I went to the Rock, tipped the registration clerk, got upgraded to a deluxe suite. Room was excellent, nice picture of Janis Joppelin in our room. We had a nice hot tub/jacuzzi in our room, where i was able to order cadillac margaritas deliverred to me in the hot tub. Also had a pool view overlooking the strip and the famous pool. During our stay we got to witness stripper dodgeball championships, unbelievable. The hotel offers free transportation to the strip. All in all it is good stay off the strip, away from all the families, and traps of the huge casino's. Go during the week for best rates.

We stayed at this hotel recently on July 31. Our stay was okay but nothing to brag about. We checked in rather late but encountered absolutely no problems and courteous service. The bellman, doorman and security were very friendly. The room was clean but no water glasses. Called housekeeping with no answer. Called front desk and it took more than 30 minutes. The walls are paper thin and you can hear your loud neighbors easily. The housekeeping staff was really rude and woke us up at 8 AM with tremendous laughing, talking, walkie talkies blaring and vacuuming without turning it off right outside my door! I heard "towels for room 355 and the like for what seemed like an eternity. It seemed like they were conducting their union meeting right outside my door. With the three hour time difference and a long flight I just wanted to sleep to 10 AM. When I opened the door to ask for some quiet they continued their loud banter. I spoke to the manager and he was wonderful and sympathetic and at least made me feel better. This is definitely a hotel for the young. The pool area looked awesome.

I am early 30s, a little old to consider myself hip or cool, but I have stayed here twice, both times during the week, and it has always been fine. It is not a place for serious gamblers or people who generally like the traditional vegas scene, but I prefer it because it is less crowded and overwhelming than some of the larger strip hotels. The pool is great, sandy lagoon, water slide, cocktail service, etc. I ate at Nobu and it was ok - Pink Taco good for drinks and a quick bite. All that being said, I would never try to stay here on a weekend. The rates are outrageous and I am sure it is extremely crowded at that time. Also check their concert calendar - you might want to coordinate according to who is (or isn't) playing during your visit!

I'm shocked by all the negative reports on the Hard Rock Hotel. I've stayed there three times and would definitely go back again.
Yes the clientele is twenty-something but what's wrong with that. I'm in my late 50's and enjoy being aroung the young folks. I must admit that all my stays have been "off season" with no major events going on and therefore extremely reasonable rates ($49-69). Their website is terrific for indicating the days with the best prices. Twice I was able to get a pool view room for just $10 extra.
I love the decor and the wooden floors. I haven't tried the "upscale" restaurants but have enjoyed the Pink Taco and the 24 hour cafe.
During the day when everyone is out at the pool the casino area is quiet, attentive and winning. I've always been impressed with security measures around the elevators at night and never experienced the loud noise and disruptive behavior described by others.
One other nice feature is the feee shuttle to the strip. Every driver I've had was courteous and on time.

Just back from 2/great days at the Hard Rock Hotel & Casino (June 2004)! WOW! This hotel is to be experienced NOW during the hot weather in Vegas which mostly is the summer months. The POOL is the best in Vegas and we have been to almost every hotel on and off the strip. Make sure to try the hotel for the pool - it is just gorgeous, big, landscape is a beauty - you feel like you are on a tropical island and not in Vegas. Real sand beaches, lazy river, palm trees, swim up black jack table - just amazing amazing pooL! We are a married couple in our 40's and yes this hotel tends to get a wild young crowd but it is loads of fun, great people watching too. Sundays is a bit wild at the pool but on Monday it is a bit calmer with young families and children. Either way you will not feel out of place and will have a ball! The rooms are very nice too. All are huge and done in cool grey stylish colors. The rooms all have beautiful french doors either looking out on the garden/mountain or the pool. Nice huge bathrooms, cd players all over the place. You can't go wrong with this hotel. Staff is young, hip, good looking and very helpful to all guests. The food is well another thing. You have one restaurant called Luckys which is open 24 hours a day and is wonderful. You can get almost anything here and the prices were very reasonable. They have PINKS which is a fun mexician restaruant - again very reasonable and great food. RIBS were out of this world. The place is decorated really cool too. They have NOBU and that is a great RICH, EXPENISVE SUSHI restaurant. It is a bit on the pretentious side and very expensive - so if you are not into dropping a lot of money or into raw fish - be warned on this place! Again a good place to people watch - a lot of celebrities frequent this spot - if you are into that. The other restaurant is Simons and that is a total joke! Gorgeous restaurant but food is so so and the prices are through the roof! $35.00 for chicken and $50.00 for steak. They had some obnoxious young teeny-bopper waiters who sereved us and it was really bad! Everything a la carte. $10.00 for a side dish of cold mashed potatoes. So be warned on this place!

Good restaurants by the pool with fun hip beautiful waitresses. Good sandwiches, salads etc. Yes the drinks are a bit pricy but you are in Vegas and on vacation and it is very fun and colorful spot to be at.

This place like I said earlier is a must now during the hot months in Vegas. The pool is the place to be. You won't be disappointed. It is that good.

Hope this helps! Happy travels to all!
