While the structure is Old Vegas, the rooms have been updated and upgraded and are very comfortable, and very clean. The Fremont Street location allows you to get out and walk to other casinos/hotels, restaurants, gift shops, a multi-screen theatre, etc. If you don't want to have to drive everywhere, this is a plus. And the Strip is only eight minutes away by car. Currently, the Four Queens adds on a small parking fee ($3 per day), if you use their parking garage. While other casinos/hotels on Fremont offer free parking, I didn't mind this small additional fee, since the room was so comfortable. We also had very hot water in the bathroom, something that seems to be inconsistent among some of the older hotels there on Fremont St. That alone was worth the $3.

We liked it well enough that we're booking another four nights there, versus other hotels with slightly lower daily rates. I would recommend the Four Queens to anyone, without hesitation or reservation.

We have been going to Las Vegas now for a couple times a year since 1997 and have been staying at the Four Queens in old Vegas. The rooms are clean, the casino is clean & fun, the staff are very attentive and remember us from visit to visit. Everyone is helpful if you have questions or need anything. House keeping had our room made up so quickly each day we could hardly get to breakfast and back. That was great. The food in all of the restaurants, was really good & plentiful, reasonably priced and the staff you could just not ask for better service. The whole Freemont Street Experience is something we look forward to each time we go. Nostalgia at it's best. You can just feel the greats from the past, so much history. We have recommended to all our friends and family who have most all either been or are going and will stay here.

Customers first impression is front desk usually, besides valet perhaps. I must say this hotel did a poor job! I was quite surprised since their overall rating was a 4.2! The first thing the elder lady with glasses said was ,'Last Name'? No smile..no welcoming feeling at all. I'm not sure if these people are trained in customer service at all, but front desk should be providing the best possibly at all times since they are the first ones to interact with customers.

Secondly, on the website, parking is written everywhere that it is free. Think again, if you are driving/rented a car, parking is $3/night. I wanted a receipt indicating that I paid $3/night for parking, and she could not give me one. She merely told me that you can't get out of the parking lot without this yellow pass permit or I could pay the max rate. Next time, I would advise that this hotel should inform everyone the accuracy of what they should expect before catching customers off-guard in having to pay and not have it written everywhere it's 'complimentary'.

Great hotel for the price, I stay there for 3 nights, the room on my first night has a bad thermostat (I think), I have a cold night, then I change to a different room, which is a smoking room but did not have any odor. It is very easy to access casino, food, snake, fremont experience, etc. A little far (especially in long weekend the traffic is terrible) from strip. And kind of surprise there is no swimming pool in this hotel, I have to goto Binion top floor to use their small swimming pool, a little disappoint for kids. The wind blowing at the roof make the swimming pool extra cold and walking on the street with swimming gear & trunk make me embarrassing. Food is cheap & good in downtown, and no need to take 10min to find a parking & walk 15min from parking to casino like the big hotel in the strip.

Just got home from a 4 night stay at the Four Queens Hotel And Casino. This was the first time I have stayed downtown in Las Vegas. The hotel is older and it shows in a lot of ways, yet it was clean, housekeeping was very good, I always had hot water for showers, the bed was comfortable, and there was a coffeemaker in the room. My room was on the tenth floor on the Fremont street side of the building so it was very noisy in the evenings until the last Fremont Street Experience show at midnight, but, it still wasn't that bad. The room wasn't huge, but was very adequate for me as a solo traveler.
Downtown was a lot different than the strip (for one thing, as others have noted, there are none of the "porn-slappers" downtown). It was very nice to be able to walk short distances between places, instead of girding for the hike to get anywhere downtown.
As a person alone, with no set itinerary, I had no problem getting from downtown to the strip using the Sam's Town shuttle. It has two stops downtown, then goes directly to Sam's Town. From Sam's Town it goes to Harrah's and then Riviera so you have the option of mid strip or north strip. The shuttle was never more than half full and it was all just tourists like myself. It is very prompt and the drivers were always friendly.
I would recommend downtown Las Vegas and the Four Queens to anyone looking for a less hectic (and less expensive) alternative to the Strip.
