My husband and I stayed at the Mandalay Bay based on the Travel channels best pool rating. However, we were disappointed when we arrived as the lazy river had to close several times during our stay, because a kid was taking a "crap" in the pool. The hotel itself is nice offering nice rooms. It is at the end of the strip though and commuting even 2 blocks in Las Vegas is a chore. It might be worth it to stay closer in if you plan on getting out and about in Vegas. We did have dinner at the Red Square ( in the Mandalay Bay)which was excellent. I will definately return to the restaraunt. Have fun!

Stayed at the Mandalay Bay in July of this year. The rooms were great, and the bathrooms were as good as advertised. I asked to have two rooms facing the strip, but was disappointed to have two rooms that literally faced the airport with no view of the strip. This was our frist trip to Vegas with the kids, and the Strip view would have been a very nice touch...oh well.. Although the adults thought the pool area was a little too crowded, the kids thought it was the best part of the hotel.
The casino is much more "resort" like than at the other casinos. and the high ceilings provided a much more relaxed feel. I would love to stay there again, maybe next time just the adults. The casino, clubs and rooms were very romantic. I did find their prices to be a little high, but over all It is a great place.

My girlfriend and I stayed the week of Sep 2nd-5th. In other words we were there during the week, and right after labor day weekend. I think this would be the only time I would stay at any place in Vegas. We were able to get a suite for 150 per night, and it was worth it. There were no lines at all and we got our room well before check in time (about 1 pm)We got exactly what we asked for, and were nicely surprised by the lack of cigarette smell in the casino, also the vanilla scent throughout the hotel was very pleasing. You definetly feel as if you are in a resort. Very upscale. Short walk to our room, although I would def. ask for a room number close to the elevators, we had a short walk, but I could definetly see how long the hallways were, seemed like half a mile. The room was clean, not as big as I would have thought for a suite. The big claim to fame here is the bathroom, huge tub for myself and my tall girlfriend, stand alone shower with glass door (enhances the romantic feel) lots of nice goodies (soap, sea salts, lotion) and I liked that the toilet was in a seperate part with its own door, so other people could occupy . The jacuzzi tub was very soothing, and the bed comfy enough, nice pillows. Big TV, very comfy sofa and chairs. We didn't get a view of the strip, but it was still nice and high. The food was decent, buffet awesome. Give it a try! The slots weren't very generous, but then again its Vegas, and what big casino is gonna be.
The drinks were pricey, about 7 bucks for a slushy margarita, but they were tasty. You must try a martini at the Red Square, very good!! Also, the foundation room Bar at the very top of the hotel has a great view.
We got passes, I think because we had a suite. All in All the hotel was beautiful and we felt like we were being pampered. The beach however was the Greatest!! Pure heaven for a swim and pool enthuist such as myself. The waves were strong enough to give a good push, but gentle enough not to cause sea sickness. The pool had either been freshly cleaned or just always stays prestine, because I truly felt I was swimming in a sort of tropical ocean with crystal clear water. The best part was swimming all the way in the deep 7ft part and letting the waves carry you ashore. Ahhh heaven!! If you can't afford the plane flight to Cancun or Jamaica, the Mandalay Bay is for you. However word to the wise, we were there Wed-Fri, so Everywhere in the hotel was less crowded. When we checked out on Friday crowds suddenly appeared everywhere, lines formed to get EVERYWHERE elevators, buffet and resturants. Soooo, if you don't want to battle masses of people and most likey rude rushed service as a result. FOR GAWDSAKES DON'T STAY HERE ON A WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY (EXCEPT MAYBE X-MAS)........ But if its the weekday, enjoy, enjoy!

We were there at the end of August. We chose to stay there during the week and found that to be the best time. The pool was great, and being during the week, we found plenty of chairs to lounge in. If you can afford it, go to the Spa Mandalay-it is expensive but definitely worth the money! The only thing that we would suggest would be to have a few more fast places to eat. There are many nice restaurants, but to find a place in the hotel/casino where you could grab something really quick was next to impossible. Overall, we had a great time and would definitely stay there again!

We arrived on a Sunday afternoon, with lengthy check in lines. Our reservations made by an agent 6 months in advance were screwed up and we ended up paying $299 for a Sunday night, while our friends who booked only 2 months prior got their room for $109. This hotel has definate elevator issues, you have to wait in long lines to catch one.
The rooms are nice and the bathroom is beautiful, great pillows on the bed. We were charged $10.00 for 2 bottles of water that were never in our room (they did take that off the bill). It is impossible to get a chair at the pool unless you arrive early in the morning. The cabana's were completely booked for a week so reservations should be made prior to your arrival. The employees don't seem friendly and the dealers rarely smile. I can't remember a cocktail waitress ever coming by my machine. Nobody seems to win here and the casino was so cold inside, much colder than all the rest we visited. It is a long walk from all the action on the strip, and we would much prefer staying at a hotel closer to the middle of the strip.
