While things are fresh in mind having returned just a few days ago I'll mention the points that come first to mind.
I don't know if the hotel is wheelchair friendly but if you don't like walking or can't walk then don't come to this hotel, or any other hotel on the strip I think. They are BIG by any standards and the MGM is the biggest but e.g. if you're at the pool and you've left something in the room it's a pain. The service and facilties are as good as you'll get outside of the luxury hotels. Our room was large, modern and clean. Our view was the roof of a lower floor but who spends time in their room? There are numerous restaurants, eating places, bars etc..
There's a vast pool complex. A major problem for us was that many of the sun umbrellas were broken so finding shade was a problem if we wern't down there early. Again, for those on a budget, DON'T buy drinks at the bars ($8-9 a short). Play the 5c machines and get them for the cost of a tip ($2).
Being on a budget (or just tight) we had breakfast some days in Cocos across the road next to Hooters - It's a traditional American diner - or somewhere along the strip. The all-day buffet for $30 including soft drinks is good value with a wide choice although the food is a bit uninspiring. The Rain Forest Cafe is a novelty for kids and not too expensive. Waiters are friendly.
It's position at one end of the strip means that it's a walk to get to most of the other hotels on foot in 100 degrees. You can take the monorail ($13 for a day-pass) but you'res till gonna have to walk from the station at the other end. Don't underestimate the distances. It took me 50 minutes to walk back from Caesars Palace without stopping (other than to cross roads etc). Other hotels like the Venetian, Mirage and TI are even further away. And forget walking to the Stratosphere.
Overall though I loved it. Ive stayed at the Imperial Palace and Flamingo and I'd choose the MGM again.

Spent 10 days there on business, I had to change rooms three times due to poor ac. Told by maintenance that they only change filters when one complains of ac problems. Furniture old and beat up. Front desk manager extremely rude told me to shut up and she was going to call security. After I had told her not to raise her voice to me. I had spoken to another front desk person who was going to help me with my extended stay she spoke to her manager and they had worked out a deal for me.When I returned the women was not there so i spoke to this rude manager Julia who told me that this was not true and indirectly called me a liar. I spotted the women that gave me the offer and she had gotten permission from Julia manger to do this special. When the rude person found out that I was not lying she could not even apologize.

We stayed at the MGM Grand for 3 nights, we were offered the upgrade and for an extra $30 a night " it was awesome" It would be one of the best hotel rooms we have ever stayed in. The room was large and the bathroom was out of this world

We stayed at MGM for 2 nights before heading to Grand Canyon. There's only one word to describe this hotel: HUGE!!!!

Okay, now here are the pros and con:

Pro: We stayed at the West Wing and what can I say, it might be too cool for us. It's a bit difficult to find the entrance, but once you walk through those dark red doors you should be okay. The room itself has a very interesting layout, with windows behind the head board. The bed is very VERY comfortable. There's no tub but the walk-in shower is quite large.

Pro: There are so many great restuarants in here it's hard to try them all in one trip. There are also 2 Starbucks inside the hotel, great for breakfasts. The deli also sells Krispy Kreme donuts, yum.

Pro: We saw a great deal on Travelzoo and booked it directly on MGM's website. For less than $100 per night, we received $25 free slot play and $50 fine dining gift certificate. What an excellent value!

Con: We checked in at the airport and was faced with a straight-faced receptionist. Unlike the others working there, she seemed to dislike people. There was no "hi", "thank you, bye" or smile during our 5-minute check-in conversation.

Overall it was a nice experience. Would definitely recommend this hotel to those who want to stay on the Strip while saving money.

My husband and I booked the trip to see Eric Clapton and celebrate our birthdays at same time.
We were pleased with the room with a view of the Monte Carlo and New York, New York.
I am still in the hotel as I write. Booked for Jun 25-Jul 2nd.
The Concert was grand- the amount of people about 20,000. The seats are small and plastic-bleacher style, so be prepared for that if you see a concert here.

The week end is basically a (Wet RepublicPool Bar experience) College students from all over- drive , fly, flock to go to the Wet Wet republic Bar Pool and spill over into the Lazy River
Pool. You can pay to get in if you are not staying at the hotel.
It was crazy! My husband liked people watching- he had never seen so many tattoos and
girls flashing their boobs. Beer cans and plastic cups lined the sides-Huge Frozen drinks in tall plastic enclosed containers with straws seemed to be in every college girls hand.
Electronica drum loop music fills the air. ( not complaining- just observation)
We are pretty good sports and just had some good laughs watching- we got drenched in the waterfall and had a frozen drink. My husband said he felt like he was at the playboy mansion in the grotto.

Monday at the pool was a different story -All the college kids are gone and you see mostly Baby boomers or families at the pool. The staff says it stays that way during the week
but when the weekend hits- It starts all over again- so just a heads up to parents out there
The water-stays kind of cloudy in the lazy river-but it was pleasent just to have room to go round and have a choice of lounge chairs. (note: not allowed to use your own floats)

After emerging from the pool wet and hungry, during our stay- we tried an assortment of resturuants with mixed results.
Diegos-( bad experience) we got dressed up and came down looking forward to a fabulous sampler platter and entrees- What I got at the table was a metal vase container- of chips
4 small deep fried things and a 1/2 cup of generic dip. bean with avacado and sour cream.
very bland -no taste small. (also we already had chips on the table)
The entree was also awful- Pork soft tacos with rice and beans) The pork had a real salty, gamey taste. (we couldnt eat it) The rice was very dry and bland, the beans also dry and bland- only shreds of lettuce and a few strings of cheese on side.
Husband felt ill after dinner there.
Grand Buffet: You have to wait for your drinks- they forgot us. The food was not really diverse. It was o.k. but not great.
Food court: Pizza place decent for a snack.
needed improvements- it would be the resturaunts. Dont be fooled by the fancy Decor and high prices- the food is not up to standard.
We ended up at New York, New York- for the most part the resturuants are better over there.

On the upside- you are in the middle of all the action and entertainment. The monorail can get you to your destination fast. You can see all the shows you wish. Suggest a laptop to
get tickets in advance.

MGM does have wireless but it is 14.99 a day- so be aware of that.

If you want excitement and dont mind being in a crowd- MGM is the place for you.
