While things are fresh in mind having returned just a few days ago I'll mention the points that come first to mind.
I don't know if the hotel is wheelchair friendly but if you don't like walking or can't walk then don't come to this hotel, or any other hotel on the strip I think. They are BIG by any standards and the MGM is the biggest but e.g. if you're at the pool and you've left something in the room it's a pain. The service and facilties are as good as you'll get outside of the luxury hotels. Our room was large, modern and clean. Our view was the roof of a lower floor but who spends time in their room? There are numerous restaurants, eating places, bars etc..
There's a vast pool complex. A major problem for us was that many of the sun umbrellas were broken so finding shade was a problem if we wern't down there early. Again, for those on a budget, DON'T buy drinks at the bars ($8-9 a short). Play the 5c machines and get them for the cost of a tip ($2).
Being on a budget (or just tight) we had breakfast some days in Cocos across the road next to Hooters - It's a traditional American diner - or somewhere along the strip. The all-day buffet for $30 including soft drinks is good value with a wide choice although the food is a bit uninspiring. The Rain Forest Cafe is a novelty for kids and not too expensive. Waiters are friendly.
It's position at one end of the strip means that it's a walk to get to most of the other hotels on foot in 100 degrees. You can take the monorail ($13 for a day-pass) but you'res till gonna have to walk from the station at the other end. Don't underestimate the distances. It took me 50 minutes to walk back from Caesars Palace without stopping (other than to cross roads etc). Other hotels like the Venetian, Mirage and TI are even further away. And forget walking to the Stratosphere.
Overall though I loved it. Ive stayed at the Imperial Palace and Flamingo and I'd choose the MGM again.
