“People having SEX at the pool - Worst hotel!!!”

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Jun 12, 2006

My husband and I booked three nights at the end of May 2006. As soon as we walked in the lobby and overheard someone complaining at the registration desk that people were openly having sex at the pool, we asked to cancel our reservations. Sorry, need 72 hours notice. We were stuck. The rooms were sub-par to say the least, and we were disgusted to see that handcuffs and sexual aids were on the room service menu.

Our room overlooked the pool and we were treated to a view of half naked women parading around the pool, and couples engaging in sex acts right out in the open. It appears this is encouraged by the staff, considering the room service menu. The walls are painfully thin, so we were able to hear the party next door on one side and the couple engaging in very vocal sex on the other side of our room. A couple that we met at the restaurant told us they were denied admittance to the pool because they weren't young swimsuit model-types. And a hotel with a restaurant named "The Pink Taco"? Come on.

We left the next day and will never return. Families beware. Stay clear.

We have just returned from our 1st stay at the Hard Rock (have been there many times, but never stayed). My husband and I are in our early thirties, and contrary to popular beliefs by other reviewers, still love to party at this age! (To all you lame people in your thirties, sorry, don't come to Vegas) This hotel is the perfect place for having the best time of your lives! We came here to meet some friends at the Rehab party, which was by far the best pool party we have ever been to, and quite possibly, the best party, period! Relax, the party on Monday, was a great way to recooperate from Sunday's Rehab :)
The waitress/cocktail staff at the pool were awesome! (especially for as busy as they were!) The DJ's were the best!
Our room was great, and very clean. We had no problems with noise, as we were not in the room that much anyway. The front desk staff was very accomodating, as well as the bell staff and valet. Our only complaint was that on the last morning (check out), the front desk called and asked for a credit card to put our charges on. That wasn't the problem, since we were checking out anyway. The problem was, they called at almost 9 A.M. Just a little early in my opinion (it is vegas, and I thought I left one on file)
As for the casino, we didn't play as much as usual, with all the pool partying we were doing. Normally, though, everyone there is great too, and you will usually catch a glimpse of a celeb or two playing blackjack or sitting at the bar. The bartenders are all friendly and talkative, and will usually be glad to help a hangover with a concoction of their own.
Restaurants- Pink Taco is our favorite- it's like a party within a party! Food and drink is awesome there. Mr. Lucky's is good all-american food 24/7. I wasn't so impressed with Nobu, even with all of the hype. We are sushi connoisseurs, and I've had a lot better in local vegas sushi joints.
The shops at the Hard Rock are all great- even if you don't have a lot of money to spend, at least check out the Hard Rock gift shop (don't know the name) for some unique things to bring back to friends.
All in all, we love this place. We have stayed at the Wynn, Treasure Island, Monte Carlo, Mandalay Bay, Luxor, Aladdin, New York New York, Stratosphere, and even the Sahara. They are all the same if you just want to eat and gamble. If you want a truly unique, rock and roll party experience, stay at the Hard Rock Hotel. We came home and already were looking for excuses to come back to the next Rehab party and the Hard Rock!

The Hard Rock is definitely a party spot. Don't expect a quiet night's sleep (that's what the music channel on your TV is for -- to block out other guests' noise). Do expect tons of attitude from the staff and other revelers (if you look like the SoCal "in" crowd, it'll make it easier.) And forget about using the valet parking -- the traffic flow pattern is awful, and it's quicker to just self-park in the garage then walk into the hotel through the casino.

All of that sounds pretty negative, right? But there's a lot to love here. From Muay Thai kickboxing in the spa gym, to the all-night diner Mr. Lucky's that serves great good, to the swim-up blackjack in the gorgeous Polynesian pool area, to Body English nightclub (which really does have a decent DJ), to the super-mod design of the rooms, which have the most outrageous and naughty mini-bar and room service items. Free local calls, too.

All in all, given the prices (especially mid-week), it's a good deal for Vegas. And fun! If you don't have a car, plan on taking taxis to/from the Strip, as their shuttle runs short hours.

We stayed here with a bunch of other people for my best friends birthday on the kick off weekend of the Rehab party(Sundays). There was also a popular concert at the Joint going on. It was very busy there that weekend. It didn't start off too well when checking in as they informed me I would be charged 150 a night for incidentals because I was using a debit/credit card. I have stayed at the Four Seasons and Mandarin hotels and never been charged that much for incidentals or had any problems with my card.

The rooms are average with a decent bed and flat screen and a nice view. The one horrible thing about the room was that there was very little hot water. I turned the water off and one one morning a few times before getting any water that felt even remotely warm. Room service was great and had excellent food. Casino was my favorite place for gambling. We gambled at Ceasars Palace for several hours and couldn't wait to get back to the Hard Rock casino. We never even got one drink there in 3 hours! The Celine show there was wonderful, but I would only go back to that hotel to see her again. Pink Taco and Luckys both had good food and service. Nothing spectacular, but nothing to complain about.

Geared towars YOUNG people and great for people watching. Pool is very nice although I never heard the music under the water? We had a cabana one day and that was really nice with very attentive service . The waitress at Rehab was horrible. They kept our license for our tab and when it was time to go we couldn't find her for an hour.

I doubt I would stay there again for the price, but all in all it wasn't too bad. A very cool hotel to stay in for like a 21st bday celebration or a bachelor party. Once you hit 30 or so you might want to stay somewhere else.

“Great Stay, Would stay again”

Hard Rock Hotel and Casino

Stayed at the Hard Rock for business meetings. Arrived to check in at 11:30am, no rooms available (check-in is at 3p) so they took my cell. I was in the middle of shopping in the casino shops when they called to tell me my room was ready, about 10 min after I got there...excellent turnaround. The room view was non-existant (of a roof and side of building) but didn't mind since I got checked in early and was there for business. Room is a nice size...roomy with good internet access. Drawback has already been reported many times in previous reviews...the walls are paper thin so if sleeping is a goal this is not the best place.
Overall it's a great casino since it's smaller and more intimate. Shopping is good and eating good too...ate both at the steakhouse and the Pink Taco. Room service breakfast was excellent morning of check-out. The constant heaviness of cigarette smoke/smell in both my room and the meeting room really affected me but everywhere you go in Vegas its like living in an ashtray so I don't fault the HardRock for that.

I'd stay at the HardRock again to get off the strip and away from the hustle of the bigger casinos. The dealers were upbeat and friendly. Nothing beats playing blackjack with great music playing...the discerning detail of gambling at the HR.
