Although I felt I got a pretty good deal on the room ($80 a night), I was pleased to receive a room with a view to the north (downtown, as opposed to the strip, howver) on the 24th floor. I don't know if having Silver VIP status had anything to do with it. The room was large, clean, and comfortable. It has electric drapes, and an ample supply of large towels. Housekeeping was available most of the day (i.e. you could get your towels changed twice if you really needed it). It had a nice pool, which was open even in late November. The spa and gym were beautiful, with a hot sauna, dry sauna, and a steam room, and ample exercise equipment in good working order. They even provided free bottled water (although I think there would be a charge if you weren't Silver VIP or above).
I found the self-parking to be very convenient. You did NOT have to walk through the casino or through a shopping mall the size of Houston to get to your room or to the front desk. In fact, if your room was in the North tower, you could take the glass elevator (great views) and walk 90 seconds to your car. Of course, the valet parking is free, but if a convention comes out when you're ready to get your car, you'll have to wait.
The Star Trek Experience is a must for any Star Trek fan, and the gift store has a lot of unique star trek items (including some actual props for sale). As a hint, though, get your tickets at Tix4Tonight for just over half price. Tix4Tonight is located in the Hawaiian shopping mall just south of the Harley Davidson Cafe (and Aladdin). The Star Trek experience is probably the most technically sophisticated and interesting ride in Las Vegas.
Finally, the direct connection with the monorail is a big plus if you don't have your own car (or if you have one car, and one person needs it because the other is at a convention or meeting).
Is this the most visually stunning or luxurious hotel in Las Vegas? No. However, I feel anyone but the most demanding traveler will be satisfied that this hotel is an excellent value. Although I have to add that the Golden Nugget downtown is probably the best hotel value on the planet, if you want a hotel that's convenient to the Strip or Convention Center, and can get a decent rate, you should be very happy with the Las Vegas Hilton.
