My sister and I stayed in a Go! Room Friday, February 22 - Monday, February 25th, 2008. We both really liked the Flamingo and found the room (22105) very comfortable and liked the modern amenities.
Our room had two comfortable queen beds, a desk, chair and small table, huge flat screen TV with a dvd/cd player (came in handy when we could play music when getting ready to go out and watch (part of) a movie when nothing was on tv) with great speakers, closet with safe and a nice bathroom. The only thing I wish the room would have had is a mini-fridge. We had plenty of room for all our stuff and noise was never a problem. Housekeeping was great and always had our room nicely made-up; I made sure to always leave a few dollars tip for the housekeeper.
Check-in was quick - there was no one in line when we checked in around 11:30 PM Friday night - and checkout was pretty quick also (about a ten minute wait on Monday close to noon). Room service was always faster than their estimated time and everything we ordered was delicious (breakfast items such as eggs and pancakes, late nite bites such as pepperoni pizza and a steak hoagie) and well worth the extra $3 per person plus all their taxes to eat good food in our pj's!
We aren't gamblers and only spent literally 10 minutes gambling at the Flamingo casino but I did win $24 on the nickel slots so I was happy!
We tried the Flamingo spa on Sunday and enjoyed a really relaxing Swedish 50 minute massage and use of the sauna. This was a perfect way to end our trip after two heavy days of partying. The fitness center (daily charge of $10) is very well equipped (newer machines including ellipticals, treadmills and bikes, lots of free weights and weight machines) and allows you access to the spa also (which has a sauna, steam room, showers and offers a bunch of treatments).
We ate at the 24 hour cafe and weren't impressed with the food (both had the oriental chicken wrap which was served cold and was not very tasty) but the service was pretty quick. We also tried a small cafe/deli located by the Island Bar and had a good, although expensive, sandwich and fruit. We had the Flamingo dinner buffet on Saturday and seemed to get there just in time - around 5 - for dinner before a longer line formed. The food was okay, nothing spectacular, but we both found something we liked. They had a huge tower of seafood (I think shrimp) so anyone who likes that would have enjoyed this buffet. Nothing great stands out but it was a quick, simple dinner and we enjoyed our nice view of the waterfall and fish.
The only negative experience we had was with the salon. I had called and made us appointments prior to our arriving in Vegas to get our hair washed and styled and was quoted a price - only to be told when we arrived it would be double and that didn't even include washing the hair. I was very specific with what we wanted but perhaps should have questioned the pricing more. Needless to say, we decided to do our own hair and use that money to drink and eat.
Overall, we really enjoyed our stay and loved our Go! room - the Flamingo is in a great location and all the staff we encountered were friendly.
