Stayed five nights for $290 so can't complain much (got a flyer for the hotel for 2 free nights plus weekends at $115). Checked in at 1 AM and was given the worst room ever. Looked like it had been last touched in the 1970s. The a/c made a loud noise every time it switched on. The next day, i called the room assignment dept. and was given a room on the 16th floor with an ok view of the fountains at Bellagio and the CityCenter project. Although I was told this was a "renovated" room, it didn't look like it to me (see my photo of the bathroom door). For the price you can't beat it.... NOW. But with economy down AND the opening of 20k new rooms in Vegas in the next 18 months, this property and others will drop their rates to 1/2 of what they are now, and then they may not survive. Other than Caesars, this is the best property in Harrah's Vegas empire, but that's not saying much. Echelon, Encore, Cosmo and the mega CityCenter will put the pressure on Vegas to start delivering again.

After a disappointing stay in 2005 I emailed Harrahs for help advising them that I would like to try and stay again and will be returning with my parents (both in their 70's) so I wanted to make sure that this stay would be a special one for my parents as
it was their first visit to Las Vegas. Finally I received an email advising
"We do understand your concerns and I regret that you felt mistreated in any way. I certainly hope that the phenomenal service you receive on your upcoming visit will
convert any ill feelings you may currently have about Flamingo into rave reviews!
My offer still stands to block your three rooms near each other and with fabulous views, but, once again, we will not be applying any discounts or complimentaries to said rooms.....I look forward to hearing back from you so that we may get these rooms
reserved and blocked for your next visit! Thanks for this opportunity to serve you once again."

So as I was promised "phenomenal service" this time I took this to mean they would look after my family and booked again with the hotel. I like the location being so close to Caesers Palace and thought it would be nice and central for my parents to get around also so that is why I chose it the 2nd time as it does have the location going for it.
I advised that we would be arriving quite late several times which they advised me would be fine and of coarse when we arrived they had given our rooms AWAY.....It was horrifying but we were advised that is something that happens all the time.

It was devastating to travel all that way again from AUSTRALIA via HAWAII and we did not get anything like we had been promised nor did we receive any "phenomenal service" The staff were very rude to us on arrival.
They put us all on different floors and had my mother in tears as she became lost and couldnt find her way back to our rooms. They couldnt have cared less, their staff are amongst the rudest I have encountered any where in the world, they just check everyone in like pack horses and their is no customer service whatsoever, no offer to help with luggage and people are dragging their luggage themselves all through the casino floor
to the lifts.
My room had filthy torn sheets which looked like they had not been changed from the previous guest and I had to request for them to be changed before I could sleep in them. They do have a lovely pool area but it is constantly closed for wedding functions and after calling the front desk was advised we could go over to Caesers Palace for a swim but we didnt find this out till our last day so that was very dissappointing also.
I left a letter of complaint for the Hotel Manager after we had checked out advising how upsetting our stay had been and also emailed Harrahs again when I got home to let them know, but they had more or less replied that as it gets so booked that they had to give our rooms away and that sort of thing is quite ok to happen, even though we had the promise from Harrahs they couldnt have cared less.
I then forwarded my complaint to the Las Vegas Consumer Affairs office and the Governor of Las Vegas's office as Harrahs response to the Las Vegas Consumer Affairs office was full of complete lies about our stay and I was so upset that I took it further.
I just want to put my experience on this site to hopefully avoid this happening again to another family, as Harrahs nor the Hotel care less about the guests, and it is heartbreaking after travelling so far. I had asked for our money back as it was not what we were promised but they didnt even offer 1 cent as an apology.
In Australia if there is a written guarantee from a Hotel then it will be honoured without question, the Las Vegas Consumer Affairs office advised me that they give rooms away all the time in Las Vegas as they get so overbooked but it is very wrong to promise guests something and then when you arrive hoping you will get as promised you, but simply DO NOT......
The Hotel has become very tacky with the new rooms it would be much better to pay a bit more and stay at one of the nicer, classier hotels that will really value their guests.
I am still endevouring to pursue the matter further with the Govenors office in the hopes that this sort of thing stop happening.

