My girlfriend and I stayed the week of Sep 2nd-5th. In other words we were there during the week, and right after labor day weekend. I think this would be the only time I would stay at any place in Vegas. We were able to get a suite for 150 per night, and it was worth it. There were no lines at all and we got our room well before check in time (about 1 pm)We got exactly what we asked for, and were nicely surprised by the lack of cigarette smell in the casino, also the vanilla scent throughout the hotel was very pleasing. You definetly feel as if you are in a resort. Very upscale. Short walk to our room, although I would def. ask for a room number close to the elevators, we had a short walk, but I could definetly see how long the hallways were, seemed like half a mile. The room was clean, not as big as I would have thought for a suite. The big claim to fame here is the bathroom, huge tub for myself and my tall girlfriend, stand alone shower with glass door (enhances the romantic feel) lots of nice goodies (soap, sea salts, lotion) and I liked that the toilet was in a seperate part with its own door, so other people could occupy . The jacuzzi tub was very soothing, and the bed comfy enough, nice pillows. Big TV, very comfy sofa and chairs. We didn't get a view of the strip, but it was still nice and high. The food was decent, buffet awesome. Give it a try! The slots weren't very generous, but then again its Vegas, and what big casino is gonna be.
The drinks were pricey, about 7 bucks for a slushy margarita, but they were tasty. You must try a martini at the Red Square, very good!! Also, the foundation room Bar at the very top of the hotel has a great view.
We got passes, I think because we had a suite. All in All the hotel was beautiful and we felt like we were being pampered. The beach however was the Greatest!! Pure heaven for a swim and pool enthuist such as myself. The waves were strong enough to give a good push, but gentle enough not to cause sea sickness. The pool had either been freshly cleaned or just always stays prestine, because I truly felt I was swimming in a sort of tropical ocean with crystal clear water. The best part was swimming all the way in the deep 7ft part and letting the waves carry you ashore. Ahhh heaven!! If you can't afford the plane flight to Cancun or Jamaica, the Mandalay Bay is for you. However word to the wise, we were there Wed-Fri, so Everywhere in the hotel was less crowded. When we checked out on Friday crowds suddenly appeared everywhere, lines formed to get EVERYWHERE elevators, buffet and resturants. Soooo, if you don't want to battle masses of people and most likey rude rushed service as a result. FOR GAWDSAKES DON'T STAY HERE ON A WEEKEND OR HOLIDAY (EXCEPT MAYBE X-MAS)........ But if its the weekday, enjoy, enjoy!
