OK, so it has taken me a while to get to this review, but I'm going back to Vegas next month and just started thinking about it again. The Hard Rock was lots of fun; the music was good. The rooms have Bose Wave Radios. We had booked a mountain view room and were woken up at 7 am by construction noise outside (they were building a stage for the killers concert a couple of days later). Also, mountain view actually means airport view. Don't do it, unless you really need to save the money. A couple of other things in our room were broken. We complained and eventually got moved to a suite on the pool side. Nice!! Separate living room, huge bathroom with jetted tub, etc.
We had room service. I wanted the tuna steak sandwich that I had gotten at the pool the day before, but it wasn't on the menu, but they brought it to me anyway. I think we got much better treatment in the suite.
We were 2 single girls, age 28. There were hardly any other women at the hotel. Every time we sat down to gamble, some guys from another table would try to get us to go over to their table.
We were there mid-week. At first, we didn't like it bc it was too far from the strip, the shuttle service is limited, and taxi rides were adding up. But by Thursday we didn't want to leave! the hotel definitely takes on a different attitude as you get closer to the weekend.
The highlight of our trip was on the last night, when we came in at 5 am, two members of Green Day were playing at the $5 blackjack table. They saw us checking them out and invited us over to play with them. Very cool!!
I would stay there again, but it is so expensive during the weekends, which are the really fun time. I wouldn't recommend it for your first trip to Vegas, since it is a good way from the strip, unless you don't mind paying $10 for a taxi numerous times a day.
We ate at Mr. Lucky's several times. Good country-fried steak and mashed potatoes. $7.77 deal is just ok, but it is cheap.
Also, pretty good comps at this hotel.
