My wife, son and I spent a less than thrilling 4 nights at this Strip hotel, from 4/26-4/30/05, hoping to warm up after a cool but comfortable 4 nights stay in a hotel near to Fisherman's Wharf in San Franciso.
We experienced problems from the start - delayed check-in with no key available. Hang around, eat and wait! The pool view from the 18th floor room was marred by obviously dirty windows. Move on to the air conditioning, which was very noisy - we slept with the unit "Off" to reduce the sound. Strike one!
The bathroom facilities were small, a bit cramped and did not include an exhaust fan, so taking a shower required us to turn on the noisy air conditioner to seek relief from the humidity. Strike two!!
Pool: When we arrived the slide pool was closed and remained that way throughout our 5 day, 4 night stay. The management even had the audacity to close the main pool and Jacuzzi one entire day, for a private party- a definite turnoff and certainly not customer friendly. Strike Three!!!
I read another's review that the hotel nickel and dimed ( actually $1'd and $5'd ) you to death for services/ access to facilities, with which I wholeheartedly agree.
Even their coffee and the "corner stand" menu offerings were overpriced in my view. We really don't like to wait in lines, but for one day's morning coffee, I endured a 20 minute wait - but did not subject myself to that form of harrassment - opting instead for less expensive coffee from a nearby shop instead. BONUS: Strike 3 1/2 and coup d' grace!!!!
We were not impressed with the quality of the nightly entertainment - again not family friendly and a bit dated and tired - so we took refuge in several other hotels' entertainment offerings which more suited our interests and desires.
If I/ we ever go back to Las Vegas, it certainly won't be to stay at this overpriced, glitzy, fading giant hotel.
