Stayed: North Tower, 18th Floor, King-Size Bed, Non-Smoking

I'm a college student, and was looking for an upper-class hotel while saving money. Most of the hotels directly on the strip are relatively expensive, so when the price came to roughly $60/night with taxes for the Hilton, it seemed very reasonable.

This place is not a Ritz Carlton. It is, however, not a Motel 6. It's a very decent casino/hotel for the money.

The Hilton is located in the north, relatively far from the actual strip. There is a monorail that I used everyday to get to the Strip hotels (monorail is hardly used, very underrated). It wasn't great having to stay about 5 minutes from the Strip, but I saved money staying @ the Hilton.

Some of my statistics/opinions:

- The television/network doesn't work well and is outdated.
- Room bathroom is decent. Large tub/shower.
- The beds are hard and sub-par.
- Casino is small, but clean. Not too many people.

+ Maid service was good.
+ The hall decor was somewhat classy, but the room interior is quite bare.
+ Room is fairly spacious.
+ Spa is pretty nice (got in for free w/ coupons)
+ Hotel was practically empty compared to other Strip hotels (saw long lines to check-in at other places)

Definitely recommend if you don't mind staying off the strip and having to commute 5 minutes.

Ok, you get what you pay for here! Room was very poor by Hilton standards. I was lucky to get a transfer because I complained but you might not be that lucky. It really needs a renovation big time. The room I moved to was decent but nothing to write home about. Buffet was average. Note this hotel is FAR from the strip.

After reading many negative reviews, we weren't sure if this was the place for us or not. My wife is VERY picky.
OK, the parking garage is a long walk from the elevators, but so are most hotels in the area.
Check-in took about 20 minutes. The clerk was super, honoring our request for king, nonsmoking, high, central tower. Elevators never took more than 60 seconds to arrive, usually 30 or less, and were fast. Our room was spotless. One table lamp had a bad switch and the AC had to run 24/7 to barely keep up. Each day was 100+ degrees. We had an L-shaped room on the 27th floor with a builtin desk along the window overlooking the pool.
The bathroom was well lighted with excellent mirror placement. We got no washcloths the second night, but a phone call got 5 brought quickly. No plumbing problems.
If ya go to Vegas and want coffee in your room, take a coffeemaker!!! We did and there was a large table which was perfect for it and our snacks, etc.
Security people check your vehicle over when you enter the parking garage, but there is no security to keep unregistered guests off the elevators. Anybody understand that?
A friend who lives in Vegas says the new owners have spent a lot of money updating this place and plan to spend much more. It shows.
This is our 4th strip area hotel and probably the best for the money.
Table players can probably get better comps elsewhere.

After reading some of the terribly negative reviews, I was a little nervous. But much to my surprise, we had an awesome experience!! Not only did we get a phenomenal deal (~75/night, including spa deal for two of those nights, on a holiday weekend!!!) but we also had a room with an awesome view of the strip! The front desk staff was very accomodating and check in was a breeze. I recommend you specifically ask for one of their 'newly renovated rooms' in the north tower.
The casino was nice because it wasn't jam packed with people, even on Friday and Saturday night when all the strip casinos were stuffed with holiday travelers. There were plenty of $.05 video poker machines, and most of them paid enough to let you play for awhile on their dollar.
The Paradise Cafe had good food, but was a bit overpriced. We totally enjoyed the breakfast, lunch and dinner buffets in the hotel. Reasonably priced with a pretty diverse range of choices. Their mini macadamia pies were to die for!!! :o)
The rooms were pleasantly decorated and suprisingly quite. One night my husband did have to get up at 4:30am to break up the hallway party, but that was the extent of any noise or disturbance.
If you are going to Vegas for a little R & R, I highly recommend spending the $150 for a private cabana in the pool area. We spent a wonderfully relaxing day with our friends playing games, watching the plasma screen TV, drinking cocktails, eating delicously fattening foods and indulging in an occaisional nap. The cabana boy (David) was very accomodating and kept us cool with the occaisional misting from his water bottle.
For all of you considering staying at the Hilton, just remember, it is what you make it. If you treat the staff with respect, they in turn will treat you with respect and see to it that your needs are met. For anyone who has left a negative review, I can only wonder what it was that has made you so sour. I just can't imagine having a bad time at this hotel. :o)

  • Liked — The price and the view from the room.
  • Disliked — Having to pay a "safe" fee.
  • Tips/Secrets: — Request one of their newly renovated rooms, in the north tower, with a view of the strip.

The hotel is old and it shows. Not only that, but it is also dirty, from the hallways to the rooms. Staff is unfriendly and they don't seem to care.
I've stayed at this hotel many times, but this is the first time in over one year. It has gone downhill !!!
Furniture is outdated, lots of scratches and stains and it serves very little ptractical purposes. The hotel is located next to the convention center, which is about the only positive thing, if you're in town for a convention.
Food at the hotel's restaurants (not the specialty ones) is mediocre at best.
Will not stay here again.

  • Liked — Nothing that I can think of
  • Disliked — Stingy rooms. Seems to be dirty. Very old
  • Tips/Secrets: — The corner rooms are larger than the other ones
