I stayed at the Hard Rock last summer with my husband and two teenage kids. It was a last minute vacation and the Hard Rock was the only one that had reasonable prices. I was a little hesitant about being off the strip, but it ended up being fine as they have a shuttle that goes back and forth every half hour.
Check-in was a breeze unlike many Vegas hotels. We checked in early because our flight was early and they gave us a room with no hassle. The whole family loved the pool- it was spacious, yet private. Rock music was in the background but not too loud and we could still lay back and take a nap. The whole family loved the waterslide but we all agreed that the best part of the pool is the comfy floats you can rent and float around the pool in.
We loved the size of the hotel. It wasn't huge like all the other Vegas hotels, so we could easily access the rooms and it didn't take forever to walk from one side to the other. The staff treated us like individuals and by the second day, the cocktail waitress at the pool knew exactly how we like our drinks and she would just bring them out for us- it was great! The casino was small, but we didn't use it much anyway. They could improve the dining options, though. The bedrooms were wonderful- the beds were extremely comfortable (pillow top matresses and egyptian cotton sheets), we had different pillow choices, there was a small balcony, and there was a nice sitting area. In the bathrooms they left tiny tubes of toothpaste along with the usual shampoo and lotion.
When I told a lot of people that I was bringing my kids to the Hard Rock they thought I was crazy since it has such a bad reputation. It was definately a wild, young adult crowd, but my kids have seen worse on an episode of the "Real World." Plus, it made for great people watching and you might even catch a glimpse of a celebrity (my daughter got some rock guy's autograph at the pool). The main floor was a little too smoky for my taste, but everywhere else it was fine.
I will definately stay at the Hard Rock again and I would recommend it to anyone!
