“Noise in the extreme even with earplugs”

Funnily enough I booked this hotel because as a non-gaming hotel I thought it would be quieter. Not at all. It was so loud there it was like being on the building site. We asked if we could change rooms but were told that because we'd booked through Expedia the only rooms available were on the noisy side of the building. We'd paid so we would have had to go somewhere else and pay again and we had driven a long way. The heavy construction equipment was very close and kept going in the evening and started again at 5am. It was so noisy we couldn't use the bedroom and slept on the fold-out couch and used earplugs. The staff and rooms were nice but because of the noise a very unenjoyable place to stay.

This was our first visit to Las Vegas....and we are already planning the next! We got the Jockey Club through an exchange with our timeshare. It was the only resort available at the time we could go. We were told that there would be some construction going on...and boy they were right. The suite we had was not on the Bellagio side, so the view from our room looked a bit like "Ground Zero". We stayed on a labor day weekend so we didnt hear any of the constuction going on for the first few days. On the 4th day, the day we left, we did hear construction starting at 4 in the morning...which didnt bother us much because of the time change (7am New York time) we were pretty much awake. Hubby was able to sleep in a bit longer, though, before we had to be up for an 8am transfer to the airport. Because of its location I would definately recommend the Jockey Club. It is centrally located. The staff was very friendly and helpful. Even though the suite was dated, it was very clean and adequate. If you come to Vegas and live it up as we did...You won't be bothered by construction because you will be too tired for it to matter.

“It's a building site!”

Jockey Club

It may have been an ideally situated place once upon a time but it's literally in the middle of a building site now. I know work has to be carried out but this is horrendous. There's a 9 billion dollar construction being built which will take until 2009 to complete and the Jockey Club is slap bang in the middle of it all. We had a room facing the Bellagio but couldn't see it for cranes. They start up at 4am and for 3 nights we put up with the most unbelievable noise from a mechanical hammer outside the window (& we were on the 9th floor). I was feeling ill from lack of sleep so my husband requested a move. We were given a room in the main tower (there are 2 towers, Ascot & Derby) which was better but the hammer moved along the building and we heard it again from 6am. We spent the last 3 nights sleeping on the sofa bed with cotton wool in our ears so that we could close the doors on the bedroom and try to get some peace. The pool? It's covered by 2 nets to prevent anything falling from the site and everything's covered in a layer of dust. The corridors inside are being decorated too. I have to say the rooms are fine, well equipped and comfotable but I went for location and wish I'd stayed elsewhere. The car park fills up so if you don't get back before then you have to park in Planet Hollywood across the road and there's a shuttle back.........very inconvenient. We used the Bellagio car park a couple of times and walked back. We have had timeshare for 20 years but we couldn't find anywhere available do booked this as a rental but I'm glad we hadn't used a week for this. It's a shame though, it's hardly their fault that this is happening around them but it's not what you need on holiday is it?.

just a note to say keep a wide berth from the jockey club if you are a timeshare owner as myself stay at polo towers/ chateau maroitt or the carriage house as there is building all around this hotel it is a nightmare you will be wasting your week/points here it is also very run down and should never be listed on interval website as 5 star very missleading, i am writing this review to fore warn all other timeshare owners not to book and stay here dont waste your week and dont waste your points and tranfer fees stay elsewhere!!!!!

Check in was a breeze, no huge lines like at the casinos. Condo was CLEAN. Furniture adequate--King bed seemed new-firm and comfortable. Loved the double doors dividing bedroom and living room/kitchen area. Had absolutely everything we needed. Construction around area was ongoing though we had absolutely no trouble with noise. Front doors of the hotel were closed off and had to enter through the back. Walk to the strip was really short, however, at night it would make you hesitant to walk alone. I didn't see any type of security. Cabs would drop you off, but not pick you up at the hotel due to the construction. Jockey Club did provide a shuttle (no waiting-just hop in) that took you across the street to Planet Hollywood where you could catch a cab. All in all it was a very good experience and I would definitely stay again.
