tourists on the street in this area and we didn't feel completely safe, so we got back on the train and went back. We were told we would probably only pay around $15.00 to take a cab to Freemont Street instead. Other travellers told us it is worth seeing. We saw the water 'show' out front of the Bellagio, it was cool. Next time we plan to see LeReve at the Wynn.

I have stayed at many wonderful hotels and was quite happy with the MGM. Stayed with 3 kids- 2 -13 year olds and 1-10.Booked thru their website with a summer splash special. Upgraded to a suite for extra $20 a night at checkin. Stayed in 11-104. Room was not ready until 4pm but was very clean. Did have large dent in wall near window but didn't bother me for $139 a night. View of city was weak but didn't want to wait another hour for strip view. Boy, it was 112 degrees which means I couldn't stand not being in pool. Loved the lazy river altho lifeguards permitted some smoking even when I complained and second day the shut it down for 2 hours- not sure why.
Ate at Grand Wok 2 nights - the food was good altho service weak as we sat at sushi bar and waitress didn't bring fork, water and for no reason de-spiced my pad thai which was horrible. Didn't leave tip.
Starbucks in hotel does not take gift cards. Annoying.
Would stay there again as long as under 100 degrees.

We stayed in the MGM Grand for 4 nights on the first part of our 3 week honeymoon to the states. The MGM was excellent - absolutley huge, beautiful rooms, great casino, amazing choice of restaurants, fabulous pools, plenty to see and do! Great location on the strip, the MGM has its own monorail station inside the hotel which was great for getting around the strip. Because we were on honeymoon the lovely staff upgraded us to a celebrity spa suite for our first night - the suite was out of this world! The biggest room I've ever been in and the bathroom was to die for! Even when we got our standard room in the Grand Tower the next night it was still really nice, the biggest most comfortable beds ever! We found no faults at all with the MGM and we highly recommend it

We stayed at the MGM for 2 nights, July2- July 4. This is hard to explain because everything was fine but I don't think I would ever stay here again. Here are the good points. We checked in very easily at 1 and our room was ready. Very nice clerk. Our rate was $69 which was great. Our room was close to the elevators(I requested that) on the 15th floor with a view of the mountains. Lovely big room--super beds and very nice bathroom. We ate at the buffet for breakfast and it was good. Now for the bad. They aren't really bad, just things we did not like. I did not like walking through a mall to get to the pool. We went on Monday at 5 and they had closed all the pools but 1 and it was packed with kids splashing and jumping. The next day we went to the pool at 10 and all the pools were open and we went around the lazy river a few times and then to the adult pool. That was wonderful. There were only 2 people in the pool. The pool area would be great if you didn't have such a walk. My husband plays blackjack and he didn't think the dealers were that friendly and I play the slots and they were not generous and many of the machines I wanted to play were occupied. I thought the whole place was TOO crowded and there were way too many families(I can see why they would like it because there is a lot to do for the kids) and many young singles. We are a couple in our 50's and I just didn't feel that comfortable there. It's hard for me to pinpoint why we didn't like it there, but it just didn't fit us. I'm glad we had a great rate but I prefer to stay mid strip so I think we will stick with Bally's and Paris. Those are my favorites so far. I even prefered Orleans to MGM.

  • Disliked — distance to the pool and distance to the middle of the strip
