My husband and I booked the trip to see Eric Clapton and celebrate our birthdays at same time.
We were pleased with the room with a view of the Monte Carlo and New York, New York.
I am still in the hotel as I write. Booked for Jun 25-Jul 2nd.
The Concert was grand- the amount of people about 20,000. The seats are small and plastic-bleacher style, so be prepared for that if you see a concert here.

The week end is basically a (Wet RepublicPool Bar experience) College students from all over- drive , fly, flock to go to the Wet Wet republic Bar Pool and spill over into the Lazy River
Pool. You can pay to get in if you are not staying at the hotel.
It was crazy! My husband liked people watching- he had never seen so many tattoos and
girls flashing their boobs. Beer cans and plastic cups lined the sides-Huge Frozen drinks in tall plastic enclosed containers with straws seemed to be in every college girls hand.
Electronica drum loop music fills the air. ( not complaining- just observation)
We are pretty good sports and just had some good laughs watching- we got drenched in the waterfall and had a frozen drink. My husband said he felt like he was at the playboy mansion in the grotto.

Monday at the pool was a different story -All the college kids are gone and you see mostly Baby boomers or families at the pool. The staff says it stays that way during the week
but when the weekend hits- It starts all over again- so just a heads up to parents out there
The water-stays kind of cloudy in the lazy river-but it was pleasent just to have room to go round and have a choice of lounge chairs. (note: not allowed to use your own floats)

After emerging from the pool wet and hungry, during our stay- we tried an assortment of resturuants with mixed results.
Diegos-( bad experience) we got dressed up and came down looking forward to a fabulous sampler platter and entrees- What I got at the table was a metal vase container- of chips
4 small deep fried things and a 1/2 cup of generic dip. bean with avacado and sour cream.
very bland -no taste small. (also we already had chips on the table)
The entree was also awful- Pork soft tacos with rice and beans) The pork had a real salty, gamey taste. (we couldnt eat it) The rice was very dry and bland, the beans also dry and bland- only shreds of lettuce and a few strings of cheese on side.
Husband felt ill after dinner there.
Grand Buffet: You have to wait for your drinks- they forgot us. The food was not really diverse. It was o.k. but not great.
Food court: Pizza place decent for a snack.
needed improvements- it would be the resturaunts. Dont be fooled by the fancy Decor and high prices- the food is not up to standard.
We ended up at New York, New York- for the most part the resturuants are better over there.

On the upside- you are in the middle of all the action and entertainment. The monorail can get you to your destination fast. You can see all the shows you wish. Suggest a laptop to
get tickets in advance.

MGM does have wireless but it is 14.99 a day- so be aware of that.

If you want excitement and dont mind being in a crowd- MGM is the place for you.

This was my 5th stay at the MGM GRAND in 2 years and again I could not fault it. The rooms are large and airy. The maid service was excellent. (TIP.. Leave a dollar on the bed every day as the maids tip, they often change halfway threw your stay so need to be tipped daily not at the end of your stay) The buffet food and service was great with lots of variety. The best omelettes I have ever has in the states. The restaurants have a range of cuisine's with something to suit everyones pallet and pocket. The pool area is huge in contrast to some other hotels on the strip but the best feature is the lazy river. You can hire rings etc to use in it too. The poolside food and drinks were easy to order and charging them to your room means you only need to take your sun cream and a book to the pool as towels are also provided. The hotel's not cluttered with tacky theme things either, some tasteful pictures in your room is about it. DONT MISS the chance to see a show or take advantage to preview a TV show with free tickets being given away by the pool stairs. The reception staff were so helpful and on the last night we asked for late checkout and were given 2 extra hours free. I cant find any faults with this fantastic hotel and recommend it highly. Looking forward to my next visit.
General comment on the strip.... the new City Centre has ruined the view and over shadows many of the more clasically designed hotels on the strip.

I cant imagine anywhere better to stay in Las Vegas!
It was beautiful.
We checked in at the airport, so on arrival ( very close to airport by the way!!) we could go straight to our room.
Seperate lifts to sections of the multiple storeys. Never had to wait for lifts (big bug bear of mine!!)
The room was big, two massive beds, and loads of room for an extra that we ordered.
Blackout curtains, quiet,
We viewed out the back - kind of towards the airport and Hooters. Good view into the distance and amazing sunrise when the jetlag got the better of me.
Beutiful pillows and duvets. I would have been happy to stay in the room....
Until I ventured out. Wow! Im not a gambler...so you may wonder what I was doing in Vegas!!!
At the MGM there are multiple bars, clubs, restuarants, a sporting arena as well as enough gambling bits to amuse for days! Food wise there is rainforst cafe among others such serving asian foods, doughnuts and milkshakes and mcdoanlds!
And the lions of course. The MGM lions. Now Ive seen wild lions, but these still amazed me. Beautiful and clearly well looked after.

MGM is at the end of the strip...but the better end so no worries there! And thats if you even bother to leave the hotel
STAY HERE!!!!

Oh yep there is a swimming pool but I never made it that far!!

I usually avoid mega-hotels in favor of smaller ones, but the MGM Grand changed my opinion. The room was large, spacious, and clean as a whistle - as was every inch of the hotel. The staff were friendly and helpful. I enjoyed my stay there immensely! The only things that would have made it better would have been free wifi and a coffeemaker.

Pros: Nice Rooms, Great Beds, Very Helpful Staff, Good Location, excellent price, quick trip to/from the airport.
Cons: Charge for EVERYTHING (like every other hotel in LV) and morning coffee could be 15-20 minutes away (none in room).

Our biggest problem with the hotel, however, was that -- after 1:00pm or so -- it turns into a big, green version of Spring Break at Daytona and it continues until 5 in the morning. The beautiful pool complex just turns into one huge druken orgy and the yelling and screaming down the hallways at all hours of the night (and morning) is awful. The whole place feels like Myrtle Beach. It seems as though the drinking age throughout the property is 17.

Don't get me wrong....it is a great hotel. But if you like your environment a little less rowdy and little more controlled, you should be looking at the Venitian, Mandelay Bay, or Bellagio (more expensive, but probably a little more sedate).
