We enjoyed a three-night stay, and found the staff to be friendly, helpful, and generous with the half-price coupons for Magnolia's Veranda. The wait at Magnolia's got tedious during busy hours, but the service was great, and the portions generous. The Chicago Brew Pub is small but inviting, and the beers were a hit. We missed Hugo's Cellar, and the small donut/deli/coffee shop is defunct.
The room on the back side of the South Tower was nice and clean, the queen beds were comfortable. Bathroom was rather small for the room, but clean and restocked daily with fresh, thick towels, soaps, and shampoo. During our stay, the electric outlet for the desk area did not work, we had to make coffee on the floor, elsewhere in the room - and couldn't use the lamp. The two-lamp light fixture between the beds was broken, requiring us to unscrew one bulb to turn that light off. The telephone didn't work. The music from Fremont Street can be heard as a rumble, but is not too bad.
The casino is just a little crowded in busy times, and they follow the Vegas tradition of not putting out benches or chairs anywhere - in spite of the numbers of middle-aged and elderly patrons they get every year. The conversion of Fremont street to a pedestrian mall is a wonderful development that allows people to simply cruise between the casinos and the Fremont street vendors with ease.
Overall, it was a pretty good place, and we will be back. Had we spent more time in our room...we might have tried to get another with working fixtures - but it was not that important to us, so we did not complain.
