My spouse and another couple all travelled together to Vegas. It was our first time, there 5th.
We had originally booked another hotel earlier, but booked our flights at a later date, which gave us an unanticipated extra night in Vegas. The extra night landed us at the Golden Nugget.
We were pleased with everything the minute we stepped into the Nugget. It was very nicely decorated, it was bustling with people, we had a quick and easy check in, plenty of restaurants, casino close by and our rooms were great. The rooms were nice and spacious, clean, well decorated and charming. We also had no troubles parking our rental car.
We spent a 1/2 day by the pool. It was darn hot, but we managed to stay cool on the 2nd level under the shade of the palm trees. We also took frequent dips in the pool to cool off. Also it was a must to view the shark/fish tank from in the pool and of course take a fast slide through the tank into the pool. Although the line up for the waterslide looked intimadating it moved quickly. When relaxing on the lounge chair there was a drink service available which we partook in and found the drinks to be reasonably priced considering other places we had been (of course they don't beat the $1 Margherita's on the Strip!)
After the pool, my husband and I ate at the Grotto on site. We had a fantastic meal and great service. Our friends ate earlier at the Buffet and said there was lots of variety and they ate well.
This casino and the Fremont St area seemed to be our last lucky day for gambling. We had not fared well on the Strip, but Fremont proved for us to be our jackpot (we are by all means not big gamblers, and winning $25 is huge to us!!).
Great area to stay in at night witht he entertainment, casino's and old style Vegas Neon lights.
We highly recommend staying at the Golden Nugget if Vegas is your choice.
