This trip was to take my mom to see Tom Jones. Mom is 6th stage alzheimers and she used to love Tom. Wife also went.
Booked through same host I used in 2004. His assistant, Kim Soares, gave me excellent service. Because it was a special trip for mom, she comped the room and offered a free upgrade upon arrival. She also comped the Tom Jones tickets, and the wheelchair.
When we arrived at the front desk, check in person offered us the Marquee Suite for $150 a night! SCORE! This suite goes for $659 and has over 1500sf with 2 bedrooms. This Suite sits at the end of hallways with a 180 degree view. We had south facing views, from the airport all the way to the Monte Carlo. Here are pics:

We ate at Wolfgang Pucks, Emerils, and the Grand Wok. Service was fantastic at all 3. Emeril's and Pucks have 2 bus persons, along with waiters. Woman at Grand Wok was so good, she needed no help! Food was delicious!!!!!!
Here's my food reviews:

Tom Jones still has it people! His voice was strong, and the ladies still throw underware on the stage!!!! Great show!
We also saw Spamalot, and yes, it's hilarious!
MGM had replaced the casino carpet a couple of months earlier. Looked fresh and clean. Room beds are new, with new comforters, and pillows. Firm pillows on the bed, softer ones in closet.
MGM is schedule for room makeovers in early 2008. West Wing, Sky Lofts, and The Signature Towers have been completed as of now.
Cocktail service for me was excellent. I tip $5 for 2 Tall Long Islands, and whatever my wife wants. I never went dry this whole trip.
Monorail starts here and for me is convenient. Summer special has 24 hour passes at $8. Used this for my June trip and after 4 trips, it came to $2 a ride! SCORE!
MGM is one of the largest hotels in the world. Know this if you want a smaller hotel. Hallways are very long. But all of Vegas is huge, so what's different about inside the MGM? It's ALL air condtioned!!!
Overall GREAT experience!

I stayed at the MGM two times and both times were amazing. But the last time I stayed here it was my 21st b-day so it had to be special. Check in was not a problem and it there was a convention on that day. The staff was fast and friendly which I really like. The rooom was clean and everythin in order. The MGM has everything you need so so you dont have to leave it to have a good time. It has everything from shows, concerts, great retaurants, gaming, lounges, bars, and nightclubs. The concierge was awsome meeting our every needs, getting us VIP to Jet (best nightclub in Vegas). When you stay here make sure to stay in a room with a strip view. They have one of the best! If you stay here you are going to leave feeling you really experienced the " Vegas Experience" I would recommend this hotel for families, and young people!

We stayed at the MGM for the first time and LOVED it!!! The pool area is just like most reviews say, simply awesome. We also found the service to be above average for most Strip properties. Everyone we came into contact with was very helpful, friendly, asked us questions regarding our stay, and seemed genuinely interested in making our stay pleasurable, if not memorable. The only complaint we had was Studio 54, what a ridiculous excuse for a nightclub. First off, it was 119 degrees during the day and dipped down to 101 at midnight. Naturally, we were wearing comfrotable clothes, they call them shorts where I come from. Unfortunately, the dweebs in power running the entrance wouldn't allow men in shorts or flip-flops of any kind. However, if you were a woman, you could get away with any sort of outfit, as long as you showed skin, you were in. Don't get me wrong, I'm definitely ok with this, but one girl wore flip-flops just like mine and the front door person told me that since she's a woman, she can wear flip-flops, but men can't. Isn't that discrimination? Anyway, enough about Studio 54, if you want a great room (Grand View Tower) with an amazing bed, very nice bathroom, and totally updated decor, MGM is the place. One last pool rave....it was REALLY relaxing. They even have an adult pool of you want to get away fron the kids.

I had an average stay at this hotel. The rooms were clean and average. Check in was efficient but I found the employees a bit cold and not very professional.

All the talk about the hotel being huge and employing navigation skills were somewhat exaggerated in my opinion. The signage and location of everything was within reason. We might have been lucky but our tower room was very close to the elevators and we were located on the 20th floor with a view of Planet Hollywood.

The ventialtion of the hotel was great.

I would stay here again at the great rate fo $69.99 per night. Would not be happy paying over $100/night.

My husband and I made our 4th trip to Las Vegas in June 2007. This time, we picked one of the biggest in the world - the MGM Grand for our stay.

We stayed in the West Wing and were very happy with our accomodations. Some may have been put off by the lack of "extra" room, but really, in Vegas, your room is typically used primarily for sleeping...not for hanging out. (Plus, if you need to hang out, the West Wing has its own lounge.) It was a hassle to get to and check out of our room at the beginning and end of our trip, but the West Wing is a great location in relation to the casino and the strip.

Coolest thing about our room - a TV in the mirror of the bathroom. I loved getting ready in the morning and not missing a minute of the Las Vegas Visitor Channel (so informational!).

The thing that put a dampener on our trip was the day we returned to our room after breakfast and a short shopping trip to find the door to our room open...with no one around. It was clear that a member of the housekeeping staff had attended to the room and just didn't close the door behind him/her.

We called the front desk and were directed to security. The security officer I spoke with asked, "Well, was anything taken?" to which I replied, "I don't know, I called you as soon as I came to my room and found it open." He told me to take a look around to see if anything was missing and then call back. My husband and I went through our things and, thankfully, nothing was missing. I called security back and gave the information to the same gentleman, to which he replied, "Oh, so it's okay then." I asked him if anything would be done about the incident and he told me that he would have someone from the front desk call me. No one ever did.

I suppose I could have thrown a complete fit about the incident, but didn't want to spoil my vacation. I will tell you that that single incident was enough to discourage me from staying there in the future.

Vegas itself was fantastic - the weather was great. The people were friendly.

  • Disliked — Housekeeping didn't close the door after cleaning our room!!
