We stayed at the Circus Circus M-Th the first week of December 2006. Although we had some concerns based on previous reviews, overall we had a very good experience. We didn't specifically choose CC. It came as part of an air and hotel package that we got a great rate on.

Parking the rental car was convenient. CC has two parkades but we were always able to either park on ground lot or parkade 1 and never had to walk more than 5 minutes to get to the hotel entrance. One minor complaint is that parkade 1's elevator was still out of service.

Check in on a Monday afternoon was fine. We were queue for about 10 minutes behind about a dozen groups being handled by about a half dozen clerks.

We stayed in a room in the West Tower on a high floor facing the strip. I'm not sure if the clerk saw the tip we were flashing so I'm unsure if we got the room just because we asked ("West Tower, high floor, facing strip") or because of the tip. We specifically asked for the West Tower because it's apparently the newest of the three towers. The room was pretty much a basic standard hotel room you'd expect from a chain. We were only there to sleep and wash up so it met our needs. The view of the strip was ok but there isn't a lot to see based on the location of the CC.

Location-wise, we were able to easily get to all the hotels on the strip, downtown, etc rather easily via the rental car. It was an easy 10 minute walk to the closest Tix4Tonight half price booth. The Slots of Fun casino is nearly attached to the CC. It has low limit table games which great for a low-roller like me. The Riviera is literally across the street. The area didn't feel too seedy even when I took a walk outside at 3am.

Gaming wise, we played a little VP and has some decent luck. However, we could not find any JoB 9/6 games. We didn't play any table games at CC. The OneClub loyalty card desk never seemed to have more than a 3 person queue. A problem my friends encountered was that when they signed up for the card, they were supposed to get some free credits for slot play. The system was down close to two days before they could get their credits. We also visited the Sports book to put some money on our local NHL team. We found better odds at other casinos. The sports book area was adequate. The atmosphere wasn't the greatest as it was small compared to other Sports books we visited and only had a handful of people in it.

We visited CC's Midway and Adventure dome. Both were quite dead. They pretty much had your standard amusement park rides and games.

Food wise, we didn't eat much at CC. We once grabbed a quick breakfast at the McDonalds in the Midway (even though we read in the LVRJ it was recently shut down briefly after a food inspection). We found the McDonalds fine (and quite popular). We checked out but didn't get a chance to eat at the CC Steakhouse. The decor was definitely old school steakhouse. Prices were a little higher than expected at around $40 a steak but still reasonable comparatively.

No billing issues. Maid service was fine. We also had to pay CC's $1 a day phone fee.

I think we avoided a lot of the potential issues by going during a relatively low period in early December and avoiding a crush of kids. NFR was occurring but it didn't seem to affect us other than seeing a bunch of cowboy hats and country music everywhere we went. All in all, I'd recommend staying at the CC for budget, low frills accommodations in Vegas IF going during low season.

The West Tower rooms are very nice and clean. Maid service was great and they were more then happy to change the sheets when requested. Plenty of clean towels everyday. Large rooms huge bathrooms and a great view of the strip. While there were lots of children, because it is Circus Circus, we did not see any unattended children and they were not running wildly thru the hotel. All the staff was more then helpful and made the stay much less stressfull. Short walk to all the bigger hotels and casino's and lots of things to see and do. The food was better then average with little or no wait time to be seated.
The only complaint I have is that while walking thru the hotel and even down the street there are people who try to sell you time shares and sightseeing tours. You can't walk 20 feet anywhere in Vegas without someone trying to sell you something.
All in all, if we ever went back to Las Vegas I wouldn't mind staying here again.

  • Liked — Large clean rooms
  • Disliked — Peddlers in the lobby and main walkways, they won't leave you alone and are annoying!

First off, Circus Circus is towards the end of the strip where the older hotels are. The area around the hotel consists mostly of buildings that are marked for demolition, so it is a fair distance to walk to further down the strip to some of the nicer casinos.

The food at most of the restaurants is overpriced and bland. We received a coupon for buy one/get one free at the buffet which made it a fair deal, but we would have been angry to have to pay full price. McDonald's was the best deal in the casino.

Our room was on the top floor of the West tower, which has been remodeled recently. There was miscellaneous items in some of the corners from previous occupants and the wall safe was a joke where you had to pay money every time that you needed to lock it. We could easily hear the activities of the occupants in the room next door.

The most annoying portion of the entire trip was that Circus Circus allows time-share sales people to harass their guests with four stations located throughout the hotel. It was common for us to have to brush off three sales people every time that we would leave our room, and some of them didn't simply take no for an answer.

We went during Halloween/SEMA, and their Frightdome was interesting, but not worth the 25 dollars per person that we paid.

  • Liked — Not much.
  • Disliked — Time-Share sales people

Dear god... the check in was like waiting in line at the carnival... 45 min, lines about 50 deep. We got stuck in their ghetto project housing... motel 6 type bunkers 1/2 mile from check in, with paper thin walls. Seriously low rent, swamped with complete families... typical 5-12 ppl per family all with screaming kids. If you value your sanity avoid this place like the plague.

We stayed at the Manor rooms at Circus Circus for 4 nights and were very pleasantly surprised considering all the negative reviews.
We arrived in the early evening and check in was quick & efficient.
The Manor rooms are separate from the main hotel complex but there is a walkway inside that takes you almost all the way though it did take us a day or so to locate it!
The room was non-smoking and was very fresh and clean with a very comfortable bed. The bathroom was spotless cleaned every day with fresh towels provided daily and the sheets were changed during our stay.
I can't really comment on the restaurants or the pool as we ate elsewhere and did not manage to have a swim but there was a good atmosphere at the hotel with the added attraction of free circus acts.
Check out again went very smoothly despite our doing our best to confuse the receptionist she kept her patience.
I also stayed for a night at the Luxor Hotel which was 5 times the price per night but did not compare.
We are from Ireland and I think that it would be very difficult to find a hotel room anywhere in Ireland for the equivalent of $40 per night and definitely not of this quality.

  • Liked — good value clean
  • Disliked — room separate form main hotel building
