We booked into the MGM for the final three days of our stay in the southwest USA. We didn't get off to an auspicious start when (after booking a non-smoking jacuzzi suite months ahead on the hotel website) we were allocated a filthy, smelly smoking room.
I completed the substantial trek back down to reception, and was told that nothing else was available, and that the Hotel didn't guarantee my non-smoking preference. I replied that since the room was unacceptable, and the Hotel obviously too full to allocate us a non-smoking room, we would find alternative accommodation.... and that I'd like my 1 night deposit refunded.
This was obviously the magic enchantment required, and 30 seconds later I had a key to a room on a non-smoking floor.
The room was still a bit tired, with strange stains in the bathroom and a patched carpet next to the bathroom door, but otherwise acceptable. The bed was huge, clean and comfortable, and all of the amenities worked.
If staying here beware of the car park, it's quite busy and dark, and we were nearly sideswiped several times by cars reversing out of spaces.
The MGM is OK I guess, but frankly I'd spend the money elsewhere.
