Don't expect luxury or extravagance on the scale of one of the Vegas strip resorts, you won't get it. What you will get however is a nice, small, pleasant, clean hotel with very friendly helpful staff, a nice large room with a decent sized bathroom, living area and a great little kitchen area should you wish to prepare any of your own food. Further to this the location is great!!! Right in the middle of the famous Vegas strip and (if you're lucky enough to get a room on the north face of the building), a great view of Vegas across the Bellagio lake and dancing fountains.
Now the downside(s). It's unavoidable and has to be mentioned and that's the construction of the massive Cosmopolitan resort that has literally swallowed the poor Jockey Club alive!!! We were really concerned about the construction noise but there was no need to worry. There was a small amout of the noise on the north of the building but never enough to wake us up or disturb us in any way. Rooms on the south of the building will regretably have an appaling view of a big grey wall but let's face it, unless you're really boring, are you gonna sit in your room all day in a city like Vegas!? Nevertheless, not a very nice view all the same. The pool area is covered with a net to stop falling debris from the Cosmo building and due to fact the Cosmo towers above the Jockey Club (and still has another 20 or so floors to go), the pool area gets no sunlight whatsoever so don't go expecting to get a tan by the pool.
For us though, these things really didn't matter. Vegas is a simply amazing city and with the Jockey club you're right in the middle of it all. At the end of the day, we were only in the hotel to sleep and it served this purpose brilliantly. The construction didn't cause us any issues but didn't make the place massively aesthetically pleasing which is a shame but the location, cleanliness and sheer conveinience of the place made up for these things.
Go with an open mind and enjoy!!!! Please check out some of the photos too.