Lodged there while at an on-site conference in late June. We stayed in one of the standard "deluxe" rooms, which was shabby at best. The chairs were stained, carpeting was dirty, and we could never figure out why the chambermaid was so inept in making the bed. The sheets were always loose, sometimes falling off the mattress, and the box spring had no covering. Linens were straight out of an odd lot sale, maybe 200 thread count.
I must say that the grounds were nicely landscaped, loved the flamingos, and the pool was good, but very crowded (hey, it was over 110 degrees each day!)
Restaurants were mediocre at best, and overpriced. The clientele was not the most sophisticated, almost depressing. We played the slots in the casino a couple of times, found the servers to be somewhat nasty.
For style, go to the Bellagio or the Venetian!
Perhaps if we had paid the extra fee, maybe the GO rooms would have been a better choice.

I booked 4 nights 7/9 - 7/13/08 through tripres.com, total for the 4 nights was $470, considering this included Friday and Saturday I thought it was a good deal, it included a GO room and a bunch of coupons. the same 4 nights at Wynn or Palazzo was $400 more. as much as I want to stay at these other properties, at this time, I wanted to save the $$ and use it for other things while visiting Las Vegas. Note: GO rooms that face the strip don't have a bathtub, but GO rooms that face the pool do, make sure to request this at the time of reservation. the first night i had a problem with the temperature of the water in the tub, the 2nd night the plumber showed me how to change the temperature, it was easy but not so clear - he said he gets 3 - 4 calls a night about this, so obviously I am not the only one who had the same issue. meanwhile, the room was clean, the 1st night a neighbor had their tv or dvd on too loud. the other 3 nights were fine. there is a small refrigerator in the room where we kept our gallon water we had bought. we liked the tv located in the mirror in the bathroom. note: I like to to rate hotels by their towels and water pressure, pressure was great, towels are not the luxury type you get at Venetian or Bellagio. other than that, a little too much cigarette smoke for me in the casino, X show was ok, got the tickets at 1/2 price at tixtonite at fashion show mall. margarita pizza downstairs next to Voga is excellent. this hotel is not luxury but it was clean and excellent location, easy walking to Caesar's and the 4 corners there. I recommend this for those on a budget and want a clean room with a good location,

“Room with Vomit”

Flamingo Las Vegas

Jul 14, 2008

I planned a 40th birthday party for my husband (who has never been) in Vegas with 13 of our closest friends who were all staying at the Flamingo. Upon making the reservations we were all to be placed on the same floor however; when our friends arrived they had trouble getting the rooms that we were originally told we were going to have. (Note: we called the hotel on several occasions prior to our arrival to ensure)

We arrived at the Flamingo around 10pm to check in on Wednesday, June 25th. The reservation desk told us that our room wasn’t clean and it is a 30 minute wait. We thought that was strange as check-in is at 3pm in which we were well past that time. In addition, several members in our party had complications when checking into the hotel as well. We checked in and upon walking into the room it had a very strong 'cleaning' smell. As it was just cleaned we thought it would lighten up so we unpacked and left the room to check the hotel out. Upon arriving back in our room about 2:30am....the room was filled with a very harsh chemical smell with an aroma of vomit. My husband walks over the side of the bed in his bare feet only to step in the large wet spot where the vomit was cleaned up! The chemical smell is so bad that our friend staying in the room with us gets an allergic reaction in his eye which puffs up and gets all red. You could not breath in the room so we all went out into the hallway.

I proceed down to the reservation desk to inform them as we can not sleep in this room. After speaking with the reservation desk and a manager, they were aware that they knowingly put us in a room that should have not been used for at least a couple days. They offered us another room in which we had to move rooms at 3:30am! At no time, did the manager offer to comp our night but telling me that he was giving us this amazing room….yeah….not so amazing but at least it didn’t smell like vomit.

As far as the rooms they are not what they appear to be on the website and the customer service prior to our arrival and upon arrival was very dissatisfying.

We did rent a cabana at the 21 and over pool on a Friday. We had a great time and the service was wonderful. The pool area of the hotel is awesome and the employees in the pools, bars and other areas are very friendly and kind.

Shall we travel back to Vegas in the future; we will not stay at the Flamingo.
