This was my fourth business trip to Vegas in the past i had stayed in the Luxor and the cheesy old Stardust.
I chose a Go Luxury room for my six night stay. The extra money was worth it with larger bathroom, ipod dock, HD tv and decent wireless connection.
I had a view of the strip across to Caesars and the Bellagio which was great.
The staff were very good from front of house to housekeeping. From a transport point of view i found the mono rail station to the convention centre really good, quick and clean.
I must be honest and admit i only ate in the buffet at the Flamingo and went elsewhere such as Caesars for food and charged it on to my room.
Overall the house that Bugsy built is worth a visit, but splash the cash for the Go luxury room.

“Great stay on the whole”

Flamingo Las Vegas

We stayed for two nights at the Flamingo the way home from a trip.
* Room - we had a Go room and it seemed great ,far superior to the regular room we had when we last took this trip thre years ago. Not as pink as I expected. Entertaining retro style. Very clean and nice with all the amenities many have noted. Quick check in and no other problems. I don't like the white hallways - shows too many marks and all the doors have scuff marks from people trying to open them. We paid $93 including tax which was a great rate.
* Pool - we have chosen the Flamingo both times because of the great pools for kids. The pools are still great - the waterslide pools are great, the big pool with waterfall is fun. We did not do the Go pool obviously. The pool area is busy but I think that's to be expected. This time we did notice something that irked us - the pool operation is very inefficient. They were slow to get the pools open after a weather break, they were late every day opening the waterslide, most of all the lifegards are the most sullen and miserable lot we've seen in many many pools over many years of family life. This is too bad and seems like it ought to be an easy fix. The hotel staff we met were all very friendly. But we might chose a hotel that suits us better next time if this is going to be the pool situation.

We loved our Go Room and loved the Flamingo. The room is a chic blend of retro/new with a great bed, 42" plasma screen TV, TV in the bathroom mirror( I need that now!) and a stereo with a complimentary CD. We ate at Margaritaville, Voga, and the cafe- all good quality. Las Vegas was 112 degrees in the afternoon. We went to the pool at 8 am when it opened. It was beautiful and had a great sound system- lots of fun 80's music. Everything you would need was right there. Everyone treated us like gold wherever we went in this hotel. We would definitely go back.

We stayed in a Go Room for $100 per night after taxes, overlooking the Go Pool. (will discuss the Go Pool later). We stayed June 2 -6 Monday through Friday. We checked in at 10:00 a.m. but room wasn't ready. In fairness to the Flamingo, check in starts at 4:00. No line to check in. We checked back frequently with the concierge and got into our room at 1:00.

Room was clean and very cool looking. Big comfortable bed. Nice plasma TV. We had a couple of issues (broken lamp, safe didn't work). We called the desk and this was corrected within a hour. They cleaned our room very well each day.

Regular pool is a big beautiful lagoon-like pool with 4 billion lounge chairs crammed around the pool deck. In fairness again to the Flamingo, every chair in the joint was used by guests. You have to get down to the pool in the morning to reserve chairs or you will be wondering around looking for a home base. People had a lot of fun around the pool. Music played, pool volleyball etc. The bikini clad cocktail waitresses were all over the place to get you drinks. Great people watching. Nice atmosplere, but don't plan on taking a nap by this pool.

If you can splurge, rent a cabana. $250 per day, but it included a one liter bottle of boose (we chose Absolute) and all the mixers. You get a TV, private lounges, fridge, shade and private waitress service. Not that bad of a deal, if you normally enjoy a few drinks on vacation, anyway. They say that the cabanas are for 6 people, but I would say 4 is the right number.

The Go Pool is a smaller private pool surrounded by fences and trees. Much more quiet and very relaxing. Women can relax at this pool for free but men have to pay $10 per day. Women can choose to take their tops off at this pool, but everyone needs to be 21 years old to be there. We spent one day at this pool. I would say that 20% of the women chose to loose their tops. There were basically two groups of people at this pool; couples (like my wife and me) and small groups of women.

At $100 per night this was a great value, but they charge extra for things that I think could have been included. There were no coffee makers in the room, so you have to go downstairs to buy a cup of coffee. The gym cost $10 per day.

The breakfast buffet was very good. The coffee shop was OK for lunch. Those were the only meals we ate at the Flamingo.

If I can ever get myself to spend $425 per night, I might try the Wynn, but for the price, the Flamingo gives you nice rooms, a great pool scene and one of the best locations on the strip.

After reading several bad reviews on Flamingo standard rooms and how nasty the employees were ,we were pleasantly surprised. We had stayed in a "Go Room" the year before and loved it. Upon arriving we saw the check-in line go on for what seemed like a mile, I looked over and saw a line marked for gold card players with nobody there so we moved up to the front and were helped within a few moments by a very friendly employee. The room we had asked for was not available at that time so we checked our luggage went to eat and came back a couple of hours later. The room was ready and again the employee was exceptionally friendly. The room was nothing special but adequate with clean towels and sheets each day (they do not clean under the bed, I found that a little disturbing as when the bed wasn't made you could see everything left behind by others). The pool was great, along with the location. All in all we would stay there again.
